ive never done this on discord. ive installed it and entered rooms and ive never even chatted. theres always people idling in rooms talking about degenerate shit and the discussions that happen in discord chat aren't the same as a real forum or an irc chat. the voice chat is all people with text to speech bots talking about anime where you question their identity and gender its a never ending stream of interaction where you gain nothing from the experience

the medium is the message and the medium here is corporate swill to act as flypaper for people with minimal self control. if you post on social media you might talk to people on discord but it's sure as hell not designed to facilitate communicate with people

Run both an IRC and XMPP server.
XMPP is more usable and normie-friendly.
I also tried to install synapse (matrix server) today, but it seemed "too beta" for deployment...
