Tech cringe thread

I will start
>ROG Mothership

Attached: IMG_20190107_135521.png (930x946, 819K)

The device itself is awesome, but the name is pure cringe
>That Linus face

Unironically the best modern laptop I’ve ever seen.

cool as fuck innovation, but covered in gaymer shit.

How can Macshit ever compare

Just sticker bomb it to look more like a faggot

Attached: 1535606215135.gif (260x146, 1.14M)

all components on the screen with detachable keyboard is fucken great. its rare when technology actually improves rather than the so called 'inovation' we see every day. lets value when those fuckers do some actual good

You guys probably wear a fedora or think jeans with tribal patterns on them are great. aka, either a sad cringe loser or a douchebag.

>”nooo stop liking thing!!!!”

you got it chief

>You guys probably wear a fedora or think jeans with tribal patterns on them are great. aka, either a sad cringe loser or a douchebag.
(You) unironically like this shit, fuck off
That device is the holy grail of thermals on laptops at the moment.
Won't be far off if applel actually copy a "Real" electronics company in this design, then fags like you would praise them and suck both Tim and Schiller's dicks in 1 go

>triggered
GOTTEEEEM!

>Won't be far off if applel actually copy a "Real" electronics company in this design, then fags like you would praise them.
Can this actually happen?
Can they copy whole mothership internals, then introduce it as a new Apple™ design?

Based and redpilled

can i install trisquel on this?

Attached: 1545538223179.jpg (1200x1178, 391K)

Looks like a surface pro

But much better, internals are actually on the back of the screen, being cooled by the whole back, instead of only the sides as in current laptops
RTX 2080 and i7 9700 are packed in the back of the screen.
And the keyboard is detachable + Bluetooth

>gayman laptop

Still, what is the point of this? If you are away from home or traveling you should have the discipline to not want to fucking play games 24/7. When you're outside actually interact with things in the real world and live life. Gaymen laptops, handled consoles, and phone games are cancer. Just mindless drones glued to their screens 24/7.

so a heavy Surface Book 2, not a surface pro

>i7 9700 + rtx 2080
so the hardware is built to not last

Anything branded with "gamer" or "gaming".

Any motherboard product page.

Attached: stronk.jpg (624x271, 47K)

DESU, i love the form factor, even though the the name and design is cringy

It's okay. Other companies or even asus themselves will eventually make something in a similar form factor without screaming gaymer to anyone who sees it.

Those reinforced pci-e slots are important for some people.

Attached: 1523468916044.jpg (3408x2214, 2.2M)

I'm still not getting this. why they do that? there are people who fall on this meme marketing? every motherboard vendor does that.

Linus is a retard and so are you.

This is a slimmer and a more ergonomic (due o kickstand) portable wokstation design, which is good, basically like a laptop but less retarded.
Remove the obnoxious gaming branding with LEDs and you get a decent PC you can take with you on a business trip.

Making your devices thinner and gayer leaves no room for functionality and critical components, such as cooling, battery, decent keyboard and 3.5 jack, placing it into a thick base is also stupid since it makes your hands uncomfy and you need two enclosures (for the screen and the hardware) which is using space ineficiently.

Placing all the hardware into the lid is a smart move and it is a good design. A slightly angled keyboard looks like a very good touch, ergonomics and all.

I seriously hope this become a trend. In fact they should make it a whole good inch thick, fit it with a whole day worth of batter and add a confy carrying handle on top

Super cringe
>MAH BIG BOY STRONK HANDS NEED BIG STRONK SLOT
Literally what the fuck this retarded marketing team was thinking?

Attached: embedded pentium board.png (352x404, 139K)

The 3 slot 3 fan GPUS are the objectively best gpus. More cooler = more better, less noise and higher performance in the same time.

But they put excessive stress on the port sometimes ripping it off the board.

The decent manufactorers even include the additional retention support since the ATX PC design doesn't really support such massive devices.

Attached: Damaged_Falcon_NW_610x406.jpg (610x406, 58K)

go outside

You mean to Starbucks don't you faggot?

I don't need my PC outside.
All I actually need Is something good that can be moved on a trip.

xDDDDDddddddddddd
Let epic funny user

The world does, you faggot. Technology advances towards the trend for society.

From the technical standpoint this is actually smart.
>lots of ventilation opening
>enough room for a good radiator
>enough room for a beefy battery

The gay gamer branding and LEDS completely ruin it.
Remove all the glowy bullshit, make it 22-24", add the handle on the top and it would make a great busy man's suitcase.

Attached: Asus-ROG-Mothership-reveal-3.jpg (699x486, 42K)

Well, it's nice to see something different and "out of the box" thinking. It's just... awkward to look at. Maybe its nice to use, I dunno.

This. And GPU packaging.

I am very attracted to this man. I want to eat him in front of his wife
t.femanon

Higher strength PCI-E slots are a good idea in the world of giant and heavy video cards.

I love having a mysterious motherboard.

gamers are such losers that they accept "republic of gamer" as a flagship brand.

no wonder gaming is a loser's hobby

When the world junps off the bridge will you too? The billions of fles can't be wrong after all.
Just because everyone is a trendy faggot doesn't mean I have to be.

This time Asus made an actually good move away from the bad trends. The objective reality is that smaller is worse.
The smaller the battery the less power it has, the smaller if cooler the less heat it dissipates, the smaller is the computer the less it computes, the thinner is keyboard the more awkward it is to use (also dust particles)

And when everybody thinks what they need is smaller Asus came up with a way to offer them better instead. Perhaps people will see the potential in this.

Attached: 20161228-FullSizeRender.jpg (1000x747, 377K)

I just watched his video on it. He probably should have edited out his retard moments a little more. He comes off as a spastic dumbass with all those fuck ups.

I'm pretty sure it's the act he keeps up to entertain 12yo target auditory.

Nice huge Microsoft Surface right there

> mysterious touch
> touch

>Microsoft Surface
MS Surface design is actually the most efficient useage of space possible.

So Asus used the most efficient design to make a decent PC actually portable.
It is probably thinner and lighter than a EUROCOM laptop. Which is why it's good.

>decent PC you can take with you on a business trip.
Could you tell me, what do you mean by business trip? What kind of business requires "decent PC"? As far as i'm concerned most financial-related trips involve presentations and light MS office tasks. Most of engineering trips involve working on uneven surfaces and usually requires weather-protection more than high performance.

Attached: 15331594.jpg (2000x2000, 298K)

question for you my dude, why'd you post a toughbook?

They are very shitty laptops for almost every situation except outdoor and warzone work, certainly not business laptops. Not to mention a decent one is like 6 grand starting price

Yeah, looks like there only few years left for ASUS and microsoft to come with a concept of an iMac.

Tfw I have one of those

>be an aerospace engineer in Moscow
>Need to negotiate matters ,sign literal fucking papers, and deliver defective part smaples to St.Petersburg design bureau
>take the literal papers, parts, and a fucking thumbstick to the bureau
>spend all day there with people at 5 different desktops with no slightest need for a laptop
>go back to the hotel room
>the weather otsude is freezing rain
>it's boring
>my hobbies are digital art, 3d and sometimes a bit of gaming which all require a good PC to do,

Anywhere you go you can just take a storage device and use it on any PC to do your work.
The boring part is in the hotel.

>iMac
>Stationary device not intended to be carried
>sacrificed functionality for size anyway

Apple are the scpecial kind of stupid.

Toughbooks are godsent for construction site specialists, the guys who dig tunnels, literally mine in the mines and might drop it from the second floor into the pile of gravel.

Wtf I'm gay now

Attached: IMG_20190107_161736.png (251x367, 97K)

Because I had to work for some engineering company (energy construction) where toughbooks, thinkpads and elitebooks were the only laptops you could expect to have on a trip (it correlated with how deep on the field should you work). I mostly had to work with panasonics have nothing bad to say about those, what make you call toughbooks shitty?

Attached: 1533159082000_IMG_1039002.jpg (2000x2000, 367K)

>black soldermask

Attached: bloody ripper.jpg (980x649, 137K)

the waterproofing and armor tend to make them either easily overheat, or they're equipped with a shittier than normal processor to compensate for the lower thermal capacity. And they are exuberantly expensive considering what's in them, even after they outfit them and make them more rugged. They are one of the technologies that's been super slow to catch onto the idea of solid state memory, weirdly enough, or they are still using extremely expensive and old slc ssd chips.

basically they're not worth their money for most use cases, anyone using one in the field is either going to need more power or have it in a vehicle all the time, where it doesn't need to be "tough"

Don't get me wrong, they often come with some nice QoL stuff attached, but mostly they're just IT budget fluff. I work at a container port and every foreman and suprvisor truck has these things mounted in them. and I'd seen the same almost everywhere else they're used.

I could buy 6 similarly specced laptops for the same price as a single toughbook, and if you're honestly needing more than 6 laptops, you have a bigger problem than rugged laptops can fix.

>Anywhere you go you can just take a storage device and use it on any PC to do your work.
What factory are you working at? Last time I've spent about 3 hours to find unblocked USB port at "npo mars"

They only offer bottom of the barrel to mediocre kind of hardware in the toughbook product lineup which is bizzare considering the price proposition.
>base model
>1376*768 display
>the worst laptop cpu on the market
>costs several thousands dolla
What the fuck? They could make it decent for 150$ more.

Elitebooks are pretty fucking wonderful. They are VAIO tier.

>npo mars
I worked at "MMП им. Чepнышeвa" providing engineering oversight to RD-33/Mk, and Vk2500 manufactoring and giving resolutions on borked, salvagable or shippable defects on the parts.

The most of PCs in there were midrange but modern, 2nd and 3rd generations i3s and i5s for the most part.

He looks like a cute lesbian butch in that photo.

>1080p

Sorry, I've fucked it up. It was "HПO Кoмeтa", they don't give two fucks about IT security on "Mars".

even if they make good stuff, "Republic of Gamers" has to be the cringiest fucking brand name ever.

I'm sure it already happened, Crapple is a shady company

You are missing the point. You can buy 6 laptops for a price of toughbook and each of them will provide the same or even superior performance. But neither of those will last it's performance under the rain or after 6 feet drop. You can drop 6 of them, result will be the same.

Underrated

Attached: mem.png (555x165, 222K)

Attached: eLhDSzu.jpg (2890x2167, 844K)

So what if you feel like dropping it all the time?
>Hey man, can you give me your laptop for a bit?
>Sure. *drops it from 10 feet up*

So they invented to carry an iMac. Not much of an invention I would say.

Attached: s-l1600-2_10.jpg (1400x922, 141K)

Well sure i'm not arguing that.

But why the hell wont panasonic put some decent hardware into that toughbook enclosure?
Their profit margins are fucking nuts anyways.

>Can this actually happen?
>Can they copy whole mothership internals, then introduce it as a new Apple™ design?
Apple stole the design for iPhone and iPad from less fashionable brands that weren't very popular.
But anything Crapple shits out becomes the trend.

>no CD/DVD/HD-DVD/Blue ray
>no Express card slot
>no mechanical keyboard
>no battery hot swap
>2 (TWO) power adapters
it's shit

How in the fuck is a giant tablet innovation?

This was the best thread to ever grace Jow Forums

This is sexy.

I was genuinely impressed with the build quality all cnc billet machines is fucking goregeous and they cover it up with shit gaymur blacked dumb design language instead of leaving it unpainted and just brushing it.
Asus is the new Apple honestly they stopped (innovating) when jobs died
Mothership is a terrible name but it's a neat device
Shame it's only incel nvidiass shit tho

Actually this would be the perfect lan/portable pc
Laptops have been useless for over a decade it's either anaemic normal tier business trash or gamer shite

>But why the hell wont panasonic put some decent hardware into that toughbook enclosure?
Because the tough enclosure limits cooling ability, because they always choose stability over performance, also passing all military standard tests cost shitton of money so they can't upgrade hardware fast enough to match the market.
It's enough to drop it once to ruine all your work. And when you work from ladder it tends to happen.

Attached: panasonic-toughbook-Test_IPx4.jpg (750x500, 115K)

they're probaly making a sale, I bought a used laptop in a starbucks

>AM3+ rig
>Sideways T4 cooler
Kek that's my pc. Mine is actually built somewhat properly.

>Can this actually happen?
>Can they copy whole mothership internals, then introduce it as a new Apple™ design?
As the saying goes, when the applel jew is let loose, you should know to never cruise.

Kek, thought of this dude too.
I wish I could learn electronics as good as him.

>Imagine how many loads you can blow on that and get away with it.
