When did Microsoft become so based

Perfect timing. I was wondering how to make private repositories for my 4 CS classes this semester. Thanks desu.

based microsoft acquisition

Microsoft did something smart after buying a company?

all software should be open source user

>Owned by Microsoft
>(((private)))

When they realized people are starting to use alternatives to github, that have free private repos.
So when such a person finally decides to stop being a cheap faggot, they are losing a customer.

>Embrace, extend and extinguish

it's microsoft trying to kill their competition.

Based Microsoft

Microsoft wants to keep these people around, they could become future employees, or potentially create a technology that they may find useful. Why would you want to alienate people who are creating and advancing the market you occupy? Microsoft and Linux and the open source world all exist together and it doesn't harm their profits in the slightest. It's becoming a co-operative in a sense.

>Trusting a Microsoft product
>2016 + 3

Bitbucket has done this for years.

You're not gonna make it if you couldn't figure that out or set up a student account.

cuck, bet you use BSD license as well
enjoy chinks stealing and profiting from your software

Too late I already migrated everything to gitlab.

pretty based tbqh.

This.
GitLab is still superior.

>people are starting to use alternatives to github
this actually never happened and the barrage of "i'm leaving github!" was just empty threats coming from autistic freetards

Microsoft has always been based, user. Don't believe commie freetards.

About 6 months too late. I switched to GitLab months ago. Over the last few months, almost all of my friends have made the switch too. Significantly better interface, more refined features and better CI integration. On every front, GitHub is BTFO. I don't think I've heard a single negative thing from anyone who's made the switch.

>y'all
I don't know how or why this trend started, but I wish it would end.

>better CI integration
>better continuous integration integration

>all these idiots calling microshaft based
Remember that their corporate lawyers require you to use a CoC on every project you make if they ever feel like using it, and remember that the built in CoC generator/template is Corey's tranny tone policing contract.

FUCK YES BOIS HE'S THICK BOIIII
been waiting for this for quite a long time

>enjoy chinks stealing and profiting from your software
>implying this wouldn't happen with non free software
>implying I care what chinks do

Importing back is just a button away.
And an access token.

Fuck gitlab I'm switching back

THANK YOU BASED MICROSOFT

>unlimited free private repositories
Absolutely based
Btw I have a student account linked with my university, is it worth making my own account for future use outside of uni or should I use my student account moving forward?

can you use the sqllite version?

What does this have to do with the thread

MICROSHAFTS DID IT AGAIN!

Welp, goodbye GitLab.

bump help

This is not necessarily a good thing. They are saying that small paying customers no longer matter to them and they're going to focus on enterprise customers. Remember Borland? It killed their products after the acquisition.
