I find wallpapers to be visually distracting. Pixels add clutter. Took me more than a decade of cell phone use to realize that I don't want to look at a crisp pretty wallpaper all the time. That's distracting.
This wallpaper's the one I settled with because it's aesthetic af. It's really cool and boring at the same time. All it is is shadowy silhouettes in front of a highly photoshopped sunset.
Besides- the wallpaer is stationary relative to the scrolling. If I actually ever wanted to look at the palm trees, all I have to do is scroll. I left a lot of blank space between icons in order to leave at least *some* of the wallpaper visible.

I had a $50 Nokia WinPhone burner for a few months a couple of years ago and it was surprisingly good. It was a temporary solution while waiting to get a replacement for a much more expensive Android phone that got broken and I actually liked it enough that I would have seriously considered buying a high end Windows Phone instead of another Android, but this was right as the platform was dying and it didn't seem like a smart decision.
