No, it's because chrome has every single tab running as a separate instance. It's to prevent slow down when opening the new tab. if I recall correctly chrome also runs every fucking add on as some sort of instance(?) someone correct me about that because that sounds wrong.

Post Scriptum, you can get by with 8GB but I had performance problems with that amount. With 16GB the game ran fine.
