How much does spaceX pay?
Why'd they let you go?
Why would you purposely work for a company known for treating their employees like shit?
Why were you fired?
What was the work environment like?
Also what was your salary/sign on bonus/other compensation/benefits?

You fucked up OP
You had a year on there. One bonus of the death of labor unions from right-to-work legislation: in most states past employers are bound by law to not discuss what you did there or your work performance. They are only allowed to confirm if you worked there. Just apply at any mid size whatever and do the same shit for 10% less or go balls deep and bullshit your pay from SpaceX and get more pay if you're not a pussy. Getting fired is humiliating but no one cares, but you, faggot.
And one year of experience is nothing to sneeze at. I got my first tech job in November and I know sooooooo much more about so many topics than I did then. I remember there are a few technical questions I floundered on in interviews that now would be a cake walk for me.
>>Slightly over 103k
yikes
>don't act like a sperg in public
this is hands down the best fucking thing about manual labor. I feel like an actual human when off work. I feel "honest", I don't have to shy away from people all the time, and the nature of the work makes you more of a confident person.
>no deadlines to keep up with
larp, you never worked in your entire life.
>bullshit your pay
one risk of doing this is that many HR systems pull data from Equifax's employment database for all applicants. It includes pay data, so they know you lied.

Yes, that is the equivalent of $150k in Texas. And you realize the average shitbox house here costs $180k right? You Califags have no idea how much cheaper it is to live outside of your overcrowded smog filled bubble
None of them. Hope you enjoy sleeping and showering at work!
>Only 8% 401k match
You can do much better than that at a public company, usually 25%-50%
No, 280k in California would be around the equivalent of 220k in Texas. And who the fuck cares about the prices of houses? Just buy a house somewhere cheap after you retire.
google is very nice place to work
103k in San Fransisco is terrible, why is Elon Musk such a kike?
But I don't want to live in mountain view
What sort of work do these people do?
>Google has an office in texas
No fucking way it's not even close in terms of purchasing power. Average house in SF is $800k.
>he wants to live in Austin
laughing_girls.jpg
Mountain view is pretty nice, but if you're not into that the New York office is very nice, Seattle is also pretty solid, moot works at the Tokyo office
They have a map with all of their offices, and all of them are hiring
Is that pic for real? Because that gives me a lot of hope for finding a new job
>robots
Are really good at specialized tasks such as vacuuming and welding together cars. I guess they will also be able to replace pack mules soon.
Why do I care what the prices of a house is? I pay 30k extra a year in rent, and 20k extra a year in state taxes. Everything else is completely the same.

Questions like those are just what they use to filter out the bullshitters on the first pass. You go through several interviews.
Those pictures are for a dumb tripfag looking to hire people on a third world wage. No competent programmer would ever apply to such a posting.
Lol whatever. Have fun with your expensive old ass tiny houses and gas 50c more per gallon.
I lived in CA for 3 summer internships. They all invited me back. There is a reason I came back to Texas...
CA is great to visit often, shitty to pay to live there
Idk why this is even an argument, these tech companies clearly have better compensation and benefits than what this user listed. like you've got it good but don't be in denial that people that work there have it better, it's clear as day to everyone here
I got to see moot outside one of the offices one day and i just stared at him from a distance instead of going up and saying hi because I was a scared sperg
I don't even have a car. I skateboard to work, or take the company shuttle on rainy days.
Making a shit ton of assumptions there. Meanwhile your fear and paranoia is missing out on all the gains and inflation eats away all your cash.
If that actually happened it would be total societal collapse. There would be no more programming going on, it would be you, your backyard garden and your guns. If you want to live your life like that in fear and seclusion then be my guest, but the American hegemony is not stopping anytime soon.
California has insane housing costs and the state tax is much higher than Texas.
I think you meant to reply to someone else, you quoted my post which is sitting on California. Trust me I have been there many times and many cities
Austin would be a wonderful place if it had 60% fewer people. The transportation infrastructure is simply not there. Six trillion people cannot get across the city on 3 shitty highways
If you see him again can you ask him why he sold out and decided to work for a company which represents everything he hates about the internet?
>white board interview
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lmao
Not to mention the houses are skyrocketing right now. A $180k house in SA is now $350k in Austin. Just not worth it
They actually give you laptops now.
Don't forget the part where Texans don't pay state income tax and Cali Wali fags pay 10.3% for the privilege to pay more in living.
mmm, no:
$290k less income tax is $260k. SF is 182% more expensive than Dallas. That means that your effective take home is $92k in Dallas. Califags are retarded.
bestplaces.net
Compensation from these companies out of CA in all locations including Texas offices is still more impressive
>tfw $750 rent 15 minutes from google HQ
You are almost certainly a millennial yourself if you talk like that
t. Superior Zoomer
Amenities and square footage? When was it built?
If you do San Antonio or Houston it's even cheaper. You can get a fucking 3000sqft mansion in beautiful Hill Country with several acres of property out here for $350k if you build yourself.
You still have to ace some leetcode harde DP problem in 20 minutes which I can't fucking do unless I grind for hours after work.
JUST FUCK ME
Cost of living is meaningless. You are retarded if you spend your entire income on living. Sorry buddy, I already did the calculations. 20k extra in taxes, 30k extra in rent. 280k in California is equivalent to well over 200k in Texas.
How do u all feel about Seattle then
Where the fuck???, I'm looking so damn hard for a place rn, I'm starting next month
It's my car lease + garage spot. It's great.

DP is easy as fuck. You just have to identify the subproblems and formulate the recurrence relation. The programming is mechanical at that point.
you guys aren't even fit to be frontend web developers.
Whatever makes you feel better, sweetie. The fact that your tax rate is literally off by $10k doesn't make me confident in your numbers though.
>You just have to identify the subproblems and formulate the recurrence relation.
That's the hard part, depending on the problem.

I wish I could be as optimistic as you.
Nice job ignoring the rest of my post. You say your effective take home is 92k. Where did the rest of the 200k go? Give concrete answers.
Read the link posted. It's a 3rd party that's basing its calculations off the federal COLA with no reason to BS numbers to brag in a Jow Forums thread. i.e. much more Reliable than you.
Yes he actually can lmao, but English speaking is requirement in all google offices so you don't need to if you want to transfer to the Japan office. Also if you want to live the weeb dream they'll give you free language classes if you go there
I'm not surprised that people from Texas can't do basic math. You probably can't even realize why $19,000 is missing.
You can define the start and step in a range.
[i for i in range(1, 100, 2)]
Again, you completely missed the point and don't realize that cost of LIVING is not cost of INCOME.
I understand what you are trying to convey but that is not exclusive to manual labor.
The comfort around people comes from experience interacting with them.
You (and everyone else that doesn't make it a priority to live a social lifestyle) walks around with a list of illogical, unsupported, misconceptions of people and how they will react to you that manifested because of your lack of experience interacting with them.
You don't interact in the contexts these fears are present. So you don't have reference experience proving that they're wrong. Even worse you can come up with the most retarded ideas about life and since you never test them you truly believe and fear them.
You need to put yourself in social situations of all kinds and you will without a doubt experience some strong emotions or thoughts often. Later process them, feel them. Try to understand yourself and your emotions and then put yourself in situations that confront those misconception.
E.g, say you had a great conversation while waiting on line then you were feeling pretty confident so you stopped and started a conversation with someone outside the store. But the conversation outside was horrible, you felt anxious and like you couldn't think of anything to say and you felt you appeared weird.
Later you analyze the situation and you see that you felt fine on the line because they were waiting too and you weren't "holding up their day", that makes you realize you feel like you are an annoyance and people aren't excited to talk to you, and when you realize that's why you felt uncomfortable you realize that means you have been talking to people to make them feel good so you can get their validation instead of actually expressing yourself because you want to, you realize that you are living for others.
So after all this you set a goal that when you talk to people the next day you bring up something you want to talk about in the conversation without qualifying yourself.
Just an example.
Japan's economy hasn't recovered and they're not eating each other.
>single
>$271
>280k
>$250-290k
How about you keep your story straight
Read up on how COLA and geographic income adjustment is calculated before you try to brag next time.
Read up on the difference between living expense and income. Hint: if you aren't an idiot who lives paycheck to paycheck, they will not be the same.

Here's a summary of what I saved in 2018. If 280k in California is only equivalent to 92k in Texas, where did the extra money come from?
ring that notification bell
You've either never worked in your life or you've been completely misunderstanding your 401k your entire professional career.
There's a cap, which is usually what people talk about in reference to a 401k percentage. 8% match means they'll match up to 8% of your salary as a cap. The other common percentage is the contribution match ratio, so they'll match 50 to 100% of your contribution. If you have a 50% contribution match that means with an 8% salary match you'd have to put 16% of your monthly pay (pretax) into the 401k every month to hit the 8% cap for the year. Most big companies will match 100% of a contribution so people don't even mention it, they just mention the cap. 8% is actually very good and typical mostly for financial and investment companies. Other industries will usually match a cap of 4-6%
Ahh the mental gymnastics of people who thing paying $3500 a month for a bedroom and a shared bathroom is a good thing.

If you want to talk collapse I'd look there first. Take a peek behind the curtain at their fundamentals and they're in for a seriously challenging 21st century.
>Japan's economy hasn't recovered
We don't live in Japan, we live in the United States. The Nikkei only has 24 years of history, the S&P has almost 100. The scenario you described would uncertainly lead to hyper inflation which would cause runaway bank withdrawals, mass panic and societal collapse. Japan has a unified people with a singular culture and vision. They don't even litter on the fucking sidewalk. We would eat each other in a heartbeat
