You don't understand how fucked up the dialects in Norway are.

The Norwegian language is split into two main variants; bokmål and nynorsk. Bokmål is the Danish derived official standard for essentially 80% of the country. Nynorsk is a botched result of some cunt travelling from top to bottom of the country, accumulating dialects and just wrote a new fucking language out of it, and as it has over time been adapted by a decent amount of people, we're forced to learn it in school with its fucked up writing methods and ass-backwards word variants.

It's a waste of time and resources.

We do, the guy is being retarded. Everyone gets english from elementary school. and older kids get a second foreign language too (german, french, and spanish are common). Once in highschool you can choose to either learn more about your second foreign language, or learn yet another one.

In norwegian class you get to learn your "primary" written form of norwegian, and as you get older you also get to learn the second form. Having to learn both is not that hard. I've met africans from very poor countries, with very little education, that know 5 or more languages, simply from having been around them when growing up. If it was up to me, kids would learn another nordic language too (old norse, faroese, icelandic, swedish, danish, even sami or finnish).

I don't know what makes this guy think that you live a richer life if you only know one written form of norwegian. Would think having more knowledge, not less, would make your life richer.
