Using a screwdriver is very hard for a sennheiser monkey. Why do you think the HD6 can be disassembled all by hand? Of course, ending up with the fact that you need to replace the entire driver unit if the connector to the cable breaks because it's part of the driver and impossible to fix.

I just tried to break those same parts on my 1990 and fuck if it wouldn't take a lot of force or smashing them with a hammer. It's like 7 or 8 bucks to replace them anyway.

Is there a headphone where plugging into an amp vs no amp makes the headphone sound completely different? I'm guessing headphones over 450ohm will sound different if the onboard is too weak?

Modifying standards that are meant to be adopted by a wide amount of manufacturers both shitty and high end is really hard. Bluetooth is indeed archaic. It's passable for listening to music non-critically, but the latency makes it horrible for anything else, AND you can't use bluetooth as a headset either even if you didn't mind the latency, because the only mode that allows the mic to work sounds like listening to a 32kbps mp3, for some reason they have yet to allow two channels on AD2P flux...

es100 is great. supports LDAC which has variable bitrate so you don't get latency issues. I mounted a usb hub on my wall above my monitor so I get full bluetooth coverage as well

I own DT 990 and it does pretty well for hip hop too.
I might get the dt 1990 but still I want to try it first before I get it because the frequency response doesn't look amazing to me.

frequency response is the most important factor for sound quality and it highly correlates with trained listeners impressions, don't get the 990, you're limited in terms of upgrade paths for another bright headphone, it's gonna sound weird but consider dt880, stax or hd800. possibly used too

And frequency response doesn't tell everything like sound stage and imaging. That's why I want to test them first. The HD 800 lacks bass so I'm not sure if that would work.
