i live in a quiet apartment so i cant have any actual computer speakers as anything decent will generally have a sub or just too much bass in general. also it's a small apartment so my desk is small. i was using the built-in sound on a tv i have hooked up on the side, but then i found out that dell makes soundbars that hook right up to their ultrasharp monitors, and the one for me 30" was like 17 bucks on amazon. so i got one. for what it is, it's awesome. it won't blow your dick off, but if you live in an apartment and can't be loud anyway and have limited desk space the sound quality is pretty nice.

Is there a way to make the RGB shit display useful information, like the BeOS blinkenlights? I think it would be neat if a pc was at a cool blue color, then started 'heating up' as the processor or memory load or cpu temp was rising.

asus aura does the temps, it's not a smooth gradient though, there's about 12-15 colors it shows from green to yellow to red, (no custom colors yet) and only polls the temp once per second or so.

What I'd like to see is watercooling fluid that changes color as it heats and cools.

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to use LEDs to display any useful information at all.

I have a Gigabyte and a ASUS motherboard with LEDs and a MSI GPU with a LED. None of them have any support for controlling RGB lights from GNU/Linux. None. There is a it87_gpio driver hack for some older models of Gigabyte motherboards (not the one I have). This means that you are limited to controlling any LED lights you have from BIOS and BIOS can't do anything beyond setting fixed colors.
