Tumblr is unprofitable, Just Verizon want shutdown.

source?

Actually, even trannies were leaving the place.
They consider that banning porn is an attack against the freedom of speech of the minorities that used to take shelter on Tumblr.

Verizon, or that shitty spyware ad subsidiary called Oath, probably knew exactly what they were doing. Advertisers are very skittish about anything involving porn. Their plan for monetizing this thing is based on advertising. Banning porn makes the place nice, bland, and brand-safe, while simultaneously cutting the hosting and bandwidth bill. Basically they just kicked out the users that they couldn't monetize.

More like they kicked the only users who were keeping the platform alive. Now it's a walking corpse, like Google+.

actually RIP
some nice degenerate shit was on there

They generated no money from it

Probably this, they got rid of RAW image storage right?

Quelle surprise...

Well if they aren't able to monetize it, they'd rather close it down, like said. So either way what they did makes sense from their perspective.

Now if you want to argue that advertising as a business model and the admen that run it are a detriment to humanity, and that they ought to be dragged into the streets and beaten to death to warn others away from having anything to do with the marketing industry, I'd agree entirely. But in the absence of such an event, banning porn on tumblr makes sense for Verizon's bottom line whatever happens.

>no traffic
>no money to be made
Might as well delete it.

Strange, Tumblr app showed plenty of ads from large corporations like Ford and P&G for me when I used it before the porn ban.

where do the traffic go though?

That's faggot shit so who cares

Probably just back to deviantART, Fur Affinity, Patreon, Twitter, etc.

You mean 90% of the public of Tumblr BEFORE the porn ban? I bet only bots are left.

Most of the porn artists I used to follow went to twitter.

can we jail all twitter employees for hosting porn?

Source?

It's fun to think about the higher ups at Tumblr being so detached from their actual userbase when making this decision. Did they honestly think banning porn to get back on Apple's app store was worth it? The only people that were affected by Apple taking the app down are people with iPhones, browsed on mobile, and didn't use a browser over the app.

Though maybe that's what they wanted, kill the website since it is virtually impossible to be profitable outside of ad revenue.

Then why ban porn instead of just shutting it down?
Seems like banning porn would just worsen the problem.

>source?
OP's cute ass

Sauce for this info?

Hosting porn isn't illegal, dumbass. Do you seriously think that's why Tumblr removed it? Child porn however is certainly illegal and is actively removed on both sites though obviously some will still slip through like it did on Tumblr.

h-how cute is it

what kind brain dead cuck even clicks on ads and is convinced enough to buy something because of it? marketers and anyone brain dead enough to be swayed by them should be shot. almost as bad as hr people. hr should be sent to death camps too.

List of surprised people:

This is a widely off-topic post. You're making a generalized statement about online advertising here whereas this thread is about Tumblr. Whatever you personally think about the matter is irrelevant. The execs certainly don't see it the way you do.

This seems like the best take. I remember reading that something like 15% of blogs were porn blogs. Since they can't make money off this and those are also the sort of blogs to get traffic through google, social media sharing, etc, they're really cutting down on bandwidth costs and not having to host all of those gifs. So yes, OP is probably right, there was a traffic drop, but that doesn't mean this isn't exactly what they were expecting when they made the change. Still a bit of PR issue though as people who aren't into porn (at least no publicly) still don't seem comfortable with what they did or at least how they did it.

lol, they sent me this message.
Are they really this delusional?

Why are you entitled degenerates still whining about this? You're all pathetic.

I was disappointed to never find cp on Tumblr despite my efforts. How tf did you guys find it?

The execs should be put against the wall and shot, too.
