> Let's say Windows 10 broke for the umpteenth time > Let's say I want to use Linux only on my desktop and laptop > Let's say I'm not a CS student nor I work in the IT or STEM > Let's say I've already know how to use Gnu/Linux, using bash and such > Let's say I want less trouble from my OS as possible > Let's say I hate LTS and very old packages from the package manager > Let's say I wanna use something efficent, but at the same time good, with a good DE (no matter if it's customizable or not)
Which distro should I choose?
My computer is from 2013 (i5 3570k and HD7970) and my laptop is a Thinkpad x230.
Explain why it is bad without baseless speculation.
Jeremiah Martin
boot and shutdown times are faster using an alternative init system also, its not speculation as to the fact that systemd hasn't been audited properly, and scope creep is not speculation either
Mason Ward
>> Let's say I want less trouble from my OS as possible linux is not for you
Dominic Lewis
>boot and shutdown times are faster using an alternative init system Which alternative? Show me the evidence. >systemd hasn't been audited properly Define properly.
Jack Hernandez
>define properly as in at all >which alternative runit, openRC, sysV >show me the evidence create a liveUSB of Void and try it for yourself, you'll see what I mean
Logan Long
Not him but Upstart is pretty gud
David Long
>as in at all Then you are wrong. Just because you haven't done it doesn't mean it hasn't been done. >runit, openRC, sysV Show me. >create a liveUSB of Void and try it for yourself, you'll see what I mean Not evidence.
Jaxon Sanders
>Define properly >muh everything is seen through a lens >properly is a social construct You can hear the diversity programs oozing out of this one
Anthony Russell
You have issues.
Ian Russell
define 'show me
what do you mean by "not"
Cooper Flores
>then you are wrong. just because you haven't done it doesn't mean it hasn't been done and you have? I highly doubt that, also post proof where it has been done since you insist it has >no evidence pic related, systemd is massive compared to runit which doesn't do it any favors when it comes to start up times
