did you write the correct image to the usb stick?

yes i did!

it was able to boot on a laptop

run grub ur shits fucked

Disable UEFI "secure boot". It probably works on your laptop because it doesn't have this feature enabled by default.

Have you tried to turn it off and back on?

ty will look into that

i did try that after setting BIOS to default

desu

Get a non UEFI image

>i am not able to decipher what this screen means
That screen isn't yet from Ubuntu, but still from your BIOS, it's just some generic diagnostics about what devices are connected.

Try different BIOS settings, and if that doesn't work use etcher or whatever and throw some other distro on your stick. IDK, MX Linux or something. Because Ubuntu is flakey in supporting older machines, in my experience.

Imagine being OP

guarantee OP downloaded amd64 image for his piss old rig

I mean get Rufus and when you are about to load the image to the USB stick, there's a drop-down menu that says something UEFI click it and choose MBR. I had this problem as well, and that fixed it

i meant to unplug it and plug it again

It didn't worked, huh?
Try it again and post results.

i downloaded x64 ubuntu

ty so much for this response...will certain try it

i am OP

What processor do you have?

Try without secure boot and UEFI and different combinations

Does your processor support x64? Try the x86 version if the non-UEFI doesn't work

Top zoz

ty will try x86

You have no idea how much I miss this screen.

u wot?

That bios screen that lists off all that pointless information. It's nostalgic for me.
