nice. though I don't have any games that I would want to play right now.

>> - Vulkan support.
>> - Direct3D 12 support.
List things that use these

did they ever fix the regression or do you have to install a special version of wine for every game

a few emulators have vulkan renderers but they're all available on linux natively anyway

What regression? They fixed like 70 bugs I think, they were 7 -rc releases just for bug fixes.

so they merged valve proton?

Is directX support still via the low OpenGL wrapper or are they finally using DXVK?

Will it replace wine-staging-pba? I use it to play PoE with dxvk

Video games and future Vulkan support for cross platform use.

d-doom

What japanese porn games can I run?

benchmarks when

>2019
>still can't run windows applications on android phone

pretty much. still a win, though.

>vulkan
I assume that also means built-in dxvk

>Win7 about to be killed off in January 2020
>New consoles on November 2020
>He thinks DX12/Vulkan aren't going to be more relevant than ever

I use Ubuntu and tried to install Vulkan. Still not appearing in Dolphin emulator. Why? My GPU is compatible

Maybe you need the latest mesa, or compile the latest dolphin. Don't know how outdated the Ubuntu repos are.

> - Vulkan support.
> - Direct3D 12 support.
> - Game controllers support.
This is interesting. I'm curious to see some tests.

But why would you ever want to do that?

I want to play RA2 on my phone.

I played Monster Girl Quest on Wine

Yesterday:
>hurr wine is so bad it doesn't even support DX12
Now:
>hurr nobody even cares about DX12, i'm still staying on win7

windows users always whine aboout wine

>he's not using gal-9 staging

Wine devs are fucking based, doing god's work.

You mean pajeets and glowies.

>wanting to use windoze shit

It’s good for that one game that doesn’t have a linux port or has a port that doesn’t work with modern versions of linux. For example, it’s easier to setup unreal tournament 1999 in wine than play the native port because it’s buggy

Bases

No. It just means windows only vulkan games can be played without trouble. dxvk is a wrapper for dx10-11, doesn't depend on wine and is strictly speaking, windows only.

No

Almost everything. rpg maker mv is still a bitch and needs native nwjs binaries to work or by pretending to be windows xp.

Based

Does it support text hookers? I need one to decrypt moon

So, what else can I do with wine besides gaming?

Attached: 7980_0.png (796x1060, 408K)

Okay, I'll admit it, I am a brainlet as far as this is concerned. What old school games can I play on this ?. Like anything before 2005 ?. What about 32-bit games ?.

>still can't into VSTs

what a load of shit lmao

what's the point of emulation windows if you can just use windows?

Wine was already good for just about anything from the 32 bit era. This is more important for newer games

it probably runs more old games than windows at this point
>What about 32-bit games ?.
dude, it can even run 16-bit games

Okay, I'll install it and some games I have. I'll post back...

Because emulating windows is better at running older Windows programs than Windows.

>Tried installing..,
failed retrieving file 'lib32-systemd-239.6-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror.0x.sg : The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found
>Well there's a fucking surprise...

>using an actual meme distro when not even acquainted with linux.
I mean you shouldn't use meme shit like Manjaro ever, but especially not if you're new to Linux.

Use something that actually works.
Ubuntu and Fedora are supported for basically everything. (since Ubuntu/Debian is almost the 'default' linux now outside of enterprise where RHEL rules)

Can I fully escape windows yet as far as gaming goes? In my next build I'm so scared of having to go to windows 10.

DXVK is C++, Wine is C, they don't want to pollute the codebase so it remains a separate project.

Super easy to just winelib it though so it doesn't matter too much.

Attached: mjcry-snow.gif (360x243, 354K)

eh you can always try out hybrid solutions if you absolutely need something to run.
GPU passthrough works well enough. I'd rather run win10 in a cage than free reign on my system.

dual boot, VM, etc...

Not really, but if you've got a spare GPU, you can escape it most of the time, without rebooting.
KVM+PCI-e passthrough is a wonderous thing.

You have to pacman -Syu to update your repos before a pacman -S wine

Also don't use arch if you:
Don't want to deal with shit breaking as it updates
Don't want to learn how the system works

Well if it's in the actually repositories I'd expect the fucking thing to at least install. Maybe I'm expecting too much... I don't know.
>Ubuntu/Debian
No thanks.
Anything helpful would have been nice...

Can I compile stuff for Windows under wine? I tried once with rust (pls no bully) and it complained that some win32 function wasn't implemented. A simple hello world worked though.

Have you tried running the VS C++ compiler on wine?

Hey if you want to play with crazy niche shit, expect crazy niche problems.
Ubuntu just werks.

Yes. This fixed my problem. Thanks user.

>Well if it's in the actually repositories I'd expect the fucking thing to at least install.
It's a 404, so it's probably just a case of your local mirror still rsync'ing.

Win16 games. DOS games require DOSbox now and wine just launches DOSbox.

Yeah I've heard of GPU passthrough. My recent gaming system died but I was thinking to initially use my old 770 gtx card when I do to save some money. It'll still be probably a few months or more til I get the money but I mean if I am able to save could I use that as the secondary card? I don't fully get how that even works or would I have to be in an SLI/Crossfire situation with 2 similar cards? I've never done that before.

I mean I am glad most of the components from it seem to still be working and it was just the cpu that died. But that stuff was 8 years old. The card was the only slightly newer thing in it.

idk still running win 7 until the thing blows up or a suckless OS comes out.
I'd run linux or a hackintosh on hardware before I run win10.

wine-gcc.
Use meson builds.

Tried installing Serious Sam FE...
Nope, borked my vidya...
I am now sitting in glorious 640x480x32 mode shit posting this.
Why do I always listen to you fucking faggots. Nothing, I mean NOTHING has ever come good from it.

If you are a bit of a brainlet like me just

lutris.net

Wine kinda works but sometimes I feel like it would be a lot less troublesome to just dualboot wangblows.

The computer I have to use right now I actually did put xubuntu in it since it was just an old core2duo mac that I got for free that was just going to be recycled and I was able to take it. While I can't really test gaming on it in any modern sense or at least how modern gaming wise I actually had cuz I'm a bit of a slowpoke, it's actually not that bad for basic stuff but not without it's glitches. But I guess I can live with it for awhile. So yeah, my first real daily use of linux, in the past I had used it some on lab computers or in virtual machines but never daily.

Does it come with big tiddie anime girl?

Nah, you want hydrus or such for that.

Thank you sir.

>so they merged valve proton?
I don't think you understand what Proton is: it's WINE with some patches on top of it. Think of it like re-distributing Firefox with a theme and a plugin bundled with it. These Proton patches are being added upstream all the time, you could look at Proton as a stating tree for the DXVK parts of WINE.

>curious to see some tests.
You can test it yourself. The Free Software foundation and the GNU Project have been fighting for you right to do that for decades and they have ensured that you and your family can have access to this. Just installl it and test, it's up to you. The Bilderberg group, the CFR and the IMF want to stop you but they can't without turning off the Internet. You have the power. Use it.

Yeah, almost every single one of them work. I think the only one that can make problems is vnr due to its retarded popup system blocking input on modern window managers. You still need msgothic to solve font issues and start every jap program with LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8. Of course that locale needs to be enabled for the system. refer to distribution wiki for that.

Im in too deep brehs, Chromium has all my passwords saved and I don't even remember them all how can I switch now?

VSTs work with it you brainlet.

Just look into the password manager and copy them out. I don't use chromium but every proper password manager can display the credentials in plain text for you.

>69487646
run adobo meme swet

switching to 640x480 is normal for old games, it will do the same in windows as well
i'm trying serious sam fe/se myself, setting it to 1080p is easy enough, but i'm getting weird graphics, improper occlusion? idk

Attached: 2019-01-24-024805_1920x1080_scrot.jpg (1920x1080, 1.64M)

wait, nvm, seems it's just a game quirk. it doesn't ask for a z-buffer, so wine doesn't give it one
there's an engine option to set it

Attached: 2019-01-24-025344_1920x1080_scrot.jpg (1920x1080, 672K)

kek, reading further, it's a game bug which is a result of improper windows/windows driver behaviour
the games doesn't specify what depth/stencil buffer depth it wants, and it just gets back whatever happens to be the defaults from the windows driver for that mode/colour depth
the game assumes it will get 16/16bit, but never actually asks for it or checks if it got that

Interesting

Damn... Dies Iraes now works, last time I tried this game I ran like complete garbage.

>lib32-systemd-239.6-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
what, why do you need systemd to install wine?

What can you do in Vulcan that you cant do in OpenGL?

Attached: eva.jpg (670x413, 96K)

Write a DE that isn't shit

But can it run the zune software now?

>still can't run machine translation for VN.

I'm still waiting for Windows 10 version.

Convert DX11 to Vulkan with 90% efficiency fully feature complete developed in 12 months.

Just set your wine prefix to win 10?

He forgot to arch equivalent "apt update" before the "apt install"

steam link

Install Linux Mint and stop measuring your manhood by how difficult it is to install software.

Why mint?

And yet Proton somehow is even less reliable than vanilla wine. What the fuck is Valve doing.

>it probably runs more old games than windows at this point
Literally impossible, windows games run on windows (versions) but not on wine.
>Because emulating windows is better at running older Windows programs than Windows.
Again you faggots are retarded.

God wine is based, I can uninstall windows and keep my eroge thanks to it

>being this stupid

I just installed wine 4 from the debian offical repos
(see pic)

$ wine --version
wine-3.2 (Debian 3.2-1)

Why isn't it version 4

So can I run office 2016 on Linux now?

>rc6

You've been able to do that for a while user.
CodeWeavers pretty much exist soley to make msoffice work in Wine.
codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/microsoft-office-2016
If it runs in crossover, it'll run in an equally new or newer version of wine.

I would like to use this thread to say: fuck you Codeweavers.

so does battleye work yet
does ps2 work yet

Without them wine would be as useful as ReactOS is now.
