Checklist: Complete Anonymity/Privacy

Have been researching this for a bit lately and is this all it takes to browse/post stuff while being basically anonymous?

Laptop mode:
>buy used laptop off ebay/locally using cash
>run TAILS
>go to starbucks or mcdonalds
>browse through tor and public wifi
>maybe using bridges
Does a VPN help with that even more? Are bridges worth it?

Mobile:
>swiped mobile phone, also used and rooted
>LineageOS, no Google services
>F-Droid: only Orbot, Orfox installed and running
>public wifi again

Now, if one could somehow stay under the radar from cameras and surveillance too and if the devices never made contact with home wifi and personal info... Is this enough to be untraceable? Which one would you prefer?
I think TAILS would of course be way safer but surfing on a clunky laptop for 3 hours at starbucks is weird, a clean LineageOS phone (old Samsung for example) is probably easier attacked but it's way more discreet. Did I miss something?

give it back jamal

Don't go inside the McDonalds / Starbucks just park your car outside

Relatedly, I was wondering yesterday if there is some guide somewhere for optimizing op-sec so that a future Snowden-type person can evade the botnet.

Even for corporate whistle-blowers that kind of security might be useful.

>forgets that keyloggers can find you everywhere by way you type
Also, how the fuck are you installing tails? If a new IP randomly appears in your town with tails OS they will just find you over IPs who downloaded tails which the company might track.

Good idea
Yeah that's what I'm talking about, when your oppressive gov could really get hurt by your activity and they're out to get you.
I don't think anything can detect that you're using TAILS, just tor. And in a million people city it should be scattered enough. Also, of course rewriting every sentence so they can't correlate to you but that's majorly autistic.

>If a new IP randomly appears in your town with tails OS they will just find you over IPs who downloaded tails which the company might track.
what the fuck did you mean by this?
tails traffic looks the same as Tor traffic, and tails can be downloaded from literally a billion mirrors, including onion ones.

That's not how you get anonymous, larper.
Firstly, this:
>buy used laptop off ebay/locally using cash
>swiped mobile phone, also used and rooted
>run TAILS
You got to use shitty used laptop and phone and run TAILS, which is privacy oriented and probably shit at everything else. That is definitely not convenient enough for average everyday go-to setup. That actually sounds like glow in the darks are about to get you, so you cope with used stuff and shitty distro to stay in shadow.
OK, I can imagine that, but:
>Android phone
>not using a feature phone
Even a feature phone is a personal tracking device while cellular is on, ungoogled android is just a botnet disaster. If you need internet, just use your laptop. Be sure to disable Wi-Fi module on it after session, too. Librem laptops have kill switches for that btw.
>Now, if one could somehow stay under the radar from cameras and surveillance too
Holy fuck, you are actually a larper. People under 18 are not allowed here.
>surfing on a clunky laptop for 3 hours at starbucks is weird
Not weird at all, that's basically me writing lectures and programming when I have some classes missing. Coffee shops are built for that.

>anonymous
No such thing. The moment you connect to the net is the moment your anonymity goes out the window. Sure, you can do all kinds of things to mitigate data collection and surveillance, and you should, but anyone determined to unmask you will find the resources to do so.

>buy used laptop off ebay/locally using cash
Not ebay. Just locally.

>run TAILS
Tails or Qubes+Whonix. Depends on your purpose.

>maybe using bridges
Use meeks. It's integrated in Tor

>Does a VPN help with that even more?
A VPN doesn't help. If you do You->Tor->VPN, you make yourself pseudonymous.
If you add a VPN, before Tor, you still have to pay for a VPN, which leaves tracks.
Just use Meeks.

>swiped mobile phone, also used and rooted
You won't get an untracable phone.
If you connect to your provider, they know, which gsm station you use. They can trace you to some hundred meters.
Use a phone with rattlesnake OS and assure, everything you do on it will be tracked (and use Signal).

Also don't take the phone with you, if you don't want to get tracked.

>just park your car outside
Get an old car. New cars safe your location regulary and as soon you bring your car to your mechanic, the data will go to your car producer.
New cars with Android Auto or another "smart" OS are spyware btw. Just get a cool full-mechanic car.

Also void big cities with cams. Rural areas and small cities (

user's amazing guide on not being found irl by online fag (not a corporation/government):
-tails mirror
-cash irl bought laptop
-internet cafes, different one every visit, different time
-wiping image metadata
-foreign keyboard layout
-strip the laptop off anything but bare minimum peripherals
-dress up/alter face if the fag decides to find the cafe and socially engineer

this thread is bait

Cameras cost like 200 bucks now, even small towns now have cameras everywhere because it's retarded to own a business and not have them. Not even for theft, but just for knowing what is going on inside your store.

If you want to whistleblow in todays age, you have to leave the country and go live in loliland russia.

Attached: pepe-fbi.jpg (499x499, 74K)

>now have cameras everywhere
Except every business has to inform you, thanks to GDPR before you enter.
Some stores doesn't have cameras, and these who have cams must delete the recordings after 72 hours.

Interesting. That sounds good.
It's really not, I'm not too good with that stuff.
Thanks for the info. It's a given for me not to use a SIM, always in flight mode and only turn on Wi-Fi at public cafes with orbot and only orfox running. Is that enough? Tails would be better of course, I guess it's way easier to control that system and prevent leaks.
Not a larper, again. Thanks for the info.

I'm sure that argument will work when you're under investigation for stealing corporate secrets. The fact is that shit would never come into court, because they'd just use it to find you and never mention that they did that. If they really wanted to, yeah, they could also report the business for not informing customers of their fucking Nest cam, but there is no FBI agent that is going to bother with that - especially after they just got helped find a criminal.

And these knuckleheads talking about driving through neighborhoods, you're driving by 30 Ring doorbells and 50 cameras. You can't take a shit today without the government knowing about it if they really want to.

If you whistleblow, you do it quickly and then go on """vacation""" and never come back.

Now if you just want to look at some animal porn or something then knock yourself out with Tails, the government doesn't care enough to prosecute some guy jerking off to horse porn.

Also, I know about image metadata stuff and changing the way you type, going to different cafes each time, etc..

>never come into court
>FBI agent
First I want to say, that the FBI only works inside the USA. Not in Europe.
In Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland there aren't any secret courts like you have in the USA.
In my country our secret service has nearly no rights inside the country and if they would do anything illegal, you can be sure opposition parties
will submit a distrust applicant to the current gov. It's not like in the USA, which only has two parties in power.

I life in a village with

>In Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland there aren't any secret courts like you have in the USA.
Oh interesting! So you mean in Germany there is no equivalent to the FBI? People can just go around and steal corporate secrets from Porsche and sell them and then the government doesn't do anything to track them? The Bundesnachrichtendienst doesn't bother with any of that huh?

Also the FBI doesn't have a secret court you dumbass. It goes into regular federal court.

you can take sweden off your list there, we have the säkerhetspolisen

Wow, that's a lot of trouble to browse that absolute shithole. What good has Jow Forums or Jow Forums at all brought to your life really?

> First I want to say, that the FBI only works inside the USA. Not in Europe.
Uh-huh, but then again they can cooperate with European forces to "extract" somebody, as they call it. Which means they do operate in Europe if they need to.

It's also not only about Jow Forums, it's about browsing suspicious shit or having another personality online that isn't connected to your existing one.

fair enough

1. turn off computer/laptop/phone
2. leave the house without them

glow-in-the-dark african american members of intelligence agencies HATE this one neat trick!

You need a car made on the 90s or earlier. Maybe early 2000s are safe. New cars have gps functionality.

I just said, these countries doesn't have a secret court, dumbass.

> It goes into regular federal court.
No. You ever listened to Snowden?
No you didn't.

>Bundesnachrichtendienst
Isn't a secret court.
It's an Intelligence Agency.

Yeah, but they are not interested in europeans, who didn't harm the USA.

OP here, germanfag btw

shouldn't you be busy getting cucked by refugees?

If Snowden wouldn't have ran to Russia he'd have been heard in federal court.

>You ever listened to Snowden?
do you even know the snowden story? the fbi works like any other federal investigative agency. the fbi can't even arrest people, they have to ask the cops to do that. that's why when you see those 'raids' and shit there are always regular police there doing the actual arresting. they don't have a secret court, they don't even have a court at all!

if there is anyone to accuse of sketchy shit it is the CIA.

The FBI does not prosecute cases. It provides investigative information to United States attorneys office, who then use that information to decide whether to prosecute. It is not a national police force, state and local law enforcement agencies are not subservient to the FBI. It's simply a different jurisdiction for different kinds of crimes. If a crime partly involves FBI jurisdiction, or if it is serious enough to require FBI involvement, then the FBI forms a task force in which agents will work closely with state and local police. There is no secret court, cases are tried at federal court houses located in every city. If Snowden hadn't have ran, he would have been tried in a federal court house.

Regarding your thoughts of being safe from prosecution in the countries you listed, the FBI has 63 "legats" and more than two dozen smaller sub-offices in key cities around the globe, providing coverage for more than 180 countries, territories, and islands. Each office is established through mutual agreement with the host country and is situated in the U.S. embassy or consulate in that nation. All the countries you mentioned have an office that the FBI works with. Your country will arrest you if you commit the sort of crimes you are probably attempting.

Be well. :^)

I have an old smartphone lying around, used to use it a lot. So it was connected to me quite a lot (home wifi, google accs, etc). If I scrap it clean and put lineageos in there without google services and do what OP says, only public wifi, only tor, no sim would it keep me hidden?
