I was really looking forward update to 4K but current monitors suck

>falling for the 4k meme

I was wondering this too, but i would mainly be player older games, very few newer games get my attention anymore, been let down to manys times to get excited
Also im going to be doing blender work
Am i going to see much benefit from a 27 inch 4k?

there is a 27" 2560x1440@240Hz TN Lenovo that looks great to me, as well as the ~43" UHD@120Hz VA and IPS displays coming out later this year.

can somebody post a comprehensive guide about computer monitors?
why is 4k a meme?

I plan to build my own with a Lenovo thinkvision X1 panel (just a custom LM270WR3), eDP controller/LED driver and steel frame.
Will probably end up somewhere around $250. Not sure if there are half decent 4K monitors at this price.

>Also im going to be doing blender work

Trying to get into 3D stuff and shit, nothing "serious" no CAD or stuff like that. Are curved monitors ok for that?

Im pretty new to this aswell, got a quarter way through a udemy course a few years ago but my laptop blew up, but im coming into some cash and going to build a new rig
Been wondering about the curved panels myself

>udemy course

Drop me a link, I'm sure that if it costs me I'm more prone to stick with it.

Stop saying everything is a meme with no reasoning. You are the cancer that infests this and many other boards.

This is not a monitor but there are no monitors slated to be a 4k 120hz freesync OLED

Good time to snatch a few up
Been awhile so i dont know how it is now but they had sales like this all the time

System thinks its spam, but search blender and a list will come up, some decent looking courses there now

>TN
why are you even here

There's an Alienware 55" OLED coming out too

It's nothing more than the LG TVs but rebranded and sold for 3x the cost
If that wasn't the case I would be very, very surprised

It's obviously using an LG panel, but it has displayport 1.4 unlike the TVs. This is important if you want high refresh at 4k, since no GPUs support HDMI 2.1 yet (which the TVs will have). Also the price isn't announced yet. May still not be worth it, but we'll see.

I'd really like a cheap 27" 4K VA panel, 75Hz Freesync, I have a 144Hz and really after 60hz up is not that much of a diference, adaptive sync on the other hand is a great feature

IGZO exists

And? You probably don't even know what that is.

MEMS is almost here

DLP has been around for years, and I'm not aware of any new display tech based on MEMS

This. Also, everybody knows SED is where its at, niqqa.

For gaming, the increase in clarity over 1440p isn't worth the:
>Price
>Increased latency
>Performance hit

For movies, get a T.V.

I was waiting on 4K 32" VA or ips with 75+hz to be announced on ces.

But sadly nothing.

Some of us want to work on 4k monitors and at the same time hate the 60hz crap

anandtech.com/show/13297/acer-announces-nitro-xv273k-monitor-4kp144-displayhdr-400-freesync

This 1440p 144hz 1ms hdr400 freesync 27'' for just 500 dollars.

IGZO was slated to get MEMS 2017. No info at all since

Yeah I might be a faggot. But at least Im not an snime fag who can't see past 60frames a second.

i bet you shill for IPS lol

i was gonna get the Samsung C27HG70, opinions? theres also a 32 inch version but im not quite sure if 1440p at that size wouldnt basically end up looking like a 1080p screen
