What to upgrade, and to what? As far as Im aware the parts I have from like 7 years ago are still going strong comparatively to what's on the market today.

If you don't feel the need to upgrade don't.
t. on x58.

Upgrade cpu once Zen 2 is out (or wait for the next gen intel if you dont like amd) if anything, Video card to maybe a 2060 as much as I dont like Nvidia atm, its reasonably priced

damn dem khazar milkers

Just get new gpu if you don't have enough fps in games of your choice.

what gpu tho

open task manager and see what's hitting 100% when your pc is feeling slow. upgrade that.

This is close to what I run but with a 1070ti and I only built it 2 years ago. If you feel the need to upgrade just do the GPU get a 1070ti or a 2060.

Milky milky

Nice.
My current setup is
>3930k
>7970GHz
>16Gb RAM

I'm waiting for Zen2 Threadrypper and new AMD GPU.

If you want a new CPU wait for Ryzen 3000 series, prices are expected to remain low and performance should increase quite a bit.
As for the GPU, maybe wait for the GTX 1160/1660

Great thread

That was my first build. Upgrade your GPU. I upgraded to a 1060 3GB and it runs a lot of things on high. I plan on upgrading this summer.

It just feels like a waste to dump like $500 on a new card for marginally increased performance. Why is my ancient hardware still good?

>$500
You can get a 1060 6GB for like, $250-$300.

thats a though question to answer without you specifying what you will use the machine for. i would suggest upgrading to an SSD if you havent already and upgrading the GPU. the only reason i suggest those upgrades is because you can easily transplant them into a system with a better CPU and more RAM down the road.

if you look at where your CPU stands compared to what is currently on the market i think it would be a waste to attach more RAM to it.

but video cards are easy to swap. so eventually when you buy a new board/cpu/ram you can move the 1080 over to it and drop the 7970 back in.

I upgraded my 3570k to Ryzen 2600x just two weeks ago.

Use Afterburner/Rivatuner to check how much of your CPU and GPU are being used to see which one is causing more lag
If you aren't noticing any lag though then there isn't really a reason to upgrade

How do you cool the Ryzen? Any OC? What RAM? What's your mobo?
I'm thinking about that exact upgrade for february

Nice rack and pretty face too.

Why the heck can't we modify women to have all that almost-awesome body?

kazahar milkies

Khazra milkers?

2600 + 2060

2+6 are the only numbers you should care about

Me 2 :) I just need to mod my board so I can use 6 core xeons

what about 0

>i5 6600k

I am feeling the itch to go to a smaller case but thats about it.

I'd go for the GPU, since it's around 8 years old and GPUs usually die sooner than CPUs.
If you wanna be conservative go for the RX570, best bang for buck rn. If you shit money then just get the most powerful you want.

Did you know that parts literally have not improved in any way since 2011?

This is probably the least intelligent thing ever said.

I have almost same system and it runs perfectly in 2019 even with 2 4k displays.
it's strange, where is planned obsolescence?

You need a new CPU, and that means you need a new mobo and DDR4 RAM as well. May as well get a new GPU to boot. Get an SSD, too. Basically you need to upgrade everything.

>i5-6600

Only urgent upgrade I need is to get another 8Gb kit of Ram for VM work. But it rather hard to find the same spec kit for a good price.

gpu first, cause cpu means mobo and ram too. cpu will last you a bit more too. get an rx580

You know you are supposed to flip your used GPU for like $100 to recoup the cost a new one, right?

But vulnerabilities make them obsolete

where the fuck am I supposed to sell it?

>Unplug internet
It's fixed.

internet

2700x
16gb 14cl flare-x 3200
Gtx 1080 is the weakest link barely beats a stock 56 and 2060
Waiting for 7nm and Arcturus or even high end turing without the rt shit

i have a RX580 and it is a piece of crap, i am going to replace it with a GeForce 1030 that has half the ram,

Or you could get a Vega 56 or 1080ti and not upgrade for years

Are they even doing a 1160? They just jumped to 20x0

Keep in mind when you upgrade the CPU, you will also need:
>new mobo
>DDR4 RAM

I'm in the same boat as you, also 3570k. Postponing it as long as possible.
