I can get the XZ3 for only 50$ since I am a long term customer.
I don't want to pay 500$+ for a new phone and I have to hope that my provider will have the XZ4 available so fast.

Yes, but you couldn't install apps to your SD card after a certain Android update (maybe lollipop? I can't recall)
Also, downloading stuff from apps to your SD card would for some reason deduct available storage from your internal storage as well (like Google Play Music, Comixology, ...)
