man fuck all of this retro computer bullshit. seriously. fuck all of it. anyone who's into it never had to suffer through getting their MS DOS Windows 1 install working over and over again in an incomprehensible system with constant hardware failures, fans that sound like jet engines, and hard drives that sound like babby's first time learning stick shift. using these computers for real work was horrible. things broke for no reason, and hardware failures meant that those commands you spent a while to learn and use to navigate something as trivial and stupid as a filesystem in DOS would stop working for no explicable reason. I worked on horrible Zenith systems back in the day and let me tell you anyone who idolizes these machines uses them as cool toys because looking at anything with this "aesthetic" (re: horrible shit-stained boxes) brings back so much PTSD for me. I can't believe people are willing to pay out of the ass for this stuff and autistic hipsters on YouTube make their living doing restoration videos on technology that deserves to be burned. Fuck everyone.

Not him but I can hear a faint static noise from both of my CRTs. I've had both for roughly a decade and one was new in the box when I got it, so the noise isn't from overuse or something stupid. One of them is an SGI branded CRT, so it was a damn good display when it was being sold. The other is a decent Dell.

Only people who've never witnessed flagship CRTs or don't think about the fact that CRTs development was ceased long before they were fully mastered deny this. One of the first 4k monitors was a CRT made in two thousand plus fucking three. It was made by HP. I can't find it, but for the love of God, I know it exists. It's not fair, bros.
