PPA is an outdated concept

Amazon
>but it is opt-in now
You still did it

you were the chosen one, the one to bring the year of the linux desktop once and for all
then you fucked it up with and systemdicks

Jow Forums-kun is massively autistic and drawn to terrible user experiences that are also only used by few people.
Linux distros have traditionally provided both, but then... that cursed distro! It strived to make Linux usable for everyone and brought in many(a couple of) normies!
>CURSED! DAMN IT! MUH LOON0X! MUH SEEKRET KLUB!

Essentially this: That's also why people hate Manjaro by making the Archlinux experience easily accessible.
Remember kids. You're only cool if installing your OS took you a day.

I am using ubuntu LTS 18.04

Attached: 1491408324437.jpg (401x349, 42K)

I am using kubuntu 18.04 LTS

because you got rid of unity? faggot.

I quite like you :3

I don't but then again the version I'm trying is actually xubuntu because what I'm using for this is an old core2duo machine and xfce was said to work better for older systems. Hasn't really been a problem and some of the problems may just be the shitty old hardware.

They also hate that us gamers are coming in, a lot of us hardly being normies .

lol before Gnome everyone was complaining about Unity and crying about how shit it was

I don't, Mr or Mrs Ubuntu.

>for-profit GNU+Linux

no

>still no wayland

I just want something hipstery like arch linux

man that twink is gonna get wrecked by tyrone

what did they mean by this

wayland fucking sucks and won’t be production ready any time soon

Unnecessary.

There are better options.

Because we're hipsters. We only like unpopular distros that normies can't successfully install or operate. We also require a complete rewrite of the package manager every 10-15 years even if the existing one works fine.

Come on, Unity was never good. Kubuntu master race. Xubuntu for slower PCs.

I don't hate Ubuntu, I love Ubuntu 19.04 Testing Branch with Openbox!

I don't. I'm using Ubuntu Mate 18.04. I've got it looking just like Gnome 2 and it's like 2006 again with a better browser.

Gamers rise up
Us, gamers, must unite to destroy the elite

At least I don't.
As long I can get my anime, 2D porn, and golden-shit expensive textbooks, you're good.

>arch is hard
When will the meme end? It actually isn't, just the installation guide is fucking retarded and doesn't have an auto installer. After it's up it is very easy to maintain. It's like ubuntu with different commands and less packages that you never use. Install them as you go.

But why would you go through the process of for example partitioning your hard drive with cli? It's not 1994 anymore...

literally can't get nvidia drivers to run on it. works fine on my deepin installation

Check the box in the drivers dialog box. What could be simpler? Or did you break your Ubuntu?

you ship spyware, you are purposefully proprietary, you give little to nothing back to the upstream

This

What is SUSE

Based. The best of both worlds.

because youre a bloated botnet monkey nigger

I don't, you're my favorite

Unity was a mistake as Gnome 3 and KD4.

I only like you when I use the net install option.

I don't, Mint Xfce is just objectively better than Xubuntu.

Yeah I mean we want to break free from Windows too they rather Microsoft have more marketshare and therefore money and power?

It's good for normalfags getting into GANOO/Linux systems or for people who want something that just werks. But if you get deeper into distros and desktop environments, Ubuntu become redundant. Don't get me wrong, it's a great distro, but it isn't necessarily for tech enthusiasts.

>ubuntu
>3 dindus holding hands

they're the same distro

Because you didn't just werk on my laptop and had several issues out of the box. Meanwhile a fresh Arch install is fucking flawless.

What are you going to do if you fuck up X? Reinstall? Miss me with that gay shit fucktard. You should probably get familiar with the command line newfag.

Because PCLinuxOS is superior for the desktop in every way besides OOTB DE support; though that would be mitigated if it was more popular. Especially because:
>no systemDong

Really? How?

This.
everyone != footfags

I love my xubuntu 18.04 setup and use it as my daily driver....maybe will install gentoo or arch on a laptob and use debian on my phone.

Just xubuntu 18.10 on my laptop and netbook.
I've ran into a few edge case problems but only a few hours of hair ripping was I able to solve them.

My main desktop PC though has Windows and the laptops turn into thin clients or servers as I need them.

This but unironically
t. newfag ubuntu user

>that pic

Which yugioh card is that?

youtube.com/watch?v=CP8CNp-vksc

Became botnet before Microsoft.

lubuntu 16.04, redhat before this
and basically your distro is a cuck

Jow Forums hates anything that is remotely functional. If it isn’t making you pull your hair out, you’re doing it wrong.

Because >outdated irrelevant strawman

I loved the old you, the one that really was inclusive of old hardware.
I hate the new you, the one who takes silly directions for the sake of "convenience" and "prettyness"...

I hated when newyou made too much unwanted changes that didn't stick for long.

I don't hate it, but I much prefer the AUR over PPAs.

xubuntu is unironically the best

You mean people with too much time. Even Alpha programmer Linus, before he went into exile, stated he used it because he just wanted something that worked. What the fuck do you mean by tech enthusiast.

My problem with Ubuntu is the repos. Software is sometimes years out of date, and its clear Canonical wants to push everyone onto flatpaks/snaps/appimages so the burden of maintaining repos is no longer on them. The only people who hate on it because its user friendly are autistic suckless fags.

This is why nobody fucking uses Linux. You don't need to be familiar with commandline shit in Windows.

>You don't need to be familiar with commandline shit in Windows.
Thats because the Windows Way is to just reinstall when you have issues.

>Linus Tech Tips

Ubuntu minimal is good.

I should have chosen better words, I mean the ricer/tinkerer sort of computer user, who enjoys tweaking and modifying his system.

>After it's up it is very easy to maintain
>rolling model breaks crucial packages
Ok

>Ubuntu become redundant
You can literally run a minimal install and uninstall apt if you really care to. There's literally nothing holding you back from running it like Slackware (for example).

I'm considering installing this and replacing systemd with init, what's this shit about amazon?

Gdm> settings gear> Ubuntu on Wayland.
Enjoy uselessness

Jow Forums is full of gatekeeping hipsters that need to feel superior to masses without actually doing any work

>want to use moonlight on xubuntu
>only sane normie-proof way to get it is flatpak
>1GB KDE dependency
While I normally wouldn't care, this is a on a 32GB (30) eMMC. The application itself is a couple MB.
Just to stream some pictures and audio over the network/internet.

Pic related, actually 1.4GB. 11% of the storage for KDE just for one app.

Sure, some of the blame can be directed at Moonlight for depending on it.

Attached: Untitled.png (913x489, 52K)

nah, you're alright

Gnome Devs refuse to use canonicals performance patches

where my lubuntu 18.10 bros at? lxqt is comfy af.

Leftover sentiment from back when they tried to incorporate Amazon shit, pretend they're not Linux, and take measures to make Unity and Wayland be Ubuntu-only things

Also there used to be a time when Xubuntu didn't come with LibreOffice as the default word processor and spreadsheet editor (it came with AbiWord and I forgot what dreadful thing they had for spreadsheets) which made the Xfce version of Linux Mint a more attractive option since there's less fucking around that needed to be done after a fresh install to make it usable. Although this problem in Xubuntu has been taken care of, I still go to Linux Mint first out of habit.
