I only keep files that spark joy

If I did this, my hard drive would be filled with nothing but video games and porn.

I don't. I just remember where they are.

I keep incremental backups on external hard disks and realize that when I die (hopefully soon) they will be thrown in the trash since they are the ramblings of a madman and completely useless just like me

>when I die (hopefully soon)

I don't. It's an ever-ending cycle of creation and destruction.
I accumulate until somethings fucks up then I start again from the ground up.
The way Nature intended to.

I can relate

I have a folder in desktop where I put everything without any folders. I use cortana to find files I need.
Ofc, you at least have to rename the files first.. no, I am not talking about meme pictures.

Somebody should make a machine learning file indexer
>find the smug anime girls
>find laughing anime girls in classroom

I just put everything in My Documents

>Desktops/Desktop1
>Desktops/Desktop2
>Desktops/Desktop3
...
>Desktops/Desktop304
its really nice to get back in time up to 2009 and see what i was doing that time

Create a folder called "Old shit". Move everything in there.

I keep all my data in a separate partition because programs love shitting up ~ with random garbage. Organized files obviously go in their respective directories, while unorganized shit goes in Temp. I periodically go through it to move or remove files.

If only I kept my room as organized as my computer.

kinda like this
but helped a bit by NTFS's metadata cache thing so searching back anything is instant as long as I remember the names

downloads/
ebooks/
lubricant/
music/
notes/

I started using tag my shit up (tmsu) a few months ago. So far so good.

Basically just a stand-alone indexer that doesn't suck dick. So I just dump stuff into vague categories and then sort them out later.

And I mean for stuff you might never look at again, who cares? Just make sure your frequently used dirs are clean.

ncdu is another great tool to quickly scan through dirs.

Use folders to categorize my files like everyone without a mental disability does. It aint hard OP

Everyday shit on my laptop's SSD. Media on an external SSD. And every once in a while I connect an external HDD to back up both.

Really I should have the HDD as a NAS for backup but my shit cheap router doesn't have USB.

I organize my files

i don't organize anything

Attached: JAV_Collection_Organized_04_01_2018.png (1886x4015, 1.74M)

I just make directories and name them for what they have inside
Simple

Attached: Capture.png (6400x1440, 1.44M)

I perfectly sort personal files like CV and stuff in categories and alphanumerical.
I have a shit ton of TV-series (about 60TB and i don't even need to search more than 3 seconds for a specific series or episode.

My wife's computer is a complete mess, she saves every single file on desktop until she can't see the background picture anymore.
Then she asks me to "repair" her messed up computer because she can't reach the shortcuts anymore.
I once freaked out over it and repacked a 14 season TV-Series into 100KB .rar files and unpacked these 960 GB on her desktop.
She didn't talk to me in four days. Hahahaha

Can you fucktards believe this???? in order to clean up the mess herself, she used ctrl+leftclick and rightclick menue erase.
It took her hours.

Attached: Faschist Olsen Twins.png (1080x810, 1.69M)

I'm proud for her that she knows ctrl click desu
Normally women are even more clueless. You got a keeper, user

>You got a keeper, user
Acid test is showing them how globbing works and see if they get excited.

Agree, that's why i married her, but her computer mess she's producing makes me angry as shit.
I even made her folders on C and D (second partition)
But she does never use these folders and still saves everything on desktop. Even when i route her Browser to at least save it into a downloads folder. She just goes into the settings and enables "desktop rape modus" again.
But that's how females are.
I tell you man, if chicks would be in charge over this planet, we would still live in caves and hunt fucking deers for hamburgers.

Attached: 1498562149002.jpg (1200x1600, 202K)

I wrote an Ai that sorts the pictures
> anime
>> hentai
> possibly meme
> people
>> porn
> reaction image
From there I run another AI that is specifically trained to sort the files in each sub category
For example
> anime
> characters with common looks
> image searches a few to get an idea where it came from
> get name of anime or character
> name folder
And so on

wow the casual sexism
as if the average guy knows computers

What are you doing here? I hope your mother dies of cancer, normalfag.

share with us, user. Might have to write my own otherwise.

No folders, only tags.

at that point wouldn't tagging pictures like on boorus be easier?

>>I keep all my data in a separate partition because programs love shitting up ~ with random garbage.
this man knows whats up

I save the covers, with a name like "ABC-123 Super Happy Sex Video Title -- Akari Akaza + Chinatsu Yoshikawa.jpg" Then when I want to find a certain actress I can search them, or if I just want to browse around for what I feel like that day I just scroll through the covers in an image viewer.

I don't know about him but I don't want to be dependent on anything except directory and file names. Tags are great when you have a torrent site with thousands of users so everything rapidly gets a bunch of tags added to it, much less so when you have to make sure things are tagged yourself. Also that'd make me dependent on whatever tag-database thing I chose in order to find anything. Filenames can be searched by anything.

>finding something is instant if you know where it is
whoa

>I don't know about him but I don't want to be dependent on anything except directory and file names. This!!!!!
I use to write the complete filename correctly and sort stuff in their respective folders and if needed in sub folders also.
I never had any problems finding any kind of stuff. No matter how old it is or for how long i had it stored.

My entire mp3 collection is organized this way, but i also have the ID3 tags filled in correctly in this case.

It's pretty easy
I'm thinking of rewriting it so I can use a single AI to sort all the data. Maybe store the training info in the folder as a dot file. I also want to let the user specify data to train on, right now it's not very user friendly

My goal of the project is a general AI that can determine contents of a picture and sort into folders. I also want to let the user specify what data is considered what so you can make your own custom profile of let's say modern skyscrapers or something. I haven't had much time to work on It lately but I'll probably make a thread here when I finish and share it with Jow Forums
It's all going to be cli based with an easy to use menu and/or the ability to pass arguments to it

>it's pretty easy, yeah I'm not going to post any technical details whatsoever
Post a repo and I might contribute

Attached: 1549028639534.jpg (250x250, 8K)

>He thinks we're on Jow Forums.org
embarrassing

It's not that hard. My documents are all in /home/myname/Documents/ segregated by what they are. I have my old high school stuff and college stuff in their own folders, and a separate folder for text books and my coding projects. I also have my misc folder which is really just stuff that I either don't have enough of to give it its own folder or stuff that I'm going to delete once I no longer need. Don't store anything in your desktop. The desktop is for displaying anime papes and maybe some widgets if you're into that. Organizing files isn't that hard

Attached: 1544052778646.jpg (960x953, 127K)

> no technical details
Well it's in python
I would also like to rewrite It in C or C++
I'm not home, I'm a phone poster right now and typing up everything would drive me insane

Also I don't want to share the source yet. At least not right now as its kind of messy and in the early stages with like 2 comments
Just check out /dpt/ every once in a whole and you'll probably see a post when I finish or make it public

by date is suprisely well

I just say "fuck it" and copy all files on my hdd to a folder on my NAS, then reformat. I can search for shit if I ever need it (probably never).

> uni
Fucking underage get b&

We are in the safe space of 4chin newfriend

By date, but Linux can't do that

user are you okay? Forgot your meds again?
Haha le controversial XDD

Tags in file names. Hydrus has better capabilities obviously but I just love being able to search from the file picker.

things/dontclick/cp/cp

I see someone saved my image.
It is organized, by vendor ID, faglord.

Visual is for pictures and erotic literature. Audio-visual for videos.

I stole my more general scheme from No. 69242095 in this thread: warosu.org/g/thread/S69235894

Searching, "file organization" yields a lot of great tips, fellow autists.
