My favorite combination is archlinux + awesomewm but I've been using Fedora + Gnome 3 for two weeks and while I still don't like it I admit everything works very well.
Under X11 I have to fiddle with compositors and drivers in order to have a smooth graphical experience but under Wayland everything is just great out of the box.
