For me, it's etcher io.

i thought these retards died a year ago
For me it's dd.
Can't write windows iso's
its rufus for me
There's dd for Windows that uses disk root paths. Same functionality.
70mbs or something to do a simple thing of putting an iso file on a USB stick ?
Absolute fucking shame, developers should be treated like the witches of old.
>electron garbage
just what dd needed... a web browser engine.
i prefer pv, myself
ivarch.com
>a fucking electron iso writer
ban electron now
I feel so embarrassed right now.... :/ I unironically used etcher because I just wanted a simple rufus-like for unix. I have since learned dd is pretty easy, but I still don't like that it doesn't have a proper functional progress meter. Rufus is still my goto on windows.
# pv < thing.iso > /dev/sdz
gives you speed, progress (% and a bar), and eta by default
it's like, 60K
running example ("screenshot")
# pv < /dev/sda > /dev/null

You need to go back
For me it's win32diskimager
doesn't work when imdisk is running
dd if= of=
Okay wow look it's dd for itoddlers
For me it's fedora media writer
>There's dd for Windows
Not useful for turning a linux box back into a proper windows workstation
this on windows
dd on nix
>proper workstation
>windows
Pick one
dd if=/path/to/iso/ of=/dev/disk# bs=1m
The only reliable one I've found for Ubuntu
God I hate that this exists.
Guys.
We could do this with a simple dd command
but no
Lets bring some fucking botnet electron app out to do it for you.
Retards.
in my experience a simple
cat imgs > /dev/disk#
seems to be faster
Why not just use dd?
This shit is useless for Windows, I tried it and it didn't do the fucking job. If I'm going to use a tool for bootable linux distros, I'm going to use dd, fuck your "io" shit.
I'd just like to mention that this application uses like 300MB of ram for...
Lord only knows what
B.. but sometimes you have to format and make a partition!
I never seen that one before. I'll give it a try later on, would be nice to have a faster option.
epic xd u showd us
Unused RAM is wasted RAM.
>if windows
Win32DiskImager
>Anything else
DD
>Unused RAM is wasted RAM.
That's why you need to waste it on electron trash.
You don't need to, but you can, and it's free, since that RAM was unused. Or do you like to keep an array of arcane bullshit strings like "pv < image > /dev/oh I forgot to run lsblk, lets run it first because I don't remember disk indexes" in your head?
oh yes, downloading shitty bloatware is so much more convenient than running two simple commands that have worked for decades
>not using a native tool included with your OS
dd if= of= status=progress
wintoddlers don't have one
(not sure about ipajeets)
(this really shouldn't have to be that many people)
Use this: cp iso /dev/sdX
lul
For me it's dd
...
I never understood why this doesn't work. Why can't I just copy the files over to the drive? Why is "flashing" a thing? What even is an .iso?
You are a brainlet and should look up how storage devices are handled at a lower level. The command does work btw. It literally writes the iso to the block device, just like your other "flashing" utilities.
pass status=progress dumbass
