RIGHT-HAND EXHAUST LOL

Jow Forums please help me
i was gonna buy this perfect x220 but some shit happened with my paypal, it got sold and now there just nothing like it on eBay.
All i do is refresh and refresh over and over again on eBay with no result

well the dock is supposed to use a 135w charger so it could be a power issue

Attached: 1505107182468.jpg (867x720, 110K)

you'll find one getting good deals can take weeks when you aren't a burger this is going to end soon which is a prett good deal but it's an x230 ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-Thinkpad-X230-i5-3320M-2-60GHz-4GB-Ram-500GB-Win10-Pro-SEE-FULL-LISTING/264181685206?hash=item3d82749bd6:g:PCsAAOSwF7lcWbUU

what's wrong with it? it feels superior to when I had exhaust on the left and it would burn your hand whenever your hand was on the left side of the keyboard during high load, the muh mouse hand gets warm from the vent argument is fucking retarded just move a mouse to side and it's literally non issue

uwu

Attached: IMG_1490.rotated.jpg (3024x4032, 1.36M)

For starters, it will be internally different than previous models.

What's the difference between this and a normal T480?

Motivating myself to draw with my x230t!

Attached: IMG_20190208_204213.jpg (999x720, 193K)

>even the T series is turning into Apple knockoffs
Oh no no no

i really prefer an x220 instead but either way eBay says the seller doesn't ship to my country.
Thanks anyway though

start drawing and post so i have motivation to draw on my x230

Attached: 1514007182890.png (800x1132, 702K)

...

Got my T420 recently. Have to say I absolutely love it. Certainly is a beauty.

Attached: IMG_20190213_001739_834.jpg (1280x960, 140K)

Does the x230 tablet really only have about 2 hours of battery life? Why is it so much worse than the normal x230?

if i get a machine with a fingerprint scanner and put GNU on it, will the scanner be worthless?

Higly doubtable. it would at least detect screen.

Redpill me on the L series. Is it shit?

Yes. Hurd is not ready yet.

the entire machine will be worthless

like a shit wrapped in candy foil

are they getting rid of external batteries? jesus fucking christ

Fuck off samefag

assuming you mean linux as a kernel and not hurd then no. You'l be able to use it.
How? i have no idea

did any of you buy this ?

Attached: s-l1600.jpg (1600x1021, 207K)

girl, why u hide a a model identifier?

Attached: Screenshot from 2019-02-12 18-31-01.png (1132x293, 27K)

X220, sorry desu

yes, a comfy laptop

i forgot about gui
Yeah sure it should be on the settings of any big and popular distro

It hot sold yesterday
There's no way it would have arrived

Is there an LED indicator that indicates when the T440s is full charged?

RTFM

Can I swap the T440s keyboard with that of the T430? I got the 440s to replace my aging 430 but the keyboard isn't as responsive.

>hot
got

cute fumos

No you'll definitely get more than 2 hours out of a new battery. It'll be worse than a normal X230 though because it's a tablet.

Attached: IMG_20190212_182633.jpg (3968x2976, 1.77M)

no

Doesn't say

I drew an Okuu in krita after I drew this youmu in gimp. I'll post it later

Attached: Youmu fumo.png (1080x1920, 288K)

Newer Validity fingerprint scanners don't really work yet. I've recently bought an A485 and the only project trying to implement it github.com/nmikhailov/Validity90 pretty much says it (06cb:009a) isn't working at all yet, not even in a prototype fashion, last update to the project being 11 months ago. I believe this affects at least the T480 as well, and maybe a couple of others.

tfw no magnesium lids on my t420

Do you swap ctrl and fn?

Are there any good non-stock alternatives?

what do you mean

Any good link or video or advice on how to install this?
>classic keyboard on T430 btw
I was told it was just drop in, but my options are
>grind off shit, but i fear of damage
or
>take off the entire palm rest and install through there
To which I found out the palm rest is cracked on the mouse pad, go figure

Any advice?

Attached: 20190212_114532.jpg (2560x1440, 1.06M)

The default ctrl button is just belowy pinky when on homerow so there's no need to change

yes

shoo handlet

ofc not

It functions, please help me get it in lmao

Attached: 20190212_115311.jpg (2560x1440, 1.11M)

Well your two options are to either
1. sand off the nubs on the keyboard so it fits
2. makes the holes in the palmrest bigger so the nubs fit.

I'd say the first method is easier as the 2nd one carries a risk of you making the holes too big.

Here's the guide on thinkwiki.
thinkwiki.org/wiki/Install_Classic_Keyboard_on_xx30_Series_ThinkPads#The_replacement

Using caps as ctrl is much comfier

That's what I was afraid of, alright

I'll probably go with the first option as the last time I tried to take off the palmrest, it either cracked where the mousepad is or enhanced it to being broken. Thanks for the advice senpai.

just bought my 1st thinkpad
>tfw shipping takes a week ;-;

Does the x230t's 3 cell even exist? Having a battery that didn't jut out of the laptop would be nice.

yes
t. palm ctrl user

When I installed the classic keyboard on my w530, I used a pair of wirecutters to bend then snip off the nubs. It fits adequately.

Which is the better deal?

Is it worth it to upgrade my T520? I've got the low-end model, except I've upgraded the ram a little bit.
If so,
>Where can I buy a matte 1080p monitor?
>what cpu is it worth upgrading to?

Attached: 1549246581852.jpg (600x819, 205K)

I would buy the one with the SSD since you're gonna spend that much for the upgrades anyway.

Do all **20 keyboards work on the T530? What about **10 or earlier?

So when it's on one side, it does in fact warm your hand, but when it's on the other it's "no that doesn't happen silly"?

no

t. vim user

>Is it worth it to upgrade my T520?

Yes, unless you like slow performance. I upgraded my T530 a few weeks ago. Don't cheap out on the SSD, also you can find some decent CPUs on ebay.

no
t. autistic about key functions matching key labels

t. redditor as well apparently

if the vent is on the right side it's only annoying when you use a mouse and only if it's directly next to the vent, if vent is on the left side just look at the pic, the left side of the keyboard where my hand is resting most of the time is the hottest and least comfortable part of the laptop and that's unavoidable bar just getting an external keyboard, left side vents are just objectively more shit

Attached: Capture.png (242x198, 8K)

That's where the CPU is you dumb fuck

cooling system not cpu fucking retard, if the vent is on the right side then left side of the laptop stays cool and comfortable, stay retarded moron

ok well I more-or-less meant doing so as opposed to buying a cheaper used shitbox desktop.
>1600x900 screen (can't find FHD)
$50+
>quad-core i7
$200+ on amazon
>1TB +SSD (that doesn't shit itself in 4 months)
$100+
>2x8GB DDR3
~$50
>hdd caddy
negligible DESU, but another HDD would be costly
>dock
$40-60
I don't really have this kinda money

>quad-core i7
>$200+ on amazon

My guy, buy a used one on ebay.

>1TB +SSD (that doesn't shit itself in 4 months)
>$100+

Just get a Samsung 500GB one. They're $85 on amazon. You don't need 1TB.

>dock
>$40-60

You can find them used for $10 in electronic recycle stores if you have one nearby.

>check ebay
>i7-2960XM, i.e. best one that fits in the socket
>less than $150 used
Thanks for the rec broham
>you don't need 1TB
you're right, really my root partition's all I need it for, and boot if I could get uefi to work. movies and music could just as well be on an external/caddied HDD
Will check around for a dock. thanks sempai.

Your root partition really shouldn't be larger than maybe 20-30GB (assuming you're using a separate home partition)

Does anyone know of a online store that uses Affirm payments and sells think pads?

I bought an x200s and it's happily running Arch with Plasma

Attached: 2019-02-12-182938_1280x800_scrot.png (1280x800, 326K)

>i7-2960XM
Watch out. The XM has a 55W TDP, so you want the best dissipator (the two tubes one common in W520 with the 2000M quadro) unless you want housefire temps.

They work, but they won't fit unless you remove the nubs. Also replacing the palmrest will not work on t/w530s.

ye I know. I mean I could have a really small SSD for most things
thanks for the warning

I want to upgrade my T420 RAM, saw a couple of videos but I'm in doubt.
Is the RAM mounted the same in every T420?
Can I take out the RAM it already has? Didn't look like so when I opened it.

How did you find this board?

Attached: besterror.png (220x143, 5K)

>Can I take out the RAM it already has?
why couldn't you?

its not soldered

>tfw upgrading from a T420 to a FHD T440p
this nu-layout is pretty shit though
i want my media buttons back

Attached: 9f5.jpg (674x636, 331K)

Not gonna lie, I haven't touched a laptop in my life before.

How did you find this board?

I feel sorry for you

thanks you too

You can get them to work, I've done it on an X220 with Debian and Arch, but its definitely not a smooth or well integrated experience. Also, given that fingerprints really aren't the most secure, I definitely would't look or pay extra for a fingerprint reader if GNU is your plan.

That's an X220 you dumbass, gtfo if you can't identify models without seeing the model number.
