Yandex's image search is better because it is willing to disclose to the user more than Google's is willing to. Google and Yandex both crawl pages with things like images from social media and revenge porn. However, Google's image search has a filter on faces that's intended to thwart doxxing when it suspects that person is a private individual. It also applies that filter to pornography, *wink*.

Once Sundar Pichai took over, all bets were off. Couple that with YouTube's actual-factual context menus for "controversial topics", delisting "controversial videos" from the website, the ad-pocolapyse, the platform really got shit. For each successive day YouTube added to its service since its buyout by Google in 2007, each day it's been taking away since 2017 (when Trump won, and probably because they're mad Trump won). It totally nerfed its analytics data for videos because of fears it could be used for web-tracking.

Google isn't even that good on landscape photographs any more. If filtering is the only reason, why are they filtering those?

Google's strategy is and always has been to provide good services for free at the beginning. Now that they're pretty damn close to monopoly they could switch their focus on making more money.
Take the Google Maps API for example, it was the best around and free to top it off but nowadays it ramps up to being the most expensive after only 100k requests.

Because search engine stopped being Google's main activity. Their main activity is advertisement and 2nd major activity is botnet tracking phones, at this point I think they don't give two shits about the search engine and besides people will keep using google no mater how shitty it become.

"View image" was removed from image search because of a copyright tantrum, search algos have been more and more ham-handedly meddled with to prevent right-wing content or anything Google doesn't like getting to page one, Android sucks because Google hates it when you use their loss-leader ad portal OS as a real computer, and on and on and on. These problems are rooted in Google's core business model and corporate culture, and thus are not likely to get any better. They'll be dead in twenty years.

Google should be pure, uncensored, unskewed algorithmic search. Nothing more, nothing less.

For one their customer support is non existant. I was locked out of my Gmail account and had access to everything and it wouldn't allow me to verify myself even though I was signed in just so I could update my password. I finally got in because I remember my password but they have no support what so ever. Just finished erasing it and eveything from Google because fuck that if I let that happen again.

There's no profit in customer support, so they don't bother with it - unless you have enough Twitter followers and kick up a fuss, then they'll unlock your account within a day.
