Why does the EU hate the Internet so much?

Why does the EU hate the Internet so much?
Even the USA didn't want to do retarded shit like LINK TAXES

Because the glorious EU believes in the tenets of free market capitalism, which includes creative contents owner's rights - whereas the commie USA has no problems robbing those people.

Governments everywhere hate the idea of someone, somewhere, doing something that they aren't controlling.

I mean, don't you guys have to pay a "television license" for owning a goddamned TV??? Seems like people over there ENJOY being buttfucked

Some of us do, yes. And it varies as well at what point you have to start paying. Not even gonna lie, I find the Austrian system fairly shameful and wish they'd just turn it into a tax..

I was about to mock you for not being up-to-date on the subject, as it was appealed some week ago, but read up if there was a recent development and holy fuck.
Article 11 & 13 are well on their way.
How can anybody still wonder why support for the EU is dwindling ?!

>Tech companies start giving Europeans a gimped experience to avoid the costs associated with full compliance
>European Internet essentially becomes an enclave like Chinese internet.

>no more shitposting yurocucks
Can't fucking wait.

You're the one not up-to-date, the recently revised version only hurts big companies like Google who deserve it anyway.

kek OP image reminds me of the shitty bot I made for eu-ifying memes

It would be cool, when EU will turn in fucking Russia.
>no cars
>banned internet
>loisenses

Well, this shit actuall won’t help the creative people who MAKE stuff, only those who profit from these people, like Music Labels etc.

Only in some countrys, germans are buttfucked heavily btw.
We have to pay even without having a TV. We pay a few € on External Harddrives because you COULD store pirates music or movies on it. Same on Smartphones, empty CDs and DVDs etc.

This won’t affect Jow Forums at all, sorry m8. Eurofags will probably shitpost even more because we can’t here in Europe.
Jow Forums is US based, and only US based.

It hits them as hard as everyone else. Basically every Company/Website which is older than 3 years or has more than a few hundred thousand users is affected.

>Jow Forums is US based, and only US based.
makes no fucking difference. Jow Forums can be accessed in EU. let's say EU gets upset over some (c) nonsense, they could tell Jow Forums to remove it, Jow Forums could say "go fuck yourself" and they'll still try and launch legal action against Jow Forums from EU. it would lead to Jow Forums ending up banned by countries that signed onto these shitty laws. what's going to happen in the next year or so is this:

> be site owners
> not taking any risks with their sites being in the EU and targeted by profiteering retards and data protection laws
> site owners start blocking every single IP address coming out of the EU
> oh no
> EU residents start using TOR
> site owners start blocking TOR exit nodes
> websites go completely dark to EU users, and forever.

i really enjoy watching this drama. the europeans fucked themselves over so fucking hard to appease the americans and eu interest groups full of clueless and greedy fucking faggots.

>Jow Forums is US based, and only US based.
So they won't change their shit to comply with EU regulations, and just block EU-based users instead.

Until Jow Forums is blocked it will need a long time, if this ever happens. Theoretically, when this law passes the last votes (It’s not 100% through yet) and will be enforced as it is, most websites will hopefully shutdown because of this. And then... holy shit. I netter buy some food before it’s too late, because shit will hit the fan pretty fucking fast.

I really hope this happens with every fucking international site, and I hope that most international companies will shut down their buildungs, quit their employes and get the fuck out. Because then politicians are going to hang lol

They want to destoy smaller websites because those are impossible to control.

Who did you vote for?

Attached: 1529515006221.jpg (1680x1304, 146K)

>eurocucks

>be against art13 bullshit
>immediately associated with filthy commies
There's no winning here.

>because shit will hit the fan pretty fucking fast.
thankfully only for europeans that put filthy fucking faggots into a position of power. they deserve everything they get. you won't get any sympathy from me. the rest of the world is not going to comply with laws put in place by faggots. the eu is fucked, get ready for a lot of blocked sites.

Because the EU is far more foreword thinking than America

> foreword
and just as fucking illiterate too? amazing.

>be americlap
>still fall for cold war propoganda

EU is the land of taxes. You get taxed just for breathing. You get taxed every time you take a shit. That unelected bureaucracy isn't going to pay for itself, you know.

Jow Forums doesn't have to block shit. The EU countries will set up firewalls like China and block the websites. Shit, you might get something so bad in Europe that everything will have to whitelisted for access. That's how stupid Europeans are.

Euroslaves will find a way to defend this, just wait. They have permanent stockholm syndrome.

What kind of stupid fucking party names are those? Man Europe is complete dogshit.

I feel so sorry for them.

OI, YOU GOT A LOICENSE FOR THAT SHITPOSTING?

Don't worry mates, I've got a loicense.

end of march or early april. date isn't set in stone yet.
YOU'RE LUCKY THIS TIME M8, OTHERWISE I'D BE SENDING YOU OFF TO THE NICK! cheeky bastard! on your way, young user.

we'll do anything you say, mr. usa government, sir! underage? we'll change it to photos of pizza and still deny we manipulate results! pleeeeasssse just don't mess with our tax arrangements that pay you and the american public FUCK ALL PER YEAR in business taxes!

>2 images of underage drinking
I can't defend this.

I remember my first semester of college.

>end of march or early april.
Is there any chance that article 13 is just a ploy to make sure England is go and stay go?

>be England
>start panicking about Brexit after figuring out how much it's gonna fuck their economy
>start crazy talking about second referendum
>be wiser Europe
>introduce article 13 so their already shaken popularity drops to unbelievable levels making sure there's no chance England will want to go back
>March 29, Brexit
>March 30 or April 1st for maximum irony, kill article 13
>????
>profit

>intellectual """property"""

I'm an Eurofag personally, how would it affect my everyday browsing ? Could I use a VPN or shit ?

You will probably see an EU wide firewall like China.

everyone blows politics out of proportion so they can just yell about their perceived enemy and shitpost on a technology board. same thing happened with Net Neutrality, literally nothing happened.

the US government would like to but they're too busy infighting

net neutrality was always nothing
this isn't nothing

Now that's some mental gymnastics...

reminder that intellectual property is literally socialism

thats just britain dude, im sick of americans seeing some british law and going "WOW YUROP SURE IS FUKED LOL"
brits dont represent the average european

>no more shitty memes
I'm fine with this

I know the article is nicknamed "Link Tax", but people do realize it's not actually a tax, right?

Also people do realize the EU does not collect any taxes at all, rather, member states pay for the EU services they use?

Also, maerifats do realize that the EU is not a monolith, and taxes vary widely?

Sincerely,
Income tax exempt EU citizen

>Also people do realize the EU does not collect any taxes at all, rather, member states pay for the EU services they use?
That's still tax money, faggot

There is a big difference between the EU collecting taxes from a country rather than the government of the country collecting taxes and deciding to spend some of them on EU services.

It's my own government who decides the tax code, who pays what. Plus paying the EU for certain things is cheaper than my government trying to set up those things themselves.

>EU has high taxes
>Amerifats hide money in EU countries to save taxes
>Somehow this makes sense

Not "some of us do". Actually all people must. Only if you don't pay they will show up and you have to proof that you do not own ANY device that can connect to something.
Excluded are students and kids where their parents pay for the household or special people (retards).

I guess what he means is the GEMA. At least in germany, everyone pays.

By "some of us" he means that not every country has a tv license/media tax. It only exists in countries where the national tv broadcaster can't support itself on ad revenue, or the country doesn't want their national broadcaster supported solely by ad revenue so it doesn't turn into fox/cnn.

Also some countries have removed the need to even own a tv and just make everyone pay.

Yandex is unironically better than Google

>brits dont represent the average european

This. Britain is a third world shithole that we a currently in the process of excising from the EU. Whatever extremes abound in that inbred island are not typical for the rest of Europe.

>a marxist globalist organization that's all about controlling and policing the people
>hating on technology that will allow people to express and form their opinions outside of the elite control
It's a mystery to me too OP, I wonder why indeed...

Gid am I ashamed of being European. And I haven't even done anything

You need a redpill. See

OI, YOU GOT A LOICENSE FER DAT LOICENSE?

>Why does the EU hate the Internet so much?
That's why GDPR exists, right? But somehow no equivalent of it exists in the land of the free, hmmm.

>not using copyleft memes

You truly are retarded, the shadow gov. is preparing for WW3, and the biggest enemy of it is free speech and the freedom of the internet.

Brainlet

BASED KONQI POSTER

>2019
>not using machine learning to autogenerate and distribute public domain memes

nothing happened because most state governments upheld net neutrality and opposed the FCC.

Attached: nn-statewide-actionpng-e1521550464701.jpg (590x392, 35K)

most state governments are in bed with the dominant ISP of their region and never followed net neutrality to begin with
they're just now paying lip service to it so people don't notice

amerifags are so sheltered, they're oblivous to everything that happens around them, same reason after being spoiled by the eradication of disease, they decide that vaccines are the real threat.

>ENF
Now that's my kind of party

Because American companies tied to PRISM, and as such the NSA, are the backbone of the net, meaning that a foreign power has total access to all information and all devices on it through backdoors.

Um, I mean, DEY ATE AR FREEDUM

the EUSSR must be destroyed

In Britain, you don't have to have a television license to buy or own a TV.

Enjoy your upcoming porn filter britbong.

You have to pay a license if you buy a TV. And now they'll tax you if you have a PC since you can use that to access the BBC.

Quick reminder that the EU is not a country.

Greek here, the "ERT channel" tax comes in the electricity bill.

This.

I hope this passes because it will make Google and other big companies suffer and I don't care about your shitty content. Filtering does not affect small companies, it's just American propaganda.

huh?

>Filtering does not affect small companies
It does when sites have to use upload filters to make sure people aren't accidentally posting links to content that the site doesn't have a license for.
Want to link to some blog? Well the site doesn't have the rights to that blog, and since it's a blog they don't feel it's worth the time or effort required to even attempt to get the rights to post your comment, so your comment and the link to the blog are now blocked from ever being posted.
How does this help the small blogger again?

Numerous backbones are outside the US. You could argue they're under control of the US, but that's true for basically the entire globe. Even North Korea is a storm in America's teacup.

Just a warm weekly reminder that this thread is being spammed every single day by obsessed mutts

>free market capitalism
>creative contents owner's rights
A government granted monopoly is antithetical to the idea of a truly free market.

There is mention about small companies on Finnish goverment's news site but it's only in finnish: yle.fi/uutiset/3-10645573. In the same article however there is mention that some groups think it's still bad and they have same concerns as you. I understand that it might or might not make internet worse.

>Make something
>You can't copyright your product that's monopolisation and probably communism as well welcome to the free market *steals your shit*
retard

EU is not government and there is no monopoly. In fact this will restrict companies taking advantage of other people's work without paying them. You can still send links to your imaginary friends.

>for owning a goddamned TV
Nah, it's been turned into a de-facto-tax levied on any housing, since there are actually people these days that don't watch (traditional) TV and it became cumbersome to get money that way.
Even if you have no reception device, or the area you live in isn't covered, you have to pay.
I fortunately get my €17.50/month worth of programming out of it (largely radio, hardly TV), but it's garbage for the most part.

It's same thing as "road tax" or personal property tax.
If government has to maintain something, it will tax you to maintain it.

>wants the government to control what he can sell and purchase
Doesn’t sound very free to me.

Oh yes, the evil government asking you to adhere to health and safety regulations is terrible, we should abolish them!

>wants to invoke angry feelings in other people when he doesn't have any arguments.
You are funny guy.

Yes I want the government to protect my shit. That's like saying stealing cars shouldn't be illegal because the police, a government tool, shouldn't be allowed to say who gets what.

Those aren't parties

>conservatives
>liberals
it's always those corporate cock loving idiots.

Pirates. Hope they will stay around next legislature period, but they had massive problems akin to /v/ with gendershitposting, which made them implode in Germany.
They had seats in several state-level parliaments, but lost all of them.
We really need a party like them, and it's sad to see what has happened to them.
At least the Pirate parties in other EU countries are apparently doing better.

Yes, there's a distinct lack of people like him in parlaments right now

Between the low incomes, the refugee flood, the strange over regulation, and now limited internet, what is the prognosis for the EU? My country isn't a member yet, and foolishness like tjis is making me exponentially more appreciative if that fact.
