Why aren't you using it too? ME-free, free Mathematica, the only bad thing is they're not $20 instead of $35.
Posting this from my rPi which I use as a desktop!

911 was an inside job and Sandy Hook was a false flag, the moon landing never happened.
It requires blobs to boot. :-(
Not so for over 2 years.
Anyone use a pi-top? I'd like to use a rPi as my computer, but a laptop form factor would be ideal
I did for a while.
1GB RAM limit killed it for me.
Even with uBlock origin, I can only open 8 web pages at most on Chromium before it starts swapping.
Here's hoping the next iteration of rPi has at least 2GB of RAM.
They probably will since I've heard they'll do a complete redesign.
It is delayed, though.
The same can be said for any thinkpad and Mini PC.
>8 hours of battery life
I get better battery life from an old Nexus 10 screen and 12000 mAh power bank.
It might be okay for you if you just watch anime and browse the internet, it is not okay for what I use my computer for.
yeah lemme use it for my opencl + opencv projects real quick
>pretends to be a non-profit with a great mission
>is actually a DRM-cucked SBC for brainlets
Even redditors know by now: np.reddit.com
Time to move on. There's options.

I use it with Retropi. Pretty nice.
I bought an Odroid C2 before and that was one of my biggest misinvestments. Wouldn't have thought how important solid software/driver support is.
Is there 2D accel yet? I tried it but the speed of the desktop was just unbearable. Things took ages to open and the screen tearing was unreal. You also had to jump through hella hoops to get hardware video decoding working in mpv.

The interface is kind of shit. It's hard to find boards with specific characteristics if you don't already know their names.
Spoonfeed me, what's the best cheapish desktop SBC? I know you have a favorite.
Do RPI still have shitty "experimental" gpu driver ?
I tried to use my RPI as a desktop but it crashed randomly
Can it run normie stuff such as netflix ?
>It's hard to find boards with specific characteristics if you don't already know their names.
What characteristics are you looking for?
>Spoonfeed me, what's the best cheapish desktop SBC?
Again depends on your needs. If it's not armv8 and supported by archlinuxarm, don't even bother. So the list is pretty short.
archlinuxarm.org
you're full of shit, cunt.
Rock64

A no brainer: archlinuxarm.org
It will run laps around the rpi in practice, because of the RAM and the I/O (SD/MMC that doesn't suck + USB3 + actual ethernet that isn't behind USB). The SoC is simply an order of magnitude better.
The Pi is a potato.
I wanted to like it.
- Mali driver support completely fucking shit
- Not possible to have hardware accelerated video AND being able to use a browser
- Not possible to dual boot from EMMC and SD, despite the user hacks
- No wifi/bluetooth
- Emulation is worse then RSPI, except on Android. And fuck Android for a SBC. Shit usability.
I don't need a small server use because I have a real server. There is nothing I can do with it now.

Makes the pi look like a bad joke. (protip: IS ACTUALLY IS A BAD JOKE)
media.readthedocs.org
Not bad. At all.
>pay 5 for pi zero
>runs kodi 1080p
>hook it up to wifi
>BT controller
>retropie
cozy purchase
FF might give you slightly better mem usage, also ublock or any ad blocker has a decent memory footprint - look into dns based blocking for more speed
Turned mine into a all purpose wifi thing. Throw two ALFA usb wifi cards on it and maybe a large battery pack if you want to make it mobile.
Use it mostly to as a repeater around the house, but it does well for all kinds of interesting bullshit.

Sometimes you just gotta be the meme.
Does it have 2D/3D acceleration? Is it possible to run a real DE on it? A lot of SBC have shitty GPUs with no decent drivers that only work with libmali shit or opengl es at best.
maybe i could do that but i would still need a real computer for some things. could use that as some kind of thin client and do all the heavy things on my home server.
cute boy

This works pretty well for gentoo on the rpi

See
Raspberry Pi is somewhat of a modern C64, in the sense that it is a platform that has a predictable hardware setup and lots of accessories.
RPi has much better support than anything else except the Beagleboard. Everything else is one-off chink trash with half assed software support at best.

Because you need to run binary blobs to boot. Rock64 is better alternative
no thanks, id get whatever $318 gets you on the used laptop market over this
based
RK3328 uses mali 4xx, so that would be the lima drivers for open source
RK3399 uses T-864, so you want panfrost
Rockchips also posts the proprietary drivers on github if you love to gargle cum
which you probably do
When can we expect a new model? The newest one seems ok for something I have in mind but if a new one comes out in a year id rather wait
In case it drops $5 in resale value, you mean?
Plenty of no-mark alternatives ;) just read this thread
>Quad-core ARM at 1.2GHz for a workstation machine.
RPi's aren't useful for anything but library search terminals and 12yo science projects. KYS OP
Overpriced trash.
How the fuck do I buy a Ryzen Embedded mobo? I see many offerings and some sites even lists the prices but there's no "buy" button anywhere. That's the ultimate mini pc solution, and Linux support is also great as far as I know.
That's the plateau of Leng, are you dense?
