Not just Intel hardware. Clear Linux is by far the fastest distro for some reason. Why doesn't everyone else just copy whatever they're doing?

Machine-specific optimization is easy as fuck. Doing it for a broader range of devices is difficult.

Inlels fiddle with optimization flags and make benchmarks, compare them and recompile with new optimization flags. This is something you will not do.

For the sake of less barrier to entry, sure.

That's not why they are doing it. It is their research project that focuses on squeezing maximum performance out of their cpus. Intel is a hardware company, it is not redhat.

So good synchronicity with Intel stuff then.

As I fucking said, the problem is them having to make the thing work on a wide variety of machines. Slapping all your processor's additional features into a binary by letting the compiler scan cpuinfo works perfectly well for one machine.
