video games

because I need something to install gentoo on it

Yup. Thanks for asking, it was DOOM 2, which I first played on another PCs, then I played it at home, then I got some pirated CD infected with virus, noticed it creates hidden files and deleted all hidden files from the C:\ root.
Then I reinstalled Windows 98 from the DOS shell, then decided I like Me better, then XP, then "it consumes too much RAM", read the entire XPTweaker manual, learned about registry, processes, msconfig, cleared out the bloatware, then installed first expansion card with USB ports, went to a college where I finally got internet access around 2007. It only got better from there.

loli

Information superhighway hype.

I'm not interested in computers. I only spend my days on one because I have no friends or gf.

Mom got me a shitty HP desktop running XP from Walmart when I was 10 back in 2000
Ended up spending every bit of free time on it learning to make games, draw, pirate music, get shit tons of spyware, and play computer games

Take me back

Setting up computers in my catholic school back when I was in first grade. I slowly got accustomed to windows and its various features. Ended up pursuing programming after taking one java programming class in high school.

i don't have any friends

Father got me a shitty PC from a recycling center and I played around with it. Love at first sight.

needed a way to hide my loli collection from the FBI

escapism

Does she have a penis?

Age of empires
I liked it better than the playstation games

Weird 80's brazilian slangs and video games.
To be more specific, some friend of my father said he could "make atari 2600 games", and that made the tiny me go full ideas guy on him, but then i discovered it was just 80's for "i can buy atari 2600 games", but didn't lost the interest and ended getting an MSX.

boredom

>Year was 1999
>Get a computer as Christmas gift
>Could do many things on it, even play vidya
>Used computers up until this moment
>Learned C three years after that
Child curiosity for the most part

i may be a virgin but if that mess was made by a loli i would lick it clean

My board is slow so I come here to pass the time.

YellowDog Linux 6.2 on the PS3

that shit is easy to make with a stack
actually surprised this isn't on those example project graphs floating around Jow Forums

lolis

I liked programming as a kid, creating something out of nothing felt like magic (that literally was the analogy in my head)

Windows 98

I made the same thing as my first project and expanded it into a forth interpreter .

Research

OOT ignited my passion for video games which eventually led me to coding.

My dad was always into the latest technology. We would work on computers together and on the weekends we would hang out in his chemistry labs working on the various computers he had with his colleagues.
Damn I miss those days.

They had an Apple II as well, it was fun to work on.

Attached: bunny-girl-butt.png (800x707, 331K)

I couldn't even tell you my guy.
I'd like to say it was video games but I was dicking around on computers for fun before I had any PC games. They've just always been there and I've always seen them as a playground.

piracy

I naturally liked computers the first day I heard about them I wanted to work in the industry the same day, I was around 5.
I'm 24 and work in computer graphics as expected from younger me.

my dad got me into programming, but it wasn't until first year highschool that I installed linux

All those cool, more complex games, mostly adventures, I used to see on vidya magazines.

But if God made fish and grains that go into bread, isn't that the same thing as the creators just doing a huge giveaway?

God didn't create bread
copyright infringement right there

I didn't choose the computer life; it chose me.
I don't like computers, I just like everything else less.

Intuition.
I was offered some flash scripting in my school and i thought "oh cool i like computers", then talking to the computer felt so natural that i kept wanting to do it. Programming when i actually get down to it is so comfy and rewarding.

CS Humanities are interesting too. I'm like the love child of Turing and Lovelace.

Well if you ask,
I was born and raised in eastern europe. Whole my childhood I lived in a small remote village near a city. Life was good, parents took care of me, but I had serious health issues as a child so I spent few years in hospitals in city, away from children. I didn't have many friends as a kid, I was pushed back and bullied (mostly because of my dad's success, we had finished our family home back then and it was really amongst the best looking in the village, really made some envious (what I think must be the reason), there were stories that he was a war criminal, that he was in political parties and gotten wealth through felony and corruption). Anyways PC's became a big thing during that time (it was transition in the new millenium, was 2004 I think when I got my first PC) and you were a big hotshot if you had one. I remember my uncle showing me his XP machine and how fucking proud and happy he was (madman still uses XP), I remember playing unreal tournament and Midtown madness and was hooked. So my dad decided to get me a PC since I only talked about it. I waited for months impatiently as the parts were separately bought. Finally I fucking had it, the beast. It had a Intel celeron, 1 gb of ram, GPU that i do not remember and windows XP. Uncle came one day and installed UT and midtown and rest is history. Anyway my computer became my best friend throughout my whole elementary school. End

I wanted to be a 1337 h4ck3r

I actually got one of those bs "your pc is infected!!1!!11!" pop-ups when I was like 12. I didn't know what a computer virus *was,* exactly, so I googled it. The rest is history.

Dad said he knew how to program video games
he didn't know how, he just remembered "if-then-goto" from a Pascal computer class he took in HS.
so I taught myself how to make text-based adventure games in batch on our old Win98 machine.
From there the interest grew from games to more complex things.

(should've mentioned that I started when I was ~11 years old)

Video games. I was facisnated by 3D cutscenes done in real time on hardware so I decided to research this stuff and that lead me to the world of computers.

Gay pornography

I don't know. I've always been interested in them.

When I first became aware of game consoles I really wanted one, but my parents weren't super well off and wanted to get something that they thought would be useful for something beyond that, so they bought an Amiga 600 for my brother and I to share.

Naturally, I played games on it. But I also used the graphics application (Deluxe Paint 3 bitches) and fooled around in Workbench (it was always loaded into RAM, no HDD, so really difficult to fuck up) and eventually got a PC with Windows 95.

I've been pretty much glued to computers ever since. Even at my lowest points it's been something I can get my head around and use as a conduit to understand the world a bit better.

I'm 35, fyi.

Honestly fuck interacting with people, a computer is all you ever truly need. Humanity's collective knowledge and experience all in one place.

I watched the movie hackers and wanted to be a 1337 teen hacker. The rest is history.

A "security" incident made me interested in realistically securing my computer, and what is just normal using a computer because there's interesting stuff.

>get on computer
>see cute girl
>must become good at computer for more cute girl
easy

I don't remember posting this.

my dad used to build PCs and i loved watching him do that
also gaymen

We got an internet connection when I was four years old so I grew up using that shit

in 2015 i found an old gateway pentium 3 pc and turned it on, sadly it didn't boot so i took it apart and from then on started working on computers

Lol, nice edit.

this but replace it with 2hu waitu

interacting with most people feels shallow in comparison. anything i could ask them or discuss with them I could do 100x faster and with more exposure on a computer. 100 is probably a gross under-estimate

I learned everything I know about computers by necessity for the most part.
When I was a kid we just had a shared family PC and I wasn't very interested in it, but once I started playing Runescape and a few other things I started using it (my parents wouldn't buy any game consoles/handhelds). I learned more when I wanted my own computer and ended up scavenging stuff from the trash in my area and managed to cobble together a working PC from the broken ones I found. One of my dad's friends repaired computers and other electronics for a living, so he taught me what I couldn't figure out myself. Because my parents wouldn't buy me any computer stuff I had to fix any problems that arose myself, so I learned a lot of troubleshooting skills and that sort of thing. I wasn't a socialite before I got into computers and I just went from sitting inside and reading books to sitting inside and playing video games.
Programming is insanely boring and I never developed an interest in it.

>code a calculator
>he can't design an ALU for a basic calculator

growing up in israel, my parents usually weren't home, so I would just play vidya on ps2 all day. when I got to america, my parents bought me a dell latitude d420(which I still keep around for sentimental value), on which I mostly just played flash games, and minecraft when it came out. eventually I realized that you can do way more shit if you just learned to code, so I did.

vidya.
First it was doom shareware, then gba emulator.
Didn't know either at the time, just played.
Eventually goofed up and had to fix pc, then that.

Wanted to get into top college and the only thing easy enough for me to learn in 1 year was programming.

then, I fell in despair.

Do girls really do this?

>Girl
I should clear my clipboard.

im so alone. im so ugly. everyone hates me. people are so hurtful. the world is so painful, i want to die.
Oh hey, I can distract myself with shitposting/programming/gaming.

The Amiga.

I wanted to play DayZ mod and shitpost with my friends.

If you mean use computer dressed like that, then yes. Then happens.

a keyboard with a pc built in is such a comfy form factor. just hook it up to a monitor and youre good to go. they should make a modern version with wireless functionality and a clit mouse or trackball built in aswell

Looking back on it, 2011 memes weren't so bad...

Buy Thinkpad, remove screen lid, install AROS.

This.
And because I got angry at people, so that made me want to learn security & how to fuck with people online, since I was "too rational" to do it irl.
I started learning how to be a skid, but wanted to go further than that, so learned how to make my own tools & such to steal peopls computers and accounts just to fuck with their lives

Attached: 1528685891170.png (769x595, 262K)

>AROS
looks comfy but id probably go something more mainstream for compatibility

68000 is a comfy ISA.

Digital art/animation but now I play games on it instead

>giving a fuck
That's why you're such a loser.

porn
I fapped to nude models in bike catalogs until I found an image of sailor moon getting fucked on the internet.
then it all went downhill. almost 30 with 12 years of Jow Forums under my belt and the perspective is grim.
