Anyone else here still on DDR3 ram and 2nd-4th gen Intel CPU?

What is there to gain by switching other than funding the Jews?

Literally nothing, DDR4 is a meme

My A1/A2 and B1/B2 RAM banks on my Supermicro X9SRA shit the bed, so I'm down to 32GB of DDR3 ECC. Not a happy camper. So I sold the RAM in that bank on eBay for some change and got myself an E5-2680 v2 for £100. Which was nice.

What a waste

I have 24 gigs of ram in my haswell system, I'm not about to buy it all over again

I salvaged it from a PC which was simply sold as 'Dell PC' on our craigslist for €50.

I use 1066 MHz DDR3 with a 6700k.

I don't see a reason to upgrade. This machine is fast enough for what I need.

Literally nothing if not gayming. Even if gayming there's nearly no incentive to upgrade if gaming @1080p. Maybe in 3-5 years.

If you don't need to upgrade it's fine to continue using what you have.

i7-4770 with DDR3 here.
Still not seeing a NEED to upgrade, but Ryzen is appealing. Doubling my number of cores for a reasonable price would benefit some of the things I am doing but in the end it's just trading time.

If you're still on DDR3, then stay on DDR3 as DDR5 is coming next year.
E5 2680/2696 V2s are as cheap as chips even if you have to buy a Huanan X79 motherboard to go with it, it'll use your current DDR3 or you can pick up 64GB of Samsung DDR3 1866 ECC for less than 200 bux.

X79 Xeons are still surprisingly capable chips that give the R7 2700/2700x for the money. If you live somewhere other than the US where AMD is being as much of a fucking jew as Intel on prices.

Yes. I expect my PC to last another 6 years, but I'll probably switch to Ryzen and sell this because using (((Intel))) feels disgusting.

It's only worth upgrading if you know you need it. Went from a i5 to pic related. I work with music production and some of the software synthesizers I had would just lock up my i5, stuttering everywhere. Now I can have around 15 bazilles open with no problem. Really changed everything for me.

Yup.

i5-4570 with DDR3. Built it in 2013. Feel like components are too expensive atm

t. corelet

>muh cores
do you also have an android phone?

I7-3770 with 16gb DDR3 here

Yeah. Bought SSD and GPU new, and am still only $300 into the machine, not including monitors.

Not that user, but I'm pretty sure I have more cores available than you do...

i have 0 reason to """upgrade""" right now or for the next three years unless something breaks down
maybe the gpu could do well with an upgrade but i dont gaymen anymore apart from the occasional eroge and visual novels
