RIP current hackintosh users. But maybe you'll be able to hackintosh cheap chromebooks if they're going to use ARM.

What a time to be alive

Big difference: with Applel you won't have a choice.
Even "workstations" will be ARM.

People won't notice any difference in performance due to the thermal throttling of their current "workstations"

getting rid of intel processors is a big win satania

>locked down proprietary ARMshit
>big win

>incompatible locked piece of shit
>ШIN
No

Moderate win

Apple moved from PowerPC to Intel with no issues. They can do the same thing again.

>tfw this is why they're actually doing it

>apple saves a few bucks by switching to some shit porcessor
>"haha Intel on suicide watch amirite"

cope

they are already on arm tho

I wonder if this means raspberry pi will support macOS now

Wow the 2017 with function keys really is the last half decent macbook

The problem with this is that now all of the other OEMs who try to copy apple will make locked down ARMshit with no performance or key travel. The problem isn’t apple, it’s that other companies think copying apple is a good idea.

The mid 2012 was the best macbook. Last of the removable memory and hard drive

Let's see if Adobe ports their entire catalogue to ARM or if they'll just give iToddlers the big fat stinky.

How is this a bad thing? Intel can't keep-up with Apple's own processors. Pretty pathetic.

It has to be compiled for MacOS anyways and most of the changes are OS calls. It's a no brainer.

>Intel is now inferior to Apple's ARM shit
delid this kind sir

>Intel can't keep-up with Apple's own processors
NOOOOO

Photoshop CC is coming to iPad in its entirety pretty soon, so it’ll be on ARM anyway. Additionally, you know Adobe has traditionally been an Apple-first company, right? PS originally was released on a Moto 68K Mac. Then it was ported to PPC, then PPC64, then Intel... they’ll do it again for ARM.

>is now inferior
(lol

More like Apple can't afford Intel

>It's a no brainer.
So is building a 64-bit executable. Doesn't mean it won't take them 10 years.

2015. Last one designed by jobs.

>Adobe has traditionally been an Apple-first company

Traditionally, but they have been Windows-first for many years now.
Adobe software runs like ass on OSX.

Also, CC is a lot more than Photoshop.
They have tablet versions for Lightroom too, but they are watered down a lot and really just an on-the-go add-on to doing your serious work on a real computer.

so now their laptops and desktops also won't play webms?

Attached: itoddlers btfo.webm (720x404, 2.97M)

it's a damn shame that these are ~$500 aftermarket. I'm trying to upgrade from my 2011 MBP but finding it hard to justify a 2015 MBP at this price..

Having used both (I just recently built a desktop and sold my MacBook Pro because Muh Games), I can tell you that they are roughly equal in performance. I searched for actual data on this, but it’s either over half a decade old or just doesn’t exist. I hate anecdotes.

I concur user. My pc and MBP handle Photoshop the same and generally I'm surprised how smooth it runs on the MBP

BASED

Apple could easily acquire Intel.

>mad as hell I bought an 18' just before they announced the redesign
>next model is arm shit

Feels good

How is this a bad thing? Like even Linux runs on ARM now.

>even Linux
>even
... as opposed to what other operating system?

iToddlers trying to cope with the fact that Applel is slowly turning into c-grade chinkshit designed to funnel cash from people who will indefinitely and without question buy Apple products out of loyalty

I didn't think Jow Forums would shill for Intel this hard.

Attached: drgerg.png (1300x2000, 307K)

Well actually most of the major OS can run on ARM. Even Winblows can too now...actually I don't see the issue at all.

This, 2012 is the Thinkpad of MacBooks

>let's all pretend that Intel is going bankrupt because Apple decided to drop them from one line of laptops, unless you're a fucking SHILL

x1 extreme is the 2012 macbook of Thinkpads

Attached: lenovo-thinkpad-x1-extreme-1.jpg (1600x1200, 281K)

That is just a black macbook air

Lenovo put the nail in the coffin for thinkpads with that shitty half ass anniversary edition

say that to my face not online see what happens. x1 extreme is my laptopfu.

You can enjoy it all you want and I'm sure it's a nice laptop. It's not a thinkpad though, thinkpads are dead.
There's nothing wrong with being compared with the macs, they're nice high end machines.

>ARM based CPU
I can't stop laughing at this. You fagots will eat anything that steve job's rotting corpse spits out.

Attached: Alfred Hitchcock laughs at your supposed homosexuality.jpg (367x451, 19K)

it's enough to watch gay porn, so nobody will be able to tell the difference

Lets remove all ports and make it charge wirelessly. Make everything else connect over BT5.

You guys know that this is the beginning of the end for PC overall?

Coreteks predicted this. GPUs will be gone. Intel will be gone from the consumer market. AMD will be gone from the consumer market (maybe they can keep relevant for a while with embedded GPUs, but not for long). ARM will be the new monopoly simply because they patented the core architecture and their license prices will rise to new heights because no competition will be possible.

what would even be the point in an application where size and power consumption are almost irrelevant such as the home pc?

also as long as there is a prosumer and enthusiast market I doubt real cpus and dgpus will go away

Wow, it's finally happening.
I remember it being a projected concern 4 years ago when I worked for Intel.
I guess it's time.

I hear this statement all the time, what exactly is it that makes the newer thinkpads lesser thinkpads?
all the arguments I've ever heard seem to be "I kinda preferred the older keyboards", "I kinda wish the CPU wasn't soldered" or basically just "soul vs soulless" memes

based Apple

it's a meme created by neckbeards so they can tell themselves (and others) they buy ancient laptops not because they are poor, but because the older ones are actually better than the new ones.

>tfw its an AMD custom chip.

the amount of cope would be hilarious

Isn't Windows moving to ARM too? If anything, the only one getting BTFO here is Intel for being a bunch of lazy fucks

>tfw its an arm apple cpu + x86 amd coprocessor

ARM architecture is in reality just as powerful as AMD64 with lower power consumption. ARM also seems to be cheaper in production from what I remember. The only blockade is backwards-compatibility.

ARM just seems to be a superior architecture overall and the problem that arises from that is that it is owned by a single company.

For GPUs it is the same. The reason for Real time raytracing is to keep dgpus relevant, but it is currently failing hard. AMD itself will soon release an embedded GPU with the power of a 1660 Ti at half the cost.

We are entering the dark ages man.

>yfw its bottlenecked as fuck so the battery can last more

>corekeks
Quality b8

Nice argument m8

Macfags will defend this

Intel will bitch about x86 emulation though

>arm is the future
On tablets and smartphones.

They can try, but software emulation doesn't violate any patents

They keyboard layout on older thinkpads are just way better.

thinkpads are made to be durable/upgradable and have gotten less so over time, when you cant even change the ram of the laptop, the entire point of the line is missing therefore its safe to say that these newer laptops arent 'real' thinkpads
check out the thank you thinkpad ad line, also look at some repair guides and durability tests

>, it’s that other companies think copying apple is a good idea
It is reasonable tho. Apple has a good intuition on figuring out what normies want. Either that, or it is extremely good at telling normies what to want. So other companies give normies what they crave, after all, they're the majority of the population.
I think real computers will become a niche thing, can't wait for a company to just go "fuck it" and introduce a line for professional, thicc products with 'uge removable batteries, no 15 cameras memes and meme unlocks, just shitload of ports.

Microsoft wanted to emulate for their windows ARM stuff a few years back but got told to back off by intel. It wasn't even x64 and they got pissy.

Tell me more

When the fuck did Microsoft become spineless? Also, Apple is a bully, they aren't going to give up easily if Intel wants to fight

I remember when apple introduced that port-less drive-less wonder that fit inside a Manila envelope, then a thinkpad was released that also fit inside one with all the typical ports and even a disc drive. Apple sure got told that day

Applel's toyOS can barely run on ARM, how the hell is bloated MacOS going to work? Are people really going to buy $4000 laptops that perform like this?

Attached: lag.webm (1280x546, 2.76M)

Windows for ARM does emulate x86 though.

>Are people really going to buy $4000 laptops that perform like this?
Guess

Two JUSTed corporations fighting it out, now that would be amusing to watch.

Attached: 1418023614239.gif (352x288, 182K)

It's about fucking time. Intel was a mistake to begin with.

If we're lucky they'll both wither and die under a shitton of attorney fees

this cherry picking is delicious

>still heats up to 100°C

Attached: 1535873881895.jpg (472x472, 12K)

>AMD will soon release an integrated gpu with the power of a 1660 Ti

lol

If they do, will you transfer me a a BTC?

no because I don't have any

>my 2018 fagbook is too heavy for my Onions diet arms, so I can't wait for lighter fagbooks!!!

Attached: appleenthusiast.gif (180x180, 454K)

It sets a precedent that computing in the next 10 years is basically going to be taken over by giant locked down proprietary smartphones in desktop cases and retards will welcome it because they'll pay $50 less on their next video game console build.

you gotta hand it to apple. they're gonna sell fucking cellphones in a laptop form factor for 3k+ and get away with it.

Attached: yum.png (411x156, 8K)

there's no desktop ARM chip worth a shit, they're all weak corespam that look good on benchmarks and suck for everything else
