Perfect technology

Technology that has been engineered to the utmost levels of practicality, quality, and reliability. Technology that has no reason to exist in any other form.

Zippos still have a use, but Bic is peak EDC.

>non-refillable, non-windproof lighter
>perfect, or even reliable

3.5mm audio jack

Does anyone else do the lighter hack?

The mirror

these things also make really good blunt weapons if someone tries to jack you

Why BIC?

Didn't a guy in Sarajevo say as much? Lighters and disinfectant were like cold.

something from thiscatdoesnotexist.com probably.

marlboro or other similar cigarette packaging
theyre really solid for being paper structures

Anybody that's ever had to exist outside of 1st world, 9-5 M-F conditions says this.

Worse than the thing it's intended to replace.

yeah dude. totally "perfect".

>lighters irritate my skin

Asplain hax

Everything man-made has room for improvements, due to two main factors.
>Technology potential is limitless
>human needs are endless

But if you are talking about engineering basic designs, some of them date way back, and the only thing that has improved over the years, are the choice of the materials...

Bic lighters are the apple products of lighters.
>Disposable
>non-repairable
>no effort required to use or obtain
>just werks but mediocre at best
>childrens toy
Zippos are the thinkpad running a based gnu/linux distro
>Durable
>Quality construction
>Serviceable
>Upgradeable
>Parts easy enough to find
>Used by the discerning white man

Zippos are ALWAYS out of fuel
Fucking terrible

>can't maintain his personal belongings

this

Ah shit, thanks. Fuck me that's useful.

piezo > flint

Are USB lighters a meme?

piezo > flint >>>>>>>>>>>>>> battery

these are the only objective answers

pic related
when i thought that f91w is absolutely perfect i got this. it literally improved on perfection. so i guess is somewhat correct.
both jack and plug degrade quickly if you're not careful, though.

Attached: F105W-1A.png (500x529, 76K)

These and Djeeps are the stoner go-tos. The clippers even have a little bowl tamper where the flint pulls out.
Disposability = planned obsolescence = not a good thing
OP started a thread with "perfect technology" and then immediately gets one-upped by better technology, l o l

absolutely based

In my country they don't even have that safety.

The only thing that can be improved is torque and battery life in cold weather (which both keep getting better constantly). Modern impact drivers are versatile, powerful, light and durable. Impacts today are also cheap compared to other tools

Attached: milwaukee-2767-20-1.jpg (1200x1200, 175K)

how the hell are you supposed to open beer bottles with a round lighter

I hate how zippos just smell like fucking gas all the time.

>no effort required to use or obtain
How is this a bad thing?

I got another.

>thinkpad running a based gnu/linux distro
ah, the india of computing

>Not the 6502
For shame

how is this even a hack, aren't they freaking made to come off?

retards

Attached: 1548267949328.jpg (528x444, 36K)

it can be incredibly easily picked open

The 555 is absolutely legendary. You can still find them, dip packaged, in modern equipment.

it functions more as a deterrent.

this. clipper a best

>literally hundreds, if not thousands of copycat versions
>all of them inferior since they can't copy the exact dimensions of the vise grip

Attached: 51Ny3Uc3KlL._SL500_AC_SS350_.jpg (350x350, 17K)

A cute kitty

Zippos smell like fluid because they literally evaporate fluid. Fill your Zippo, sit it on a shelf unused for two weeks, then try to use it.

Any variation of the knife.

Also the wheel

Attached: knife.jpg (1600x800, 89K)

this one is better imo

>breaks and renders your expensive pair of headphones useless
>finicky and hard to fix properly
Based retard

>flimsy for high intensity use like plugging and unplugging a lot, hence why all professional equipment uses quarter inch
>connected devices are technically shorted purely to save a few cents on a fourth wire

> hurr no one can ever imitate locking pliers because dimensions are wrong
This was a good idea - but no, just about everyone who cared did imitate this tool just fine.

>jack itself breaking
In what universe has this ever happened.

Smart lights are a fucking meme. Can’t beat a physical switch.

>Hey dude, is that the new metal clipper?
>Hell yeah dawg - have you got the blunt wraps I gave you?
>Shit man, here you go. You gonna roll some fire?
>Hell yeah man

> torque
1000Nm by now. When did you need more?

Attached: Makita-DTW1002Z-18V-High-Torque-Brushless-Impact-Wrench.jpg (648x648, 43K)

Wouldn't this much torque spin the person holding the driver sooner than a stuck bolt?

no, impact tools only exert the """"advertised" force for a short period of time.

The headphone jack connector is always the first thing that fails on a pair of headphones. In what universe do you live ? Never had one driver die because a finicky headphone jack wire got dislodged ?

If it was constant. But it's more like a series of hammer blows. Which works fine.

Example here:
youtube.com/watch?v=l4wI8wdSVpo

Vibration is an obvious thing, though. I'm not sure much more powerful tools will be practical to work with handheld anyhow.

The wire itself breaks. When they put that protective shit near the end it simply breaks where the protection ends instead. Not exclusive to 3.5 at all.

The Zippo form factor is nice, but spark ignition isn't necessary.

Attached: 31I1BGqje9L.jpg (331x500, 14K)

When I was serving my time as a conscript we were required to carry a lighter at all times. The gubmint gave us a box of matches and a minigrip bag. That lasted for a week.
So in one pocket I carried a Zippo because I liked it and in another I carried a BIC lighter because the Zippo was always out of fuel.

never come across one that wasn't garbage. but either way, it can't be improved

oh snap!

The fuck would you post the shitty jet insert when the same company makes a soft flame insert that lets you have all the style of the zippo without the evaporation?

Attached: $_35.jpg (300x300, 11K)

>England doesn't sell them
Fuck this country.

>style
Not the point, fag.

>breaks
Stop buying garbage.
>and renders your expensive pair of headphones useless
Having to replace some cheap wire beats having to replace a dead battery in wireless garbage and my M50x has a detachable wire anyway.

>connected devices are technically shorted purely to save a few cents on a fourth wire
Literally kill yourself.

this. Zippos are a bad design -- clipper is the thinking man's lighter

guess it depends on preference but for me there's too much stuff on the screen. notice how time takes up only 1/3 of screen space? not the case on f105w. well, as long as it functions without any issues it shouldn't matter.

this 2bh. screw threads are obviously variable. I’d also suggest the catenary

intmath.com/blog/mathematics/is-the-gateway-arch-a-parabola-4306

One nice feature is them turning on full brightness the same time my alarm goes off
I've never slept through an alarm with them

>never been with stoners irl

I'm just making a joke user. It sucks that my job prevents me from smoking the haze as I did during uni.

Use these at work, absolutely based.

There are loads of cheaper / more precise / more efficient timer chips, just not necessarily better enough to justify changing an old design.

Like a NE5532 op-amp or LM78xx family regulator would be examples of analog tech that's actually done. You can make a different circuit design to take advantage of chips with less forgiving tolerances, but for the niche they operate in, there's still nothing better.

is this so the passenger can steer?

How do you recognize a zippo user? Smells like gasoline and asks for light.

Attached: 1458756017806.jpg (968x720, 179K)

>Zippo
>style
Everyone thinks that Zippo users are tryhards lmao.

>so simple in operation and form that even peasants can use and maintain it
>virtually unchanged since antiquity
>can be used in small scale as well as large scale

Attached: file.png (300x214, 84K)

old school

Attached: plumbBob.jpg (570x427, 25K)

also this

Attached: level.jpg (3336x684, 550K)

Doesn't that style of pump waste a lot of power?

This and having a remote to turn the lights off from your bed.
And having the lights turn on automatically when you come home.

thinkpads don't quickly lose their charge when unused

what the fuck is wrong with the upper center bubble.
