Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered high end back in the 1960s and 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt. They were purchased by a Chinese company for just a million dollars who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players, they shill heavily on HeadFi and here on /hpg/, plus they pay Zeos to shill their crap just like Fostex does.

>In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax

Oratory has measured the highest end STAX, the SR-009S.

dropbox.com/s/61srehjyaltd7w0/Stax SR-009S.pdf?dl=0

dropbox.com/s/dm0m6u3s3b4zqzl/Sennheiser HD600.pdf?dl=0

It's worse than the HD600. HD600 scored 92 and SR-009S scored 76.

Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.

Even best Stax headphones sound objectively worse than mid-fi. This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure. In reality its no bass sounding garbage, with shrill highs that appeal only to near-deaf boomers. And what they say is true, they have no soundstage.

To add insult to overpriced injury, they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones:

Yeah it's totally comparable to what you glue sniffing FOTM whores on a chink payroll have been doing post Feb 2018. Since that time we haven't seen even one day of /hpg/ without stax spam.

>already backtracking because you had to admit you were wrong
oh that's sad. but you'll get there. I know it's hard being retarded.

backtracking on what? you literally didn't exist on the threads. We went from 0 to a maximum of two CTR+F stax hits to an average of 60 hits per threads.
I know it's hard to have no hobby other than spamming chink headphones.

And I might be too generous with 60 avg. Two of the more recent threads are more like 100 hits.
I'm not bored enough to keep collecting stats further, I know what I remember and what I remember is that you were not a thing before 2018.

good afternoon earspeaker general

should I get hifiman sundara, something from the sennheiser 600 series or something else?

Anyone that isn't too poor for STAX confirm this?

>they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones
Wrong. Cheap chinkshit headphones generally have vastly superior build quality to Stax.
They're trying to appeal to the old-good new-bad retro hipster crowd by unearthing ancient designs from when polymers were in the diapers and no one knew how to use them in anything.

You are right. I am sorry to the chinks. Even the cheap chink shit doesn't instantly snap while putting on your head.

about to fall for noise cancellation meme.
I want out of office noise
Convince me otherwise

Dt990 pro for $130AUD. Shpuld I go for it? Is the extra $70 worth it for 2yrs warranty?

It's like you've never even seen much less held a 007mk1

don't get a cheap one

desu i wanna make metal stax headbands.
it would be very easy to make one, and it would remove so many issues with the creaking plastic.

is $250 ~ $300 cheap in this context?

Once you’ve perfected the process make an Etsy and make bank off of shitty hipsters

ANC is not magic, and only Sony and Bose make worthwhile ones, the other ANC headphones aren't good enough to be much better than headphones with good passive isolation like the 280 Pro.
ANC attenuates enough noises that you won't notice the outside world while listening to music, but if you think you can use them without music you will be disappointed. The noise attenuation will lower the intensity of sound enough to mask the noise with music, but not enough to give you silence without music.
Earmuffs like the various peltor do a better job at isolating you from office noise if you don't listen to music all the time.

Audio technica mx40 or mx50, are they good?

yes

Buy speakers reeeeeeee

does anybody have that guide user made about making earmuffs with headphones inside them

what stax should I buy?

>007
muddy veiled garbage

one with bass, in other words: none

Out of your recomendation I think I'll investigate the Sony WH100XM3 further since it also comes with a wired jack.
So far I just listen to various sound, like those 10h rain sound from youtube.
I think I'll avoid the earmuffs because I'm already awkward and I don't want to break social conventions and appear any weirder.

Nice meme

I want only your strongest headphones

Based and objectivepilled.

Attached: staxloli.png (871x883, 887K)

question, is there a "right" way to wear over ear headphones? i have a pair of dt990 and there is a lot of room for positioning them on my head, from front to back

God they even look dumb

The 007s are built nice, but sound worse than the L700s which are built like trash
Why can't stay just make the l700s out of nice plastic or metal? And keep their sound quality

wanna know this too

who are all of the Stax online selles in the USA? Staxaudio.com
Headamp.com
Elusivedisc.com

Who else?

Never gotten a reply in these threads for this question, would it help if i called them stax?
Hows the stax mx40 or stax mx50, are they decent, hows the passive noise isolation on them?
Recommend any good passive noise cancellation with good sound quality?
Coming from dr staxxes beats studio 1, they had good bass and good passive noise cancellation, im looking for a stax headset that will be comparable or better, some better highs with out sacrificing too much bass would be good, and not cost a liver or 2
Know any stax headphones like that?

staxheadphones.com is the official store

Im considering grabbing a pair of these, how do they hold up? How long have you had them? I’m and wanna know your opinions on build quality and such.

Yes, No and No. Already done

I can't be arsed to argue about these youtuber pushed shitphones anymore so here have a pic showing some lovin' done to them.

Attached: athporn.jpg (922x2052, 553K)

Dont watch youtubers for this shit, they will tell you to buy what ever their sponsor tells them too

only had them for a month. build quality is pretty good but i've only had cheap ones before so your mileage might vary.
if you have a big head like me they will really clamp down like a vice though. i had to stretch them out with books for a few nights.
they do sound pretty sibilant though, just like people say.

also you -might- need an amp for the 250 ohm version.

So your saying 007 sounds better and are built better than L700 but L700 isnt built like trash to start with?

I aim to only use them for my computer with vidya, and my mobo has an integrated sound card rated up to 600ohms so I think I’m good. I think I might get the ones on eBay, $60 is a nice little saving

which Stax do you own?

yeah i think these are great for vidya.

Reposting asking for halp on a new DAC.

My old one is dying, budget around 100 usd.
Ideally with optical in as well.

No Topping or Schiit products, already owned those and they broke.

Attached: 56532266543.png (400x400, 14K)

No help to be found here

Buy an usb interface like the scarlet. Audio gear aimed at actually productive use. Those things are more well built and meant for durability than the niche consumer products made to exploit audiofools.

jdslabs ol dac is 100 or 140 with optical

Sad if true

So what isnt a shitphone, you literally ignored the rest of the post

Ah interesting, I forgot about Scarlett. Heard decent things, but don't know if their cheaper ones have optical though?

This looks nice, thanks. Definitely on my watch list now.

>DX3 pro just entered standby mode on its own

Attached: 1546095274612.jpg (400x580, 74K)

Damn, more research and both options are out. Scarlett doesn't really do optical (makes sense as well, that's a more hi-fi thing rather than pro audio). JDS with shipping to EU costs nearly 170 usd...

Attached: 4183.png (284x379, 209K)

almost done building my tube amp aaaaand Schiit forgets to put in the bill of materials that I need three 10uF capacitors, not two. I'm missing just that one cap
now I have to drive down to get an old ceramic disc one because nobody sells SMD ones near me and I'd have to wait two months for some chink on eBay to ship it to me thanks a lot

009

a while back there was a meme about how the top of the line stax 009 and the t8000 was $11,000 and there was an image user made about choosing between the headphones and a car.

I ended up posting that to /o/ even though I had never been before and the thread there was pretty hilarious. I ended up staying on /o/ afterwards and the board got me into cars. I finally got my license and bought my first car in december.

I guess what I'm saying is stax drastically improved my life.

My L300 has some spot at about 7.5kHz where left channel goes very silent compared to the right. Is this a seal issue or are such imbalances normal?

yes. try L700 pads or vesper pads

I'm using the tape mod. Don't really want to spend that much for pads right now so I guess I'll stick with it. It's not noticeable outside of frequency sweeps anyways.

Might be your ears.

try redoing the mod on the side that has a dip, I doubt it's a coupler seal issue if it's only one ear
