Hey Jow Forums, my little sister is suffering from depression and I want to gift her something to cheer her up, it just occurred to me that she would love a drawing tablet, but I know nothing about them, could you help me?
So far I saw three that got my attention, a Huion H420 that has 2048 pressure levels and goes for as low as 30 bucks, a Wacom Intuos that everyone recommends to me but has worse rating and fewer pressure levels for about 80 bucks and finally a Wacom Intuos Art that goes for 200 bucks but only has 1024 pressure levels, what's the deal? Why does it cost 170 extra bucks if it has half the features?
Money is not an issue, but I want to know what should I look for and why the big price difference
gift her your undying love and marry her instead huion h420 is probably good though if your a virgin
Samuel Jenkins
You can give her an orgasm
William Smith
I'd probably get her whichever Intuos fits into your budget. I believe all of them have more than 1024 pressure levels, so I'm not sure where you got that from.
Hope your sister does well and enjoys her gift!
Carter Ross
I have the H420 its fuckin shit
Liam Collins
difference in pressure level number isn't even discernible, quality of pressure sensitivity is more of a concern than that number having half the number of pressure levels isn't like having half the features. it's barely a concern if it's no lower than 1024 there are actual features, like pen rotation or something
Jason Davis
>my little sister is suffering from depression and I want to gift her something to cheer her up why don't you give her something that will encourage her to leave the house? you're just going to turn her into a shut-in who draws furry porn
Jonathan Cox
I got it from some website, the amazon listing doesn't say how many pressure levels it has at all, thank you! Then I won't buy it, thanks user I shall buy the Intuos Art then? It has really good reviews
What would you recommend then? She's quite young so I don't think that would be an issue, we do go out pretty often and I constantly encourage her to make friends and be happy, I just want to give her some way to express herself and be less dependant on me
Wyatt Smith
How old is she?
Nicholas Bell
i don't think low tier wacoms are meaningfully different in any way except size rather get a bluetooth model than an art one and isn't intuos art line discontinued
Easton Harris
So what do you think that makes someone whos depressed want to leave the house, that you can just buy?
Apart from LSD
Owen King
Oh, you are right, I just noticed the listing has an old model warning, what would you recommend then? She is twelve
Anthony Jenkins
don't get the huion it's pure trash. pen is fat and heavy as fuck, doesn't draw well and will probably break in a year or so. always shell out the shekels for Wacom, fuck the pressure levels they don't really mean shit
intuos s bt. this line doesn't support their bt kit, so if you don't get wireless, you never get it. previous gens support it though, and it's actually not deprecated yet, fucking pro tablets still need one. you could go for a small intuos pro, which actually has features like tilt and touch (basically touchpad functionality, actually convenient). but those features, while convenient, it might be better to get a more expensive one later if they're felt needed and worth it. also >12 lmao why pro tablet now but hey, could be nice
Carter Sanchez
> why the big price difference I bet it's about drivers.
Luke Rodriguez
good that you give her a drawing tablet, better will be to go with her in the nature to stroll around in parks between trees and rivers and meadows. make some activites with her, give her a nice book like D. Suarez "Influx" or Hararis "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" e.g.
I got a huion h430p and got no complaints, price difference is negligible from h420 and pen is actually battery free and light, nothing like the other trash user was talking about
Camden Russell
Thanks, I'll take a look, I'm not really a fan of Bluetooth tho, it's been quite unreliable to me in the past, I'm still a fan or wired technology, yet, if it's good then I might get it. About the pro thing, well, I don't mind buying another more advance tablet for her in the future, I'll like her to test the waters first. Thanks, we do go out pretty often, to parks, malls and even just to walk for a bit, she's not quite into reading, but I'll try those suggestions plus the tablet, I think the more options the better
Parker Smith
Yes, the continuous unceremonious contact to nice, friendly people is probably the most important!
Thomas Phillips
is she into drawing and shit? I'm not very sure, but in my case this hasn't worked and my tablet is rotting away inside my closet because of how hard it is to get used to it when you're starting, maybe you should consider something she likes doing or is interested in learning, like musical instruments and whatnot just trying to help your sad imouto
Cameron White
She is into drawing and was curious about drawing in a computer, I'm sure she will use it, at least to draw something for me as she usually does, as long as she has fun I'm fine with that, thanks for the concern, she doesn't really seem interested in music, making music at least, but I will ask her
Luis Bennett
there's no other option for wireless than bt really. don't skimp on that, just get it. sure, it'll end up being plugged in and out the same amount because it needs to be charged, but not having the cable run below your arm is great
Chase Nelson
Just get the smallest wired Intuos. Even better would be a thinkpad Tablet. Godspeed to you and to your eromanga-sensei user.
Grayson Watson
Thank you everyone for your input, I'll be getting some sleep now as I barely got any, I have decided to look for a Wacom modern tablet, not pro but one of the expensive ones, and maybe I'll just ask her directly which one she would like and if she would like one. Feel free to leave any suggestions, I'm make sure to read all your posts later.
That one with the higher sensitivity is because it's a newer model but 1024 is all you really need. Wacom is pretty overpriced at times but you can expect quality build and drivers from it. The Huion tablet you mentioned seems a bit too small I'd recommend going a size up if you're planning on spending more. I hear mostly good things about Huion but Windows 10 updates tends to fuck the drivers up so it's kinda hard to recommend.
Jacob Green
>$0.55 has been added to your banggood.com account
Joshua Rogers
Small sized drawing tablets are a pain in the ass to draw on, once you remove the space taken up by the interface you're left with half a postcard of actual drawing area.
Wyatt Mitchell
Huion and Xp-Pen are unironically better than budget Wacom offerings.
You chose tablets like this >Are you willing to spend 350$ >If yes - Intuos Pro >If not Huion or Xp-Pen.
But make sure to get one with a USB-C connector. Chinese mini/micro usb ports are prone to sudden death. Chinese USB-C are just fine.
I personally use an XP-Pen Deco 01 and it's very fucking good for what it is. I heard Huion added some extra features like tilt lately but i'm not motivated to upgrade.
Carson Price
>So what do you think that makes someone whos depressed want to leave the house, that you can just buy?
Prozak unironically made me join the local gym.

wacom just has a stranglehold on the industry, in part due to their battery-less stylus patents
Lincoln Gomez
Patent expired.
Honestly Wacom will go under in no time because they don't have an edge over competition now.

Nice trips and dubs now go back to being fucked in the ass for your money retard.
William Phillips
No more/reduce eating refined carbs or added sugars + mewing, stomach vacuum and kegel exercises + lots of walking with zero heel drop shoes + knuckle push ups (nicer on wrists) and inverted towel rows + tendon strengthening with resistance bands. Don't over exercise, if body is sore then rest until it's gone. Read into Toxoplasma gondii and depression. Don't encourage taking anti-depressives. Consider getting the Intuos 3. It's got a smooth drawing surface unlike modern tablets and it's incredibly tough.
>I want to gift her something I want to give her something
Adrian Powell
give her a rope
Nicholas Jackson
>my little sister is suffering from depression Have you perhaps tried talking to her/listening to what she has to say? Do you honestly think she would even use your gift since she is in a bad mental state.
Xavier Adams
Yes, she's real talkative with me but isn't with our parents or friends, I think a hobby would help her greatly
Carson Green
>I think a hobby would help her greatly They way you worded seems like you picked out a hobby for her or is drawing something she enjoys doing on her own accord?
William Cruz
Just my advice here. Get her a bike and get yourself one (if you don´t have on) and go for a ride with her. Doing something outdoors sounds like a better way to deal with depression instead of just sitting in her room and draw stuff.
Austin Parker
I've only used the cintiq and huion but the wacom cintiq seems to have a more natural pressure response so I prefer it by far. Not sure how the cheaper wacom's are but I assume they'll feel more natural too
Matthew Diaz
>12 years old >being depressed
Are all Americans this pathetic? 12 year old African children aren't even depressed. They are fighting to survive. Why is it that Ameriburgers create their own problems when none actually exist?
Nathan Russell
I'd be depressed if I was an American kid forced to do common core, drilling for school shooters, tranny acceptance classes.
Tyler Edwards
Broken families, half of marriages now end in divorce even before kids finish high school. If that doesn't get them then parents being alcoholics/druggies and/or being abused by them will.
Sadly these same kids tend to repeat what their parents did to them by the whole "do unto others as what has been done to me" kind of mindset is drilled into them.
Jaxon Martinez
Yup, she loves drawing in paper, almost every day draws something and recently I gave her a laptop which she enjoys, a drawing tablet would be the next step As I said before, we do go out often, and she does have a bike, I would like her to have another activity she enjoys while at home She has her reasons that I won't share, I also can't help the african children directly, I can help my sister thought
James Young
Don't be ashamed about preferring to help your own sister, everyone has self-interest user.
Ryder Sanchez
give her dick
Adrian Martinez
Why she depressed at such a young age?
Nolan Davis
to all shits shitting "just go outside bro lmao", no fucking shit OP already said he does go outside and participate in activities with her and stuff, and no need to repeat the same thing over and over you can't just fucking live outside, and the girl is into drawing, she will appreciate the gift
Adam Brown
Literally everyone's depressed @OP grab her a copy of pokemon let's go eevee and call it a day
Josiah Gutierrez
I got a Lenovo yoga book for school. It comes with a built in Wacom digitizer. It comes in Windows and Android. it's more expensive than a digitizer but I recommend it.
Landon Garcia
Good luck user. Hope it works out.
Kayden Diaz
unfortunately there's no minimum age for that, or something similar I've never had any friends until 7th grade and I was always the shortest, weakest, most ugly of my friends or my class and always felt like shit I still do nowadays, not much has changed, but I learned to deal with it myself since no one gave a flying shit during my childhood (I wish I had a brother like OP), although I never actually complained about depression or even knew it was a thing back then, but even now I wouldn't classify it as depression, it's more like insecurity or some shit
Angel Reyes
Interesting, she already has a computer tho, I gave her one for Christmas, perhaps it's too soon to give her another one but I'll consider it She got bored of it pretty quicky
Jonathan Ward
>She has her reasons that I won't share This is an anonymous Goan pipe fitting forum, you may tell us, we don't know her.
Julian Cooper
I got an Huion H640P for $60 canada bucks last year and i'm glad I went with this one instead of a shitty cheap wacom tablet. It's got 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity and it's got 6 buttons that are programmable to whatever you want and saves the config to an XML you can import and export. This way you can have a config file for using photoshop and another for paint tool sai. Good shit / 10
depression is best solved by traveling, especially to 3rd world shithole countries
seeing how people live puts shit in a perspective
Aiden Perez
Wish I could help you, OP. Good luck, make your sis happy.
Colton Gonzalez
I don't really want to tell her story, but if you must know, it involves sexual molestation at her school and discovering her father, my father, isn't really her biological father. It's deeper than that, but I think those two things are the cause of her depression, she's lonely, she isolates herself, she hates our father, she hates everything involving school, well, it's sad but she trust me and I can still make her smile, I just want her to get better and to be happy We live in a third world country
Cooper Carter
That's rough user, I wish you both luck in the future.

Don't know anything about drawing tablets, so I can't help ya there. Good luck on finding a nice gift for her though! I hope she enjoys it and hopefully you're able to catch up on some sleep.
God damn, thats tough. You are a good brother user, looking out for your lil sis wellbeing like that.
Nolan Young
Hope I'm not too late. DONT BUY HUION. I had to (cheap) huion tablets and they are utter garbage, maybe the high end tablets are ok. XP-Pen tablets are very nice and inexpensive
Aaron Sanders
Buy dildo!
Matthew Evans
You're a good brother
Noah Harris
Thank you, I haven't bought one yet, I'll go for a Wacom
Julian Sullivan
>Hey Jow Forums, my little sister is suffering from depression and I want to gift her something to cheer her up
A dog. They will teach her responsibility, and also companionship.
Get her a tablet and have her play osu! That'll definitely fix her mental state.
Gavin Gutierrez
kek it's the opposite she'll start to hate herself even more and become frustrated at the game for being bad at it and being told to enjoy gaem source : am addicted to osu and play with a tablet
Evan Long
Huion for size and quality for price ratio Bambo for being pretentious on the internet.
Easton Gutierrez
Thanks for being a good brother m8
Ryder Powell
Might I recommend a Tab S4?
It's an android tablet and comes with a stylus, a wacom EMR one to be exact You can use virtualtab on android and windows to connect it and use it as a drawing tab
The upside is she can use it as a drawing tablet on her PC if needed but also she can take it outside and still use the android programs which are quite nice like infinite painter, sketchbook pro, art rage, etc
Dylan Martinez
this post was brought to you by /n/ come visit sometime
Juan White
I'm again
Don't buy . I'm /ic/ and generally tablet pcs (including thinkpads and even better ones like aplel or surface) with styluses are good for note taking or light sketches for pros or people who that seriously. Beginners might get discouraged quickly.
>xp-pen that's an utter trash.
James Collins
fpbp, fuck her
Leo Phillips
Yes it's why I recommended Samsung S4 has it has an EMR pen. N-trig are the ones that are fucked.
Also the fact you said surface and think pad are "good" means you don't know much about pen tech. Surface and thinkpads are very bad. Surfaces are far, far worse but the n-trig digitizers in general are bad for proper art
Jonathan Cox
i have an intuos it was a gift and i use the fuck out of it.

Get the Huion 610 Pro I have both the H420 and the 610, the 420 will cause tons of hand cramping and the 610 is just big enough to be comfortable to draw on without your hands exploding also the pen is rechargeable
>H610Pro the revamped version has a battery-free pen (no charging) and tilt support with an improved drawing surface. So might wanna get either that or one of the newer models with the same features.
Julian Kelly
I recommend a deco01
