that's a cute t420blazeit

Does anyone know if x1 carbons trackpad would fit x1 Yoga (1st Gen)?

where do i get a japanese keycap set?

lolis

Attached: yellowshit.jpg (600x800, 61K)

Japan, Ebay, Google

Just bought an x220 without HDD or ram, already got an SSD on the way but how much ram should I need? I'll be running Arch i3gaps and using mostly vim and firefox

should i give indian scammers fake info?

8GB

i got my nip x220 kb from ali. it cost 25 gbp and looked/felt new

maybe for windows but is this really necessary for low spec arch linux install?

Does the x230 have a socketed CPU? And can you fit a x220 keyboard in a x230?

Forgot to bring here the first thinkpad I actually bought for myself. Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 3 (2015), i5 5300U, 8/240GB, 1440p ips touch, 336 euros. Amazing battery, amazing looks, light af, a must if you don't really need a machine for tough tasks.

x201 cutest thinkpad

Left to right:
- X230, i7, 8GB, coreboot with GRUB2 payload.
- T510, i5, 4GB, stock. (It has a wson8 package...)
- X200,4GB, libreboot.
- T60, 4GB (3GB usable), libreboot.

>25 good boy points for a weeb keyboard

>non yoga version
Into the trash

Attached: 1547848351187.jpg (600x1500, 138K)

no, yes

Can you fit a t500/t540 keyboard in a t550?

Yoga is more expensive and useless, Qubes has 0 support for touch, so I prefer the 1440p.

sure i guess, i have centos gnome running on 4GB just fine, my main laptop has 6GB but since its mismatched i dont get dual channel so im going to make it 8GB cuz fuck it. thats a debian icewm install. compiling needs lots of ram sometimes. gnome and firefox on 4GB is kinda pushing it

I have an old Dell m5060 (?) laying around.
This version had a well know fabric defect where after a while the cpu heat could burn the gpu.
This happened to mine, but it seems like the hdd and ram are fine tho.
I've thinking of buying a x250 that has no hdd and with 2gb of ram and replace those with the Dell's one. Good or bad idea?

for me its x201(s minus touchpad)

Thank you, user

Would a librebooted X60 with an ssd have faster boot times than an X61/t with an ssd but without libreboot?

wallpaper?

probably not, especially if the x61 had the modded middleton bios that enables sata 2

Ok I bought an x220.
What now

install gentoo

use it

>discord

meant to say windows*

Do you usually buy things but have no use for them?

Did you get it from that german ebay seller? Got one too for pretty much the same price. Does your screen has any of those pressure points?

i think it will. the bios takes longer to load than the os in my experience. maybe if sata2 is enabled via middleton bios but it could go either way

i just bought a x61t, w500, and t60p. now what?

Retard here.
I use Photoshop and After Effects alot, will a dedicated GPU (Either the NVIDIA Quadro P1000 or the MX150) be a noticable help with big projects? Like, should I aim for a dGPU when buying a thinkpad?

Also, I HATE number pads on laptops. If I were to buy say a T580, would it be a non risky thing to change the keyboard to a non numpad version??

I want a new thinkpad but

Ignore that shit at the end, I'm very tired.

What should I buy? x230 or t430 or t44p?

>he has no friends

Attached: 6.png (368x368, 201K)

t440p

looks like it's cinnamon

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-12-25 09-38-47.png (1366x768, 1.13M)

ahahah yup. I sold one that had those pressure points, now I have one with a really subtle line on the right screen that most have for some reason. Pretty nice machines.

What do you think about Dell Latitude E6540?

Attached: 740485_3_i1064.jpg (862x514, 31K)

Just how bad is the x140e with the e1-2500?

Is it actually worth using gentoo on such weak hardware?

Got a t440, was a bit scared of buying a second hand laptop but it looks brand new, the battery lasts 7 hours at 80% charge according to ubuntu.
I'll think about replacing the screen and trackpad if I give it a lot of use but I'm pretty happy with the purchase so far.

ooo that looks quite nice

>just ordered a L390 Yoga for work

I know I know >2in1, but it makes perfect sense for my needs. It sucks it can't be under 3lbs, but the other ones that are under 3lbs either don't have USB & HDMI or have USB but a shittier CPU. The 11inch one would be perfect if it had this one's CPU.

I am very excite.

absolute dogshit, not suitable even for basic tasks

>just IPS'd the x220
feelsgoodman

Newish to laptops. (Had a macbook in 2007... never again.) Can I get a recommendation? Budget... say $800-1200.

>I really want a thinkpad because of the nice KeyBoard and price.
>I want to use photoshop(painting.) Some coding. And I want to do some minor gaming. FFXIV at least. Nothing with super graphical or taxing.
>I'd also like a standard numpad and arrow keys.
>Backlit would be nice too.

I was previously recommended an Acer Nitro 5. But lul could do without the gamer aesthetic. It really does fit my numpad criteria though. I'm digging the new Dell G7s. Ideally Lenovo though.
>I would consider used/refurbished as well.

$20 daily driver

Attached: R60.jpg (4032x3024, 2.36M)

what the hell, you got that for $20??

Anyone using Dell Latitude E6510, is it good for running Linux?

yes, from a company that wanted to get rid of some old stuffs
looked almost new

something like T580/P52s with nvidia graphics would suit your needs just fine, X1 Extreme/P1/P52 if you want more power but it's probably too expensive for your budget, if you want to buy used T540p or W541 will be much cheaper but the gpu will be also quite a bit slower

wow hey thanks man! this is actually pretty cool looking.

shit man i got a c2d t60 for $20 & an x200s for $45. the dealz are out there

Want a laptop for Solus with Budgie DE, what should I buy?

how do you find comapnies ddoing stuff like that, also cute pad

Is the x230 worth it?

How difficult would it be to get the keyboard switched out to something without a numpad?

No, better get a x220 or x230.

ok faggots, i bought a t420s, now what do I do with it while waiting for my upgrades to arrive?

What’s the best cpu you can put in a t420?

>daily driver
>battlestation

disgust.jpg

Thinking about getting another thinkpad. x60, t60 or T400?

the dc jack on my refurbished latitude e6230 is failing so I'm thinking of getting a thinkpad for a replacement (x240 or t440)

is arrow-direct on ebay a good place to buy refurbished thinkpads?

1080p?

what upgrades?
benchmark stuff before the upgrade then when you get them benchmark again and see how much it improved

Is there anyway i can bind my F1 LED to caps lock being activated? On my T450 i forget wether i left it on caps or not. Is this possible on Linux?

can somebody recommend me a lightweight, reliable and easy to use distribution for my old T400?
2.4GHz 2 Duo, 2gb Ram

Why does my trackpad jump up when scrolling up sometimes with it.
Should I replace it or carry around a mouse with my t420.. I can't switch to the track point already tried

Attached: tenor.gif (220x173, 961K)

Fuck me , are there any 15" think pads with a decent processor graphics card and 16Gb ram with an IPS touch screen. Love the thinkpad style but can't seem to find one

Attached: ap1.png (417x118, 6K)

Is it possible to find an x60 or x60s that's 64 bit?

Is there a comprehensive list of thinkpad keyboard compatability? How can I tell if a keyboard from one model will fit into another?

Boxes are pretty cool. What should I do first?

Attached: Thot.jpg (1280x720, 70K)

If you're not in the us, try checking locally.
For a time all the local sellers only sold used stock from Japan. Frustrated the shit out of me trying to find a US keyboard

Yes
Look for ones that come with Core 2 duo

Anyone know where I can get legitimate Trackpoint Caps? I ordered some off of ebay, and they were absolutely terrible. I'd like to try the Cat's Tongue and Parabolic caps, thanks.

>
owO wass this ???
(not gay btw)

X220 with i3 too here
Mine never goes past 3gb usage desu.
For the same workload, windows needs about twice the ram to function. But, I guess extra ram won't hurt anyway.

i have't seen keyboard mods on newer thinkpads, but feel free if you have ideas
and i don't know how these programs scale with dgpu's but know that it will always come at a price, mainly battery life, heat, hackintosh support, etc ..

I would definitely say that if you're using After Effects, having a dedicated GPU helps. Render times would be a lot shorter.

As for the keyboard thing, I have no clue.

Install mojave

yes

How bad is the image retention on the x230 ips? I keep reading about people having it retain text after only a couple of minutes; is it true?
And does the x230 really have horrible pwm flickering at the lower brightness settings?

I have a T60 with a CPU fan that has started to make noise, like it's on its last leg. Is it safe to just ignore this? Spare ones have gotten kinda hard to find now, so I'd rather not bother.

Do you guys are all NEETS and students or do any of you actually use your thinkpad for moneymaking?

I don't think this is the place to look for someone that has stable income

At highest brightness if I let static black text sit on the screen for a couple minutes and switch to a solid white background the text fades completely after about 30 seconds. In real world usage I rarely notice it. Havnt had any issues with screen flicker but I dont lower screen brightness often.

i use my p51 for mathlab shit and CAD, and my t420 for office/VM/funposting, dunno why people with jobs wouldn't use thinkpads

I edit real estate photos on my x230 with an external monitor. Runs photoshop in a windows VM no problem and the built in ips screen works in a pinch when Im on site.

I get autismbux from my state.

How much do you get?

Is there any use I can get out of an msata SSD if I'm booting from a sata SSD?
