awesome. Who the fuck thought a platter that holds all data from a needle microns away was a good idea?

Who the fuck thought living in an overpriced, overly liberal shithole along the most active fault line in the world was a good idea?

>Be in California
>complain about earthquakes, fires, Mexican, SJWs, and no water

How about moving some place that isn't a shithole?

haha what the fuck
I have an ancient Maxtor drive from '96 that still works fine and I live about 20 miles away from the fault

>Not having everything properly secured and cooled.

Next thing you're going to say is that RAID is meant for long term storage and safety.

My guess is that earthquakes are noticeable as G-sense shock events, and that the drive will either park or spaz out.

>Implying securing something to the earth stops it from shaking
>Implying that RAID1 was listed as a backup and somehow invalidates the point.

>And the off-site backup

a bunch of gold miners

But it wasn't an overpriced, overly liberal shithole in the gold settlement days. It became those things later.

You should be complaining about the new fucking governor that is going to give AIDS to everyone and rent becoming the most expensive worldwide in 2020 and 5 million bucks given to ugly central americans ridden with epidemies that will kill the whole San Diego homeless population.
Even the wetbacks are going to go back to Guatemala in that year.

>good nas
>each raid controller has an accelerometer that prevents writing and eventually turns off hard drives during any kind of shaking
>stores any incoming data during a quake to solid state storage with huge write durability
>resumes writing to disks when quake is over

listen, just because your NAS is bad doesn't mean you can't fix it, dude.

All of this is set up in redundancy, because I live on the ring of fire also.

>He doesn't have an off-site backup
>He isn't using SSDs for primary storage in the first place

Loser OP can't afford food and accommodation, let alone SSDs.

NANI?

The constant rape and bashings by HIV-infected gay illegal immigrants can't be helping him, either.

16 way RAID1?

Is there even any point to addressing such subhuman trash, user? They aren't actually capable of thought.

OP BTFO

Why don't you move to a real state, OP?

>Who the fuck thought a platter that holds all data from a needle microns away was a good idea?
You did

As far i know, there are harddrives with Accelerometers that can park the needle before anything bad happens.

I guess communism works then huh

This is why laptop drives will always be superior. Heck even external 2.5" can function while on the go and have haptic and g detectors so it can shut off safely when it's beyond the threshold but still go online after a few seconds.
RAID is for servers that replace drives every 2 years. RAID ZFS 20000hrs uptime is just a meme made up by poor unix hobbyists on yahoo answers and whatnot and people fell for the meme.
Online backup is full of bull. The constant heat will rot the magnet and other mentals and make the drive crap out faster.
Offline backup is the good stuff and also put them in a dust-free faraday cage with the right amount of humidity and can be put between two plastic wraps for suspension for seismic protection.
Some desktop drives have no G-sense and some of them don't even work at all like OP pic related. Maybe fixed on STXXXXhigherFWversion. My Seagate didn't park from a mild shake and shat itself though was able to recover slowly after messing with the jumper pins.
The only thing that parks during hard fall while even moving files from my experience is Toshiba and WD - both HGST.

gold diggers*

East coast > west coast
Also East coast isn't flyover

>ring of fire also.
Another score for Japanese Hard drives.
>resumes writing to disks when quake is over
But isn't that pretty common? Most laptops have that built in and even the drives themselves have it too.
If you buy a cheapo USB3 controller for external drives they also have that but a NAS not doing it's shit?

>t. street shitter

Communism works fine over the short term, but quality of life always becomes lower even if the state is "doing well", and eventually the people revolt. California has the benefit of an extremely capitalistic backbone of high tech companies to float their dumb social bullshit. The second they decide the tech companies need to start redistributing though, the state is fucked.

>own a laptop w/ HDD
>try to move it or otherwise use it in any mobile situation
>hard drive develops bad sectors due to shake

>Who the fuck thought a platter that holds all data from a needle microns away was a good idea?
You did. You chose to store your data this way, instead of any of the alternatives.

Who thought living in California was a good idea?
Not sure who's the real idiot here...
