Windows 2000 is the perfect OS

Windows 2000 is the perfect OS.

The perfect OS is Windows '95.

Ok

We all ran it, but don't try to pretend it wasn't slow as shit

It was the perfect OS. If someone had access to the source and compiled it for 64 bit, USB3+, SMB3+ and today's drivers it would be viable but that's never gonna happen.

Almost

Is this the full source?

>slow as shit

The boot times were much slower due to the way services were loaded sequentially. You also had to restart the computer after any hardware driver update.

Besides just those two points it was not slower, it was flat out better. The minimum CPU requirements are 133 MHz.

Not pure.
Partial 2k, full Xbox (2K variant).
It should be enough to make your own 2K compatible OS. Even if you just took the official kernel source and substituted the userland with something like React.

In return, it was rock solid stable when compared to Win 98/ME.

Ran that fucker all the way until 2009. 7 was perfect and 10 is okay after spending an hour changing settings.

lower hardware requirements do not necessarily mean a better operating system
there is no such thing as "best" operating system
prove me wrong

>unplug usb without clicking remove safely
>*destroys all your data*
heh nothing personnel kid

also
>no wifi supoort

How to get win2k data center server iso? Is it just regular win2k, but activated through code, or a completely different download from win2k?

>no wifi supoort
It didn't come with generic wifi drivers but that doesn't mean you can't install drivers yourself.

Oh yes i LOVE the Intel Proset/Wireless interface how did you know?

Windows 3.11 was the best, and you literally cannot prove me wrong.

IRIX and NextStep.
Also, pic related was a better UI of the same style.

Why is the save button called "Drive A?"

Not really a high bar

>perfect OS
>windows

Choose one.

For me, it's Windows 98.

The problem is implementing all the modern system calls from Vista up to 10, without them and even if you can compile the kernel for x64 you won't run pretty much anything modern.

It certainly isn't your shitty 50 year old DOS look-alike.

unstable piece of shit hack people only remember fondly because of nostalgia

Good for its time, but it really was buggy and there really wasn't any reason to switch from Windows 3.x. Except for greater meme-ternet capabilities and a meme taskbar that unfortunately has become standard in most OS's, Windows 95 was a rather unnecessary upgrade from 3.x in hindsight.

>running our 386s and 486s as go-fast XTs for nearly a decade was perfectly fine
k

You must be suffering from early dementia if you forgot how easily it crashed.

Yes but it's gone now, hon.

just grab the source code and bring it back

Don’t laugh because someday here that will be posted unironically.

I did this too. I skipped Vista, ME, and XP completely. Went from 2000 Pro to Win 7.
7 was better in some ways, but I always missed the low hardware requirements of 2000.

There is no perfect OS. They are all shit.

Lol the leaked source is incomplete as fuck. 10 percent of codebase only

everything was on that hardware noob

Dumb nihilist

>run pretty much anything modern
I don't remember the name of it but a third party patch for this already exists. If someone knows it, please post it.

/thread

Most Jow Forumsentoomen are already posting unironic carcinogenic brain-damage. This is mild compared to "some foss cultist declares YotLD thread #2^1805-1".

Is it the Unofficial Service Pack 5 and/or Unofficial Update Rollup?

KernelEx?

That's it I think.

Anyone who opens this link can't work on ReactOS or Wine lmao

Is that true worldwide?

Probably not in Russia

KernelEX is for 9x.

KernelEx is for W2k too, just because it's the same kernel family doesn't mean XP hasn't added new shit
