Electron is a GUI framework that's basically chrome browser, so webdevs can do a website, bundle it with a browser and call it """desktop app""". Effectively you have bunch of applications that are mostly independent browser instances, each of them hogging RAM and CPU like crazy for doing simple tasks.

Pretty much a framework that allows you to create executables that access your shitty webapp. So instead of having a browser with many tabs for each webapp you use you end up with loads of different Electron instances open for each webapp (read "different instances of fucking chromium") and that is not a good idea for many reasons.Including:
