No desktop icons

>no desktop icons
>no minimize button on windows
>no system tray
>only works well with apps specifically designed for pantheon
>a desktop environment consisting of a single dock and a wallpaper that needs 1.5 GB

These retards should be shot

Does it have extensions tho? Never bothered with Memementary after they said people who downloaded their ISO for free are thieves.

how about you stop using shit distros instead?

No, you can't even add functionality with some shitty pajeet extensions on it.

They are so bad that they are like a parody of Gnome devs.

Is there any merit to elementary DE or is it just an equivalent of a 9-year old putting makeup on gnome to make it cosplay as macOS?

Actually, no. It seems like they just put a theme on Gnome, and just to do that they ended up removing functionality and breaking compatibility with actual Gnome apps. It's the soi desktop environment.

>uses Vala instead of JS
that's it

>no desktop icons
with a proper launcher it's not needed
>no minimize button on windows
no need when you don't have deprecated desktop icons
>no system tray
deprecated junk
>only works well with apps specifically designed for pantheon
never used it so can't make a comment on that
>a desktop environment consisting of a single dock and a wallpaper that needs 1.5 GB
1.5 GB of what?

>1.5 GB of what?
1.5 GB of RAM

is this what linux devs do? if you can't figure out how to implement something you call it deprecated and don't bother trying

I fucking hate elementary and their "panteon apps". This shit doesn't work (or look) properly ANYWHERE outside of elementary. Not even on gnome.

For the most part, yes.

LMFAO

söy

>implying other distros are better
Anything linux sucks horse cock

Is this bait? You sound like a Gnome dev

>>no desktop icons
>>no minimize button on windows
Neither of these are valid complaints on a Gnome environment.
The action of minimizing windows to a taskbar was completely replaced by the ability to create unlimited about of workspaces. If you're running out of desktop space just create another workspace.

And desktop icons are unnecessary with gnome's implementation of application launcher under the Super key. Just start typing.
The "desktop" directory in your home directory now serves the purpose it was created for - as a place to keep files you're currently working on before they're put into their proper place for long-term storage after your work on them has been finished.

Call Linux's desktop environments shit all you want, won't even try to argue with you.
But the desktop PARADIGM of Gnome3 is the most brilliant there ever was. It takes into account human ergonomics and the fact that we use both keyboard and mouse at the same time. No other operating system/desktop environment does this.

10/10 bait

Ok. Please answer this then. Why do you need desktop icons if you have a launcher you can easily search your bins and pin programs in? Why do you need a minimize button? Why do you need a systray that only a few programs tend to use nowadays when you have a dock that works consistently with all programs? Just because it doesn't line up with your ideal desktop doesn't necessarily mean it's bad idea to remove one feature in favor of another, other wise you'll end up with desktops with TWO CLOCKS.

I use tiling memes.

What a well thought-out response

You have to go back

Not an argument.

I like it. if it was more stable I would have installed it on my parents' old PC instead of Linux Mint

>A fork of a fork of a fork of a fork of another fork

How many kids and grandkids does Debian have? 100?

Honestly, the devs should focus on making a good DE that is distro-agnostic instead of making a whole distro that doesn't work.

It's so feature-starved that it's one of the better options for a computer that gets used by tech-illiterate people.

So if it's a machine used by a bunch of people and you want to avoid a headache, or your grandmother wants something basic on her computer so she can play the solitaire from time to time, then it'd be fine.

I’d install Mint for grandma, though. Elementary has a “minimalistic” interface that fails to appeal to tech-illiterate/elder people. What a shit distro.

They don't even ship a system monitor so the normies that use it for the looks can't see how heavy their dock is.

kek

Not shitting on people using it or people that work on it but exactly is the point of this distro? Why pick this over Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, etc?

it's for when you want a mac, failed at a hackintosh, and then decided that this bargain basement clone that you found on Jow Forumsunixporn seemed good enough and you have no purposes for your computer except starting a Linux blog or web browsing

remember when they said you’re “stealing” Elementary OS if you don’t donate? And they said that you should spell Elementary OS a certain way too, with lowercase “e” and uppercase “OS”? These guys want to be apple so bad, they even copied their behaviors

linux does so much more than macOS tho.

>no desktop icons
lol
>no minimize button on windows
tweak enables them
>no system tray
wut
>only works well with apps specifically designed for pantheon
absolutely not, you can install whatever gnome shit you want and it will work
>a desktop environment consisting of a single dock and a wallpaper that needs 1.5 GB
more like 700mb and the taskbar is still there.

I prefer this OS over many other distros simply because it works well right after install and is prolly the only good looking linux distro (out of the box at least).
My only complaint is that is usually shits the bed on older systems (2010 and older)
My fav distro is still xubuntu but I reccommend this one to people that want a user friendly starting point on Linux.

>removed the ability of puttign in ppas from the get go, have to install something to get those working
>the tweak tool for it sucks a bunch of shit and isn't supported by the devs
>stripped gnome down to get even LESS features
>dies in a fucking VM while only the tweak tool was installed, it ONLY lasted for 2 days
>people like it because mac replacement
>does nothing over gnome 3
And they expect people to give them money for a distro that can't work...
