Computers were never good.

they went downhill when gnome refused to put a thumbnail view in the file picker

>still complaining about this non-issue
Fuck off iTard.

spotted the gnome dev

Redhat was a pretty popular desktop distro before they spun off fedora. This screenshot looks about that old.

now it's fedora

Look how fucking sexy that UI was.. LOOK.

and the cursor is still literally the same

this is the reason i moved to kde

How many people need to post this working fine for you guys to stop falling for that meme? I don't judge Windows off of shit that stopped being a problem with 7

>Computers actually used to be good you know.
RH9 was the best distro i've ever used. Top comfy.

File browser and file picker aren't the same thing.

That looks like toy os

where can i get those icons

Search BeOS

thanks. i ignored your advice and googled 'redhat 9 icons' and found the bluecurve theme.

Yes but not thanks to RHEL or linux or unix.

How do you go from that to bunch of retards who can't even make a notepad.exe alternative with common lisp?
tech / res / 952400

my cock exploded with delight

Lisp machines had hardware support for lisp primitives.
Now if you want to write a lisp notepad you have to piggyback on system libraries written in C and you have to interface with C code and memory structures and the lisp itself needs x86 ASM and C in its source code all because the hardware 'modern' systems run on is primitive and the system interfaces end up equally so.

But at the same time things like this do exist:
github.com/froggey/Med
github.com/froggey/Mezzano

based

Daily reminder Lisp Machines had to be restarted twice a day (and took 30mins to boot) because the GC was so slow they disabled it by default and the system just leak memory.

Daily reminder that at the same time UNIX boxes leaked memory exactly the same way and didn't even have a garbage collector to turn on and even if Symbolics got their GC fixed your OS doesn't have one even today

It's a massive issue that's relevant today.

> UNIX boxes leaked memory exactly the same way
Literally not true, internet ran on Unix servers from the start, just like it does now.
> your OS doesn't have [GC]
Really makes you think.

ARPAnet happens to be older than even the first versions of UNIX. It ran on ITS and such other (superior) systems before UNIX left Bell Labs.
UNIX' achievements for the early internet is creating the first mail DDOS and the first computer virus and also needing four times as many sysadmins than for other systems.

Except its still an issue.
You can't even get away from it on KDE if you like GIMP (lol) or Firefox.
Though I think Firefox finally introduced a beta that lets you use glorious KDE filepicker.

red hat, fedora and CentOS are still a thing you know. If you weren't so autistic you could still enjoy them

So you are claiming Lisp doesn't at its core operate in binary? No, that's bullshit. You are just coping.

Bluecurve was so nice, I'm not sure why RH stopped maintaining it. I even went as far as getting the bluecurve skin for winamp on my windows install.

There is a port for GNOME 3 it looks like might be worth checking out.

Well, it's not fixed yet, is it?

They really, really didn't. I've got three words for you:
>RPM
>dependency
>hell

Solus doesn't have this problem
