Nobody here on this board will ever program anything remotely that even uses anything more advanced than high school math.

Everyone on /dpt/ and this board can't even code something more interesting than java office calculators for some insurance company, and those are the peak of what this board calls real programming.

Nobody heres know any real math and you faggots consider baby shit like linear algebra and calculus to be real hardcore math shit.

This is why CS is nothing more than a code monkey degree.

ITT: OP projecting himself onto others

I make more money than you

Thank you Kanye, very cool!

stay mad mathfags,

honestly you do tremendous work like optimizing shit NOBODY cares about, but we obviously benefit from. For example the chinaman Twitch hired to optimize their video code 2%.

Who gives a shit right?

But imagine the bandwidth savings, and performance enhancements.

Fantastic stuff, you should be proud! But nobody gives a shit.

I guess that just means most math is useless

I developed a model of radiowave propagation through the ionosphere, it required me to solve and understand the wave equation. That's uni level math, so stop projecting fucker.

any examples of high level, useful math?

docs.oracle.com/cd/E19957-01/806-3568/ncg_goldberg.html

differential equations
probability/statistics
boolean topology

At the moment my goal is to get a PhD in physics and study CS in tandem to specifically do scientific computing, so no.

And yet, you're wasting your life away on 4chin instead of studying.

>tfw autistic but brainlet and talentless. might as well be down syndrome

I'm actually doing both, it's this weird thing called multitasking you should try to learn

lol

came to realise this myself actually going down the Java path (never touched Python though, eww). picked up C and x86 assembly and am now in kernel design.

you guys should try it if you actually wanna program something challenging. no standard C library to hold your hand, nothing to prevent race conditions, memory leaks, etc.

>inb4 200 reply post of baited code kiddies butthurt that a frogposter is self reflecting

programs with advanced math are mostly useless when you can get 99.9% of all important work done with at most trigonometry and basic algebra

Same here, physics is taking me more time than expected tho.

Take summer classes and get a job on campus, summers are a waste of time

But Highschool dont teach me to use for example
PCA, ICA, LDA, SVM, gradient boosting
and etc etc
Etc
You wont ever make more money and being more comfortable than me if you dont know these things.

>Implying any true computer scientist cares about mathematics whatsoever.
Why do you think that companies hire engineers and math majors to work with software engineers?

>Implying we're not all doing the same.

I beg to differ

Ever heard of a British company called "Autonomy Ltd"?
22 Years ago they were hiring some of the best linguists, philosophers, mathematicians, translators, psychologists, and physicists money could buy. Their programmers worked with these people. They were making advances in robotics and autonomous AI, fingerprint recognition, facial recognition etc. HP bought the company for billions and ruined it LOL
programmers dont need to specialise in other disciplines, they specialise in logic and data structures

I'm in a summer course rn is taking me a lot of time cause I'm kinda mentally fucked up, so sometimes I can't leave home for months and I loose a whole semester.

I write math libraries for fun. No one will pay me lots of money to do that.

i'm using topoi and type theory to design a programming language. fite me nerd

>t. matlab """"""programmer""""""

>t. Poonigger mad he got stuck doing webdev

yes, yes, astrology with numbers will make you rich

> being too stupid to make a name in contributing to some trendy shit like Rust or crypto

hes rait. most of abstract math is useless

>Nobody here on this board will ever program anything remotely that even uses anything more advanced than high school math.
Yeah, sorry, no :-)

>trendy
>rust or crypto
Crypto died off years ago no one takes that meme seriously anymore at all. Shits about as valuable as a chuck e cheese token but you zoomers cant handle the reality.

But I already program stuff at my job that a large part of my country uses

Nigger, we're computer enthusiasts not math nerds

Really, you need to be optimizing your time for your use case. How stupid would you be if you forced yourself to study incredibly complex math topics just to go and write CRUD apps for 40 years?

High school math and targeted self-study is all any person should ever need unless they're doing academic research projects. Ideally you should be smart/educated enough to read a whitepaper (which is such a retarded term, who came up with that anyway? they're just called papers) on a subject and apply it in a suitable language.

I like building and repairing electronics. Computers is just a niche. Programming makes me want to kill myself though

Who cares. I have a real job where I'm paid to build shit that has actually has practical use.

I don't get the point of your post.

Its almost as if I haven't touched that shit since first year because I haven't needed to.

Okay boomer
