Let's make a Jow ForumsDE. Logo is already done (by some anons in the past). Now, we decide which language should I (we) use. Only meme-languages are allowed (no C, C++ or other Java are allowed).
I'm thinking about some sort of BASIC or Pascal, because why not.
>C+= or Rust Hm. No. How about FORTRAN? I like it, always wanted to try Delphi, how it compares to VB6... Problem is that it doesn't exist under GNU/Linux, and making DE for Windows is kinda useless.
Zachary Rodriguez
It must be some semi-dead meme language, like Visual Basic, or Delphi/Pascal.
Joseph Harris
HolyC or brainfuck
Jaxon Scott
>logo is always done first >now for 300 responses of bickering about the language like retards classic Jow Forums project lmao
Jason Rivera
VBA seems like a decent pick.
Jeremiah Ward
python 2.7 or MATLAB
Nolan Flores
We should port holyC compiler first.
Nathaniel Thomas
>python Sane option, thus not valid. >MATLAB Not free. VBA doesn't exist under GNU/Linux HolyC doesn't exist under GNU/Linux Brainfuck... Maybe
Thomas Thomas
Write it in Guile Scheme
Jace Moore
let's use octave then
Zachary Hall
and then submit it to the GNU project
Thomas Johnson
>Logo is already done
now we only need to solve some tiny details like choosing a language and probably getting someone who actually knows how to write code to do the rest.
Grayson Sullivan
Javascript or python
Charles Allen
Ada, of course. And we'll verify critical parts with SPARK.
Lucas Smith
We should make Jow Forums stand for something other than Jow Forums. How about Gnome?
I'm not falling for LISP meme again. Oh, lol. I'm considering this. >probably getting someone who actually knows how to write code to do the rest. I know how to code, I played enough with simple WM example, but I didn't read ICCCM and EWMH standards. Too sane. Is this an Ada of sort? Jow Forums stands for Jow Forumsovno (or Jow Forumsuano), not Jow Forumsnome. That is too sane option. Jow Forumsde would include Jow Forumswm, a fully-functional WM.
>Is this an Ada of sort? SPARK? It's an Ada subset with some added elements for formal verification. The right choice for spacecraft, railways, medical devices and the Jow ForumsDE.
Austin Jenkins
>checked wikipedia >has Boeing 747 on logo Fucken this.
I don't know Ada, honestly, but I want it to use same shit as airplanes use, since software there glitches rarely, and this is ideal for gde
Ryan Perry
Lol, seriously, PHP? Anyway, Ill check this tomorrow.
Liam Hernandez
Ada first. SPARK is for verifying the critical parts and it takes more effort. Once one knows Ada, adding SPARK isn't too much. And you already have concepts in Ada 2012 that make it pretty sure and reliable, e.g. design by contract.
