That comparison is utterly retarded and the person who did it knows nothing about fonts and font rendering. Adobe Reader has custom font rendering, it doesn't use system rendering. In fact, most other PDF readers under Windows use custom rendering, because Windows rendering isn't optimized for printing, which PDF is originally for, and you won't get 1:1 paper correspondence with native rendering.

isn't the only reason for font rendering issues on Linux because there was some patent bullshit regarding subpixel rendering and hinting

like, I'm looking the text here on Debian right now and there's some spots where I'd adjust it myself if I could, but as a whole, there's nothing as bad as that
