Women's sense of values tend to be reflected physically (looks, consumption) and that's what they look for (in men as well as other women), and its hard to find any of that in anonymity. The other factor I can think of is women don't take risks, so they don't see any value in being anonymous.

I am very much active in many community that are primarily men's domain like gaming, programming, politics, electronics, math and physics. These communities are full of smart men who are very passionate at what they do.
