How lucky was I?

Pretty lucky because I thought Goodwill doesn't sell PCs any more.
I can't find them anywhere any more

Works too, needed a hell of a cleaning though

... Should I boot it up and grab those real quick?

no dude it's junk, but cool junk.
t. i had one of these as a child

go find canyon.mid and crank that shit up

Yes

goodwill actually ships donated stuff around to different locations. so donations at a given store doesn't guarantee will be sold at that location. in california goodwill has a store in socal that's "upper class" that has a dedicated electronics department with actual service technicians who repair, test, and sale good quality computers and components. they charge quiet a bit for them. few hundreds of dollars for laptops and such. by my house there's a goodwill location that's a upper class "furniture" store where they ship really good quality furniture to they get as donations and sell it for higher prices. stuff that doesn't sell well in one region they will ship it to stores in another region they know will sale, and stuff that's really high quality donations will go to more upper class / specialty stores to sell at higher prices.

Up to you, it's not like I'll be devastated if you don't.

.how old is this?

yes, you should.

Date on the inner metal of the case is Sep 4, 1997

Attached: 2018-11-18 15.37.54.jpg (756x1008, 196K)

My firat pc had the same case. The cd bay is pretty cool.

your cdrom is 48x though

Nice find. I'm surprised it had an OS on it.

How do you find drivers for this kinda hardware?

Maybe the one I have was upgraded because it also has 48MB of RAM instead of 16, and an 8GB HDD instead of a 2GB one. Or maybe this one was produced a bit later.

shit makes me want to play mechwarrior 2 and diablo 1

Alright, be back in a few minutes. Getting things to a flash drive is tricky with this.

>How lucky was I?
I don't know. I wouldn't expect to have to pay for something like that, to be honest.

Not quite

It's true for large values of 7

You should use a Recovery tool , you will perhaps find some interesting stuff.

I'd have to find such an old version of Reccuva, but that is a good idea.

Pull the drive and scan for files. Don't install anything or it'll overwrite files.

Wtf is going on in the bottom row, second one from the left?

>What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines has escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fuelled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.

>I DONT WANNA HAVE TO GO TO GRANPAS HOUSE HIS COMPUTER SUCKS!

wtf is wrong with this family you found OP? im convinced its all just a ruse.

There are actual pictures of the family too

>PC from 1999 literally several magnitudes more powerful than recommended settings for both of these games from 1995 and 1996 respecitvely make me want to play these games that are 3 and 4 years older than this PC

This compaq makes me wanna play G-NOME and Battlezone '98 and Heavy Gear 2.
(and diablo 2)
(Actually I played diablo 2 on a PC much worse than that)

hmmm its kind of like these were popular best selling machines with great win98 drivers supported by the manufacturer and microsoft...

It lagged to shit but honestly summon necro was one of the only builds I could do because when the game had huge framerate problems my guys kept killing shit.
I eventually got a better PC later but yes I did play online and skeleton army / golem was one of the only successful things I could do.

post emily

I know it was a kid, but why are women like this, even adults? >Hurt you, i'm so broken, but forgive I you, I love you.
Do they get turned on by this? To cheat, hurt and then come back claiming they "love"? Or are they all just empty husks?

Very wholesome. Why would they give their PC away? With their family pics on it too.

If I had to guess this would be her, but that's from 2004 so I think she'd be too old to have made such Paint drawings in 2012.

Yeah, so much for Goodwill securely destroying your information when you donate a computer. Maybe some of the workers didn't realize it was a computer and that's how it slipped through.

she's gonna grow up to be a la creatura
you can already see it happening

>tfw this computer was likely a grandparent's who has passed away
RIP grandpabro, I wish you taught me more about computers back in 95. He was the only person at that time in my family even remotely interested besides me. I wish I was able to keep whatever computer he had. It even had a trackball mouse.

>Date on the inner metal of the case is Sep 4, 1997
Pre botnet and enforced backdoors. This is worth its weight in gold.

I never thought of this actually, you're probably right. My grandmother's brother passed away last year and when they were selling off all his stuff, my brother found a Thinkpad from 1994, with the dock and everything for $10. He's hooking me up with it when I come to visit this summer.

user you know what you gotta do
Find the hidden shit. You know somewhere on that drive a dark secret is hiding

Indeed. I'll do that tomorrow though
