First for summit-fi
No picture of ZMFs, yeah no.......
Everyone on here hates Zeos thus I find it funny how there's no difference between you guys and him whatsoever.
Sniff my feet
zeos thinks everything is good
>Sniff my feet
I will destroy your foot pussy with my benis. prepare yourself
Round one
Nice OP
Yea, that's the problem. Maybe because he makes money from the referral links idk.
It's a little sweaty after walking all day.
/hpg/ is taken over by zeos fanboys who use discord and other memes like vinyl.
Guys, please. Can't we just have a normal thread for once?
Why do you think staxcult exists?
They are insufferable, but Zeos was right about one thing at least, SHP9500.
No. Fucking. Bass.
Stax shitting on every other headphone in existence is normal though.
reminder to filter tripfags
>Everyone on here hates Zeos thus I find it funny how there's no difference between you guys and him whatsoever.
Zeos can actually shut the fuck up about Stax for 5 seconds.
STAX flagship can't even outperform a K701 and HD600. It's low fidelity garbage.
Not really, Stax L300 kind of sounds like shit compared to Ananda.
Stax are absolute garbage, kek
Fake news. I listen to that through my L300 and can hear the Anada sound different.
>time is money.
I'm a NEET though, so my time isn't really worth that much.
>it's cheaper and easier to just buy an amp.
I don't think it'd be cheaper to buy an amp. The bias circuit I plan on adding would just be a couple of transformers to add galvanic isolation from the mains (already have those), and some good quality resistors and film caps for the voltage multiplier, the phantom center tap and the shunt resistor. Add the piece of veroboard I'll be mounting those on and it'll probably add up to like €15 at the very most.
Pic is the inside of the SRD-4. Couldn't be simpler. A couple of shunt resistors, AC coupling caps and two transformers for impedance matching.
Beyond summit-fi tier coming through!
>and some good quality resistors and film caps
And also diodes, obviously. Forgot to mention those.
How do you hook that up to listen?
Objectively below mid-fi though
Holy kek sapphire is actually commenting the same things on youtube
Buy
Stax
>Get some HM5 angled pads for my M40x's
>They have proper fucking soundstage now
>Highs aren't overly abrasive anymore
>Bass is less boomy
>Mfw discovering this after using the stock pads for well over a year
So, NAD viso HP50s or closed back sennheiser 598s?
haafee hd1
You hook up the wires that come out the back to your power amplifier's speaker outputs, and then connect up your speakers to the terminals at the back. Then plug in the headphones and set the knob to Earspeaker.
Got it. Do speakers have to be hooked up too for some reason?
Not really, it's just so you can switch them using the selector on the adapter. You can just connect them to another speaker output, or not connect any speakers at all.
Whats the closest thing to this i can find as far as iems?
Lmfao he legitimately has no life
seething incels getting cucked by staxchads 24/7

Is there a min and max wattage range for the amp

I don't know, honestly.
I have it plugged into a 75WPC (@ 8 ohm) amp right now. My SR-40s start getting audible pretty much as soon as you touch the voulume control, and they get ear-rapingly loud at around 1/3 total volume. I can't get them to (audibly) distort even at that volume though, I did not expect that at all.
Stax incels on suicide watch, lmao
measurements of the haafee hd1
ok
Oof the 353x is the better amp floor dude
well i have a 14 day return window to determine that. that means no mod for now but... this is for my 007mk2.9
Yeah you would be better off with a SRD-7 mk2 or getting a KGSSHV

These might be plugged into a laptop, but they are mostly going to be used wireless with my tablet, phone, laptop.
>Type of headphone
Full-sized
>Open or closed
Certainly closed
>Comfort level
Not a huge thing for me, I will wear them for long periods of time but sound quality matters to me.
>Sound signature
I'd like v-shaped, I think? I'll be listening to stuff like Oneohtrix Point Never, want to be able to hear the full range of that

Had a lot of Skullcandy Ink'd headphones that I chewed through, they were alright if you accepted the fact that they would break in three months time. I have a pair of Skullcandy Crushers, first gen model. They lasted really long and held up to a lot of abuse. I didn't like that they were not wireless and while they delivered excellent sound, the bass boost feature felt a little bit like a gimmick. Also it ate up AA batteries all the time. Right now I have a pair of Skullcandy Ink'd wireless head phones and they're great for taking calls at work or casual listening but I don't feel like the brand makes "serious" headphones. I am still married to the idea of a really bass heavy headphone.
So, I'm graduating from the world of Skullcandy headphones and I'm looking for my first "real" headphones. I've narrowed it down to two choices based on my needs, but this is my first time with something that I didn't first wear at Target or Best Buy. Leaning towards the Audio Technica. Just looking for some real input on these two:
audio-technica.com
forgot I had a bass boost on lul
Miku!!!
Consider wired. Wireless headphones that sound good aren't a thing yet as of 2019.
Gotta be wireless? I'd recommend DT 770 250ohm if you can go wired, you'd absolutely love them.
If they must be wireless, the audio technica have a 40 hour battery life, while the sony has 22 hour.
I have to have some sort of Wireless feature, I know this will detract from overall sound quality, but if I really want the best quality I can always plug it in for the best quality no?
It’s only gonna get more interesting. If I Wanted to try the energizer routemI have 60 watt otl monoblocks in my main 2channel setup I could use, along with a 200 watt ss amp. haven’t looked too deep into a srd-7 setups though

DT 990 600 ohm is pretty much just as good and more comfortable.
>MDR-7506
Why you went to them after the Phillips? How did you liked them, and how do they compare to the DT770s and the HD800?

SHP9500s

HD6XX
DT 990 600 ohm (by far my favourite)

Wanted a set of closed cans.
>How did you liked them
they are really good for the price
>how do they compare to the DT770s
they have much more clamping force, and are a tiny bit less comfy
better for portable use tho
>and the HD800?
not comparable, imo

SHP9500
you're welcome
Sorry, i meant MDR vs DT770, and DT770 vs HD800.

thanks user, so kind of you
How did I do
Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered high end back in the 1960s and 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt. They were purchased by a Chinese company for just a million dollars who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players, they shill heavily on HeadFi and here on /hpg/, plus they pay Zeos to shill their crap just like Fostex does.
>In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax
Oratory has measured the highest end STAX, the SR-009S.
dropbox.com
dropbox.com
It's worse than the HD600. HD600 scored 92 and SR-009S scored 76.
Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.
In a separate study:
>The very highest end STAX ($4000 SR-009) was rated lower in blind tests than a $200 K701

To add insult to overpriced injury, they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones:
youtube.com
Oratory (respected sound engineer) on the build:
Even best Stax headphones sound objectively worse than mid-fi. This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure. In reality its no bass sounding garbage, with shrill highs that appeal only to near-deaf boomer
Superlux HD662 EVO
not very comparable, again
DT770 are closed and have more bass
HD800 sound better, have better sound stage and are much more comfy
I second the SHP9500. Amazing headphones.
You did great.
On the very cheap tier, which one is better Sennheiser HD 206 or AKG K52
he has always been here, it was sapphire
the 7506 is horrible. the shp9500 is okay
despite all the anti stax shilling going on here lately I still really wanna buy stax
staxchad gang
Stop stax! Your evil empire has been destroyed this threads for weeks, you can’t avoid the fact that you’re old and fag HD600 is the way
