I find my smartphone to be quite indispensable. The privacy risks are vague and abstract, while the benefits of having a web browser and mapping software everywhere I go are immediate and represent a distinct improvement in quality of life.
If this isn't true for you, but you still want a basic feature phone to stay in touch or for emergencies, then go right ahead.
