Been watching him, as he did have some pretty interesting infotainment style videos about command line tools. His political views are fringe at best and you can tell he makes certain videos just to make a quick buck on youtube (near exact 10m length, click bait titles, inflammatory opinions) but that's okay, he did introduce me to a few things that I currently enjoy.

Free software only refers to software that is free as in freedom. Free as in free beer software is called freeware. When you say "foss" you make it seem that free software refers to gratis software. But that is freeware. You are just adding to the confusion. You should just pick a side. You can't support both, since they are fundamentally opposed.

True. What I said was it makes it confusing. You see, free software is, by definition, open source. But when you say free AND open source you are acting as though these are separate aspects of a single ideology. So one would assume that the free that is exclusive from open source (gratis) is what is being referred to. If you said open source/free software (osfs) or free/open source software it would be clearer. But there is still no reason to use both together since they are so opposed.
