I'm a mac and linux fag -- I've daily driven MacBooks for nearly a decade now and thought I would never go back until after I saw how bad of a ripoff they are in terms of long term support. Typing this on an upgraded 2010 MacBook Pro w/ 8Gb of RAM running Arch. I wouldn't buy a new one either now. These days I would only consider purchasing a laptop from Lenovo or Dell (Highly customized Precision) and run my own Arch install... and for PCs, I will always build them myself. I can see why this is happening, Apple use to have rock solid hardware and they just don't anymore + their customer service (or lack thereof) is an abomination especially with regards to "Professional" series devices that cannot be repaired without paying more than they fucking device is worth. All of that said, OS X is far more stable than Windows ever thought about being - Windows fucking blows..

There was no way I could upgrade from my old 2015 15inch MacBook Pro to the new keyboard style and meme Touch Bar, its just more stuff that can break

Used Thinkpads are still the way to go.

Just bought an X250. It has a 1080p IPS screen, but at 12.5 inches that is perfectly fine. You can find them for around $300 and it uses standard parts for upgrades

The trackpad vs a Mac is total shit but the keyboard and build is godly, so is repairability.

I got it thinking I would use it along side my PC but what's happened over the last few months is the PC has stayed turned off and I only use my P52 for what I do (video editing, photography, programming, and ui design all as full time jobs) I am totally free from apple THIS IS A WORK MACHINE!

It's good for some things. But too pricey for most. It's very reasonable why most people should dislike the company.
