Thanks anons, i just started my journey im at 70k from the midwest. One last question, what state are you guys located in. Im thinking of moving to California after 2 years of experience here.

Also what caused such huge bump in your salary? The jump from 73k to 100k

Attached: 1488053968904.jpg (667x659, 77K)

>thinking of moving to California
Cost of living and state income taxes go up. Quality of life goes down. Do your research first. Perform physical recon first. You will receive slightly lower net pay and be surrounded by street shitting bums while stuck in endless traffic. I am doing everything I can to get out of here, user.

Jesus fuck. I make 64k and the government take 50%. I am a Swedish CTO at a big retail brand. 25 years experience.

Please let me in Mr Trump.

I'm Andre Yang and I make 12k a year.

The first job was in San Jose. To elaborate, I went roughly $75k, $87k, $101k, $117k, $136k, (got a master's here, while working) $155k, $187k

Compensation was salary + ~15% bonus, plus a renewable cash grant that vests over 4 years), plus 401k matching and ESPP

And then I hated my life and jumped ship to a startup with less total comp, but now I have coworkers that aren't in their 50s, so that's a plus. New job is in a different part of the Bay Area.

It is what you make of it. If you want a house with a big yard, stay in the Midwest. If you think it's cool to have mountains and coastline around you and accessible for 80% of the year, try your luck out here. The city life isn't any better than you could get in, say, Chicago. Still, I'm probably going to stick around, because this is my life now.

you mean -$4000/yr full time community college student

nice

did you get any certs to get that job? I got a BS in SE but im thinking about picking up some linux certs just to get an extra edge. You think itl be worth it?

software dev, $600 a month

Game artist, character art/rigging specialist. $48k a year.

Just got a fuckton of temp workers on 6 month contracts fresh outta dem fancy art colleges where they make mommy pay $30k a year just so a depressed dude who used to work at Pixar as a janitor can spoonfeed niggers how to use Maya and Zbrush. A lot of their portfolios are mediocre at best but they're easy af to train into our literal 5 step workflow and too young or naive to question their actual value to the industry.

i suck dicks for $money$

Attached: 0275 - QO6Cy9P.jpg (180x180, 8K)

a start up paying 180K+, damm. Congrats though! and thanks for answering my questions

I'm hired to tickle Mark Zuckerberg's balls every 15 minutes. It's a sweaty job, but someone's gotta do it - I get paid in good compliments. He said I was a very good boy today :3

Attached: proxy.duckduckgo.jpg (474x474, 22K)

Had to work a shit load of overtime on a high stakes project. We got a long term contract from a lot of last second work that got forced on me so I thought of it as "I'm sorry" money. I would have preferred not having to do all that shit though since it continued like that up until I quit (and was a major factor in my resignation). $$ isn't everything, gotta think about that life balance.

Hah, I wish. The startup is only $160k, which I'm figuring as $155k salary plus $3k moving expenses and I figure I'll eat $2k in free food. I get some options on top of that, and it's late stage, so they'll probably turn into something, but it's really hard to evaluate how much they're actually worth. But I'm happier, and that's worth a lot.

I got tricked into joining a family friends insane startup

No salary. ~21 bucks an hour. No healthcare or dental. Working as a contractor. Thinking of killing myself soon

21 bucks is pretty low but at least you're having fun?

>Work as a software dev at generic enterprise corp in bumfuck nowhere
>Salary is 1/2 my friend's at Google
>Work a strict 40 hour work week, nobody gives a shit about anything but getting home by 5
>My take home is higher than his due to cost of living difference

Feels good man

user, you sound like a total bro that has life figured out. Keep it up senpai.

>work at major tech company in PNW
>started about a month ago
>make 108k salary
>about 50k signing bonus over two years
>75k in stocks over four years

professional zoomer here, gonna make 12k (twelve-thousand-dollars) STARTING next year

Attached: 1552360484785.jpg (618x435, 75K)

There's no way your take home is higher. Entry level pay is 200k. After taxes, that's 130k. Living expenses would cost 40k, leaving 90k left over. Would be 100k if you include the 401k match.

I play blackjack, make about $80/hr
Also have some side ventures to support the bankroll

Will eventually get around to making an opensource casino verite

Attached: casino_verite_blackjack-29462-1244785569.jpg (1028x759, 356K)

Is it hard to find work as a rigging specialist/game dev at that salary? I wanna get into it but I’m worried I’ll end up with a meme tier degree that won’t let me do anything with it

I have no certs at all, not even ccent.

NEET - $0/year well not true I make around 150 a month from an app i launched but thats peanuts... how can i make money online as a JS dev?

Yes, I'd say so, but it's more of a "is it permanent" vs "temporary/contract". I'm seeing more development cycles now rely heavily on cheap temp labor rather than a dedicated, well-paid tight-nit collective of artists and specialists who know what's best for the project. Contactors are cheap, plentiful, and best of all expendable. AAA studio wants to make a game, so it brings in a bunch of artists right out of college to spearhead something. This is hell if you're me because your job goes from hands-on work to management.

But as far as MY job goes, It's definitely a "passion" thing. If you walk right out of school with a 2-4 year degree and nothing else to show for it besides what you made there, then your chances of being hired are low. You're competing with other artists for the same positions after all..
You'll need to spend lots of time building your portfolio and even more time working on presenting yourself while demonstrating a level of competency employers and studios would feel compelled to invest money into. A lot of people in today's job market see that as too much of a gamble for the amount of work and time you're putting in with such meager gains. And with the [CURRENT STATE] meme always creeping up, it's hard to really have the best outlook or morale.

But people get by, although it's not always the "right" people in my opinion.. Many hack artists slip by thanks to bullshit like nepotism and forced inclusion while truly talented people have to work contract after contract just to get by. Very corrupt and depressing when someone sitting in the bay of workstations would be better at your job is out there eating shit right out of another man's asshole and is about to be laid off and doesn't even know it yet.

I'm so tired.

Get a job at a hospital and work your way up. You'll be making 6 figures in no time.

Restaurant server at a high end hotel, 400/night on a slow night, on average, 1.2k a night.

It's pretty similar here. Waited for an appointment that never came for years once and got it done by a private doctor while visiting family abroad.
Letter asking me to come in for the appointment comes in the mail months later.
