First for Stax 009 arriving tomorrow

what is the most neutral headphone?

Attached: 1552045656064.jpg (427x427, 78K)

I've been using HD650 for around 18 months now.

Is there ANYTHING for me to upgrade to without spending $500+?

anyone have experience with the questyle cma400i?

im thinking of getting either that or the burson conductor v2+

Attached: DSC_9258.jpg (700x467, 116K)

buy stax

>Is there ANYTHING for me to upgrade to without spending $500+?
Sell HD650, get Stax-3100 system and L700 pads.
Otherwise - no, mid-fi hell is real.

I'm picking up some Argons this week and need an amp to drive them. Any recommendations? I'm currently looking at an Atom, Element or Monolith THX amp.

Yea that likely wont happen.

Guess i'm sticking with HD650 until I get a better job.

I thought DT 990 600 ohm sounds significantly better. But it's all personal taste.

Massdrop Focal Elex is pretty neutral.

I have really cheap headphones so mastering is hard. Anyone with expensive headphones which can tell me how the mastering sounds?
soundcloud.com/smokazzi/next-feat-giorgio-de-palo-demo

Really dude? You're the creator here. Buy a decent pair of headphones immediately.

But to me, it does sound pretty good. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for though.

Well thats the point. Do I need to? If the mastering is good then I dont. I dont know if targetting high-end headphones and audio equipment might affect for mid-tier and low-tier equipment.

It affects all tiers of equipment. If the mix is good it will sound as good as it can no matter what equipment it is being played back on. You definitely need to, that track is pretty cool. Wouldn't you rather have peace of mind instead of wondering if your headphones are good enough? Not to mention their frequency response. Buy a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M40x.

I also recommend a FiiO E10K dac/amp to pair them with. It has a low output impedance so it will ensure your headphone frequency response is as flat as it can be. But the headphones are more important to buy first if you are on a tight budget.

This type of comment made me sure you don't know jack about mixing and probably produces shit material.

What laptops have good DACs?

Tested out an old 2009 Macbook Pro recently and it sounds better than my old Surface Pro.

Is it good?

so is this a good deal for these? anyone know anything about these? are they shit? i'm sure the $200 msrp is total bullshit, they're probably what, $50? $60? is $33.99 a good deal for them? not expecting too much and if they're garbage I can return them in 30 days. should i pull the trigger?

Use this.

The mix is shit
The mastering is shit
The audio itself is shit and full of low quality samples
Horrendous drum programming
Absolutely pathetic guitar and sax desu, also you should fire your sax player and remove this from the internet before Yu Suzuki gets you on a copyright claim for stealing the saxophone almost note-for-note from the Streets of Rage soundtrack.
I don't use headphones, I have actual speakers. They aren't that big but they're bigger than your fucking brain.
I don't often say this, normally I'd just say "Try again, smoke assy" - but this comment makes me unfortunately suggest that you move on from music creation, at least until you're going to at least pretend to try. The world has enough wasted bandwidth.

>Yu Suzuki
who? Also thats a synth not a real sax, there is no sax player, its just me mashing on the keyboard

>Google
>Reddit
>r/headphones
I've seen this chart before too, surely it's an incomplete list? There can't truly be literally like 3-5 pairs of headphones worth buying considering there are 40+ manufacturers?

No, just save money for speakers. If you want a different sound just eq your 650 a little.

also the sound preset is not saxophone but a trumpet btw

I have both and much prefer the HD 650, but they sound quite similar and I wouldn't really call it an upgrade. More of a sidegrade with a slightly different sound.

Audeze are trash

the best dap you can buy now

Stax are trash
fixed

>t. triggered audeze incel

indeed they are

Okay st*xfags

what are you going to do if they break?

HD600 objectively.

Can anyone recommend 2.0 speakers that sound like DT 770 Pro?

no

well my stax are 15 years out of warranty so probably just buy a new pair

Why are these good?

Attached: 1533135722865.jpg (1274x716, 78K)

Nothing besides Stax are good

Well if all you need is a headphone output there is no reason to buy anything other than the atom. The other 2 have lots of other features but if you don't need any of it then just buy atom

probably buy a 009 or something

>t. triggered nostax incel

canuckaudiomart.com/details/649485149-stax-sr4170-ear-speaker-system/
Is this a good deal?

If you're bored of them, you could switch to HD600. Else, saving up for STAX is all that's left.

No

>sweaty fourth hand L300 incel

>t. triggered yottacel

>triggered niggercel

niggers are based

you wish you had stax, dumb n*staxer

Does not compute

Oh but I do and they suck

prove it

Questyle is very fine device
and it’s better than Burson in my opinion

>HD650
>mid-fi
That's anyway to try to justify your investments

I sold them

It is unequivocally mid fi

I sold my sennheiser orpheus it was worse than stax which is better than every other headphone

friendly reminder that you need to be older than 13 to post on Jow Forums

i don't get why people say the hd6 series is mid-fi, it was mid fi 20 years ago, now it's lo-fi

> niggers are based

>$200+ headphones
>lo-fi

thats not how it works

>jewheiser keeps a premium tag on 20 years old mudphones
>that somehow makes them relevant and mid-fi in 2019

you're right they're shit-fi not lo-fi

why do they sound better than everything else in their price bracket then?

Just because it's 2019 doesn't mean you have to spend $500+ for mid-fi.

Because you're either deaf or a shill or both.

lmao, name a better headphone for the price.

they sound worse than portapros

Wew, take your (you) and leave

dt770

Those are just as ancient and not objectively better, they're similar quality but most people prefer the senns.

>not objectively better
in your opinion

That's literally the point, they're SUBJECTIVELY better, NOT OBJECTIVELY better.

>NOT OBJECTIVELY better
according to you

(you)

yes it is me

brilliant guys. putting millions of years of evolution to good work.

>evolution
Do you also believe in other fairy tales such as Harman target curve, neutral headphones and Stax?

>and Stax?
kek 10/10 post

>neutral headphones
HD600 sounds closest to speakers in a treated room.

>millions of years of evolution
in your opinion

>HD600
no bass
no soundstage
inferior mids compared to Stax

Am I supposed to have Windows Sonic on if I also have the virtual 7.1 on my headphone dongle on, or are they two separate things and only one should be on at a time? It's the HyperX Cloud II for gaming.

Wrong, STAX sounds nothing like speakers in a treated room. HD600 has better bass, mids and treble.

you are right stax sound nothing like shit

>he thinks his extremely colored stax are good
jej

listening to my HD700
the soundstage is so good. gaming is amazing

Attached: retarded_eli.png (1402x1080, 1.32M)

anything would be better than hd600 tbqh

going to have to check those out sometime, thanks.

Kef speakers, yay or nay?

Help me out /hpg/

>in ear
>bluetooth
>sound control buttons
>good quality sound

Airpods master race

>in ear
>bluetooth
>good sound quality
